Doesn't help that his response is completely erroneous in its logic. Big box companies absolutely do not let manufacturers dictate to them how to perform their SEO. So his assertion that Wyze is a security camera because some websites may include those metadata tags on Wyze cams does not hold water.

crager84 - manufacturers certainly can... if they really care about their “not security camera principle” if you are an affiliate with certain companies they will have stipulation that you cannot bid on certain keywords in AdWords for their product or services that they offer. What is more subtle is at amazon...there is no mention of “security camera” in their listing ..but they show up in amazon search results..they will not show up if they didn’t “tag” themselves for “security camera”

@@crager84 What? There is absolutely logic in his response that these cameras are offered in search results for security cameras. Besides, manufacturers know nearly 100% of people buy motion detection cameras for security purposes.

This is what you're saying. Wyze does NOT market these, nor have they ever marketed them, as security cameras. Your a super hater bro. Wyze is a inexpensive option to many high priced and name brand camera options available. Whomever is buying these things is smart enough to see the value buy of a $30 cam and a $10 cover for it to put it outside vs something much more expensive. I don’t expect everyone to be happy with every product but it’s hard to watch someone whose contribution to the world is tearing down the hard work others have put into creating a business and offering a value option With great customer Support and innovative products. I’ve been a faithful wyze customer for years now I’ve owned every camera I currently have four around my house, all my bulbs are wyze, my door lock is wyze, one plug in use (for my garage AC which I program with geo fence to turn on when I’m close to home in the summer) a vacuum, scale, several motion sensors linked to my lights and I’ve NEVER had a product break/fail or not meet expectations. That’s a real statement 100%. I’ve bought all of this over a several year period. And it’s one of my favorite companies around. I even bought the original sense package just to have down the road because it’s a self contained unit. The new service for $5 a month is free when you get the hub for all the people Complaining about a service fee. I’m sorry but they survived COVID. Launched a lot of amazing products. And don’t make videos talking about how disappointing your videos are so stop hating.

I would've preferred the regular v2 with an outdoor housing and a WiFi antenna on it. I plan to modify one like that and power it with a power pack.

I have 5 V2 in housings running all year- snow rain sleet heat - since they came out- runs pretty good with some minor glitches once in a while- If one will fail- I will throw it away and put a new one up- They are cheap- you get what you pay for-- BUT-- I will not buy the outdoor one-- it simply does not perform well- If you have a mesh wifi system, all you need is to buy the long usb power cables. Would be nice to know what you come up with the MOD for it.

I have a gate to monitor about 55 yards away. I put the base in a window. It worked. But I can't leave the Ethernet cable running around the wall to that window. I plugged the base into a WiFi extender in another window, no wires. That worked, too, but with limited range, still with the outdoor cam wireless & very portable. So next I will try a yagi beam antenna on a V2 in an outdoor housing pointed back toward the house. The outdoor cam would be great if I could just power it with an external battery charged with a solar panel. If a V2 works well with the antenna, that would be easy to set-up. Meanwhile the outdoor cam is fun as I can perch it in so many spots with no wiring.

Yes.. it seems to glitch when recording the live view...which also shows on my review video in the clarity test...because I have to record the footage in live view.

@@bluesfish55m51 Just "google" Wyze mod and you'll find at least 3 videos by those who have added exterior antennas.

I use it for teaching my dog not to eat off the table when I lreave the room. It took a couple times.

It will work with Wyze's rules...like it can be a trigger or an action..e.g... when wyze sensor detects motion, the WCO can upload a short clip to the cloud.

My Eufy is spot on and my Wyze V2 had many many false notifications. Something is up with your setup. Mine isn't behind glass which might make a difference. I've been very impressed with Eufy's AI detection it is fantastic.

I haven't had any issues on mine yet.. it detects us everytime...

@@LifeHackster Yeah, what I've noticed is that if people were running then it wouldn't pick it up. I had nieces that ran to the front door today {it didn't pick up the motion - had continuous video recording on), but when they left, it alerted me (they were walking). That's what's weird about it

man thats cheap for what you get if it works. Usually all I need is 12 sec recordings,but sometines you need more. 1 eg,someone parks infront of my house and its recorded,but I have no idea what they looked like or which house they walked to cause they stayed in their car for the entire12 sec then exited. When I stop my car Im not in longer than 5 sec. Other people I now notice take 20 sec to 1 min to get out of their cars,esp women then older people. Thats just one example.

when anything moves it will catch it ,add them up and drain a batt cam in a few hours. You can block out everything except direct light,light changes ,movements of shadows,light rays. If thers a breeze enough to move anything,like limbs or leafs,birds . Dont know about insects

Yes.there is some glitching when recording live view... it doesn't come up on the time lapse or continuous recording though.

It's a fun "gadget". I like being able to set it anywhere in or outside the house with no wiring at all. The IR is pretty good but you do have to aim it properly. I've ordered an Ethernet cable so I can put the base stand in a window and get further away. Also going to experiment with a regular v2 version installing a WiFi antenna on one and seeing how far from my router I can get. I'll power that one with a battery pack. I've done that with one before in an outdoor housing setting the camera in a pasture with a spare cell phone able to watch for wild hogs in a wide area. Put all the electronics but the camera inside an ammo box with the camera on top of it.

Same here. I don't even know the purpose of this camera. It seems useless, so I'll probably put the two I purchased on eBay without opening the package when they arrive. I do love my indoor cameras and Wyze Sense though.

Yes.. there is the Eufy indoor cameras for 2K resolution.. 1080p..we have wyze v2, EZVIZ C1C and Yi cameras.

You can use travel mode scheduled recording if the WiFi signal to the base station is weak in your backyard...but you do have to process the footage later on and browse on the continuous recording to find the footage..you can also do time lapse..I wish they will implement the motion detection and recording to the micro SD card soon.

which reminds me, I think its playback mode doesnt have the spikes in green . The cont recording does. Or is it visa versa? Any how,sure wish they had motion spikes so it would make searching for any movements during night recording easier

yeah they know how to bob and weave. They are intent on everyone getting the complete package and by now just from experience, they know how to get it done one way or the other.

As to google search.. if they are really following their "not security camera..not security company principle", then they have to tell their distributors like Home Depot not to buy "security camera keywords" for their adwords campaign and not to associate their brand with security in SEO (search engine optimization)...but they don't because there is a big market for it... Their cameras will not just come up if they or their distributors are not targeting those keywords. The same thing with their listing at Amazon... amazon will not show them on the results unless they have the "security camera" keyword in their listing.

Home Depot, for example, isn't going to let Wyze dictate how to trigger keywords to find their cameras within HD's search engine. Home Depot is going to throw a series of keywords on it that they use for similar products because they already have data to determine which metadata tags will most likely direct a user to this result. Wyze and other companies are not involved in that process and no company is going to waste time trying to determine every keyword that is used to search for their cameras within somebody else's search engine. They do not own that search engine, they don't own the website, they are simply fulfilling a purchase order for the company. For Google, they are performing page level searches with metadata that is most likely to match a user to an intended result. Wyze can only fill out a "do not crawl" style request for their page, they can't go to Google and dictate that X product is not a security camera so do not include any security related keywords. They can make sure their own page does not reference security or include such tags, but Google's process is not granular enough to allow a site to control individual metadata elements on their search engine for crawled pages.

And as I said if they care about “not a security camera” principle..they can tell that..same thing manufacturers won’t let you bid on AdWords for certain phrases...I know SEO buddy..that is why you are viewing my videos...let me be specific..it is not really SEO it is AdWords...and keyword bidding. More subtle is on Amazon, if they don’t have the phrase “security camera” in their listing, they shouldn’t appear in the search results but they do...so they are definitely tagging themselves on those keywords...

security camera means different things to different people.

Its a short term specialty use cam,unless there ore absolutely few movements detected. Ive had it last 24 hrs max and heard others claim multiple days.(they must have been on the moon where not much movement occurs.) Mine last 8-12 hrs due to winds,lights,bushes, crawl or flying night bugs movements,esp if ir on.

Get a solar panel for it. They make them for wyze cams.

It is not a security camera but it pretends to be one..

@@LifeHackster You lost me, I don't understand why do you say that? I've been using them as security cameras, they record motions with day and time stamped, I feel secure with them up and running, what else do security cameras need do to be not pretending to be one????
