Did you ever get the Wyze Cam V3 to turn the light after motion detection? Does it do a good job of turning on the light after detecting motion? That is my sole interest in getting one of these. I currently have the Wyze Floodlight and the selecting the camera motion detection to turn on the light does not add much to the floodlight's build in motion detectors ability to turn on the light.

What is the size of the socket ? I have a enclosed wall coach light and it has limited space.

I am honestly not sure. We would have to compare the power ratings of this socket adapter to the V3 pan.

Thanks for the excellent review. What is the maximal diameter of the Wyze lamp socket together with the USB port and cable? I am asking to make sure that it will fit into the very small lamp socket space that I have. Is there any way to turn the light on when movement is detected only at night and not in the daytime? Also is there any way to dim the lamp and brighten it only when movement is detected? Thanks again.

It can turn on when motion is detected on the camera but you can dim the light. Just power it on and off.

It has been my understanding that you use The Wyze Lamp Socket with a regular dumb bulb rather than a smart one. It may be possible both ways but I'm sort of missing the point of using a more costly smart bulb. I have mine setup with regular bulb and it's working fine. I'm just waiting for it to get dark the evening to test the auto motion detect function.

I've tried to get Wyze to work with me as a influencer, crickets from them lol. They only shipped a small number at first. I know the combo kits with a Wyze cam V3 and the adapter were shipping later in December. I was shocked I was in the first 6% but I did order as soon as it came out to try and have one of the first units for a video.

Do you have to use a wyze bulb or can I use a standard led bulb?

You can use any bulb. Most don't recommend a smart bulb, it was just all I had laying around lol.

Can you control the lamp socket as a light in Google Home and Amazon Alexa?

I just say, I didn't think of that. After checking Google Home, I don't see the lamp socket mentioned. So I don't think I can, since all of my other Wyze products show up in Google Home.

Thank you for the review. Do you confirm that you can power a *V2* camera with that socket ? I don't mind if I don't get the extra features as long as I can have a neater wiring :D

I just got one. Didn't know it required a V3 for any lamp on/off smart features, but I did plug a V2 into it and it does power a V2 as long as the lamp is on. In other words, it seems to work as a power supply as long as the power to the lamp socket is always switched on.

@@scottkaylor614 Good news, thanks for reporting this ! So if you leave the physical switch on then you can use a _smart_ bulb AND a _V2_ camera with that lamp socket. Sweet ! 😀

@@oudoulj Did you try the setup you mention above? If so, please let us know how it works. I’m guessing this setup will likely invalidate any warranty because Wyze specifically states the socket is designed for the v3. Fortunately the cams are affordable, but why buy more cams when the ones I have are still functional.

@@EboneeEyez I own a couple Wyze cams v2 but unfortunately I don't own that lamp socket (I live in France so I would have to have it sent to me => not worth it) I read elsewhere (KZfaq, Reddit...) that this socket would be able to power a v2 cam because the cable/plug/connection is the same between v2 and v3 cameras. I haven't looked up a recent video demo'ing this though so I cannot be 100% sure.

@@oudoulj Thanks for your reply! I have a few v2 cams indoors they are focused outdoors for surveillance and this could be an option to move 2 of the car outdoors with a case to protect from the elements. Unfortunately, we replaced the outdoor fixtures with built-in LEDs so swapping the light fixtures out just to use the socket would be a waste (in my opinion). I have one outdoor cam for which I have to recharge the battery about once every 6 weeks. It’s in a location that is convenient. If I was coming to France, I’d bring the sockets over. :). Happy New Year!!
