Cut the roller off your limit switch, that might get you close enough to the "origin"
@MariusHornberger
@MariusHornberger 9 жыл бұрын
Matthias Wandel Unfortunately that wouldn't be enough. But it's not essential to reach that position.

+Marius Hornberger I don't know how the switch is mounted by it looks like there is plenty of space to move the entire switch to the left so the roller hits the screw when the bit is centered over the origin.
@DanT10
@DanT10 9 жыл бұрын
Marius Hornberger Or use a shorter screw so that the switch does not hit it at all. You may have to add something to trigger the switch in that case though. Like your stuff BTW!

I appreciate honest reviews which include the bad as well as the good. I agree with you about the power plug. They should include the proper plug if they are going to sell to an international market. Like others here I like the sanding block idea and plan to make some. If I come up with a tool free design I'll post it here.

awesome idea for the sanding blocks.
@cybercapri

Your sanding blocks are easily fixed with a bit longer screw with some sort of knob and it would probably hold together just as well if not better. Granted the knob may get in the way from time to time but you can always replace with the original screw and now that problem is solved too. That block is a very clever design...
@georgem.323
@georgem.323 9 жыл бұрын
I like your sanding blocks and recalled you mentioning you wished they were tool free. I would probably try using a t bolt and make a aluminum or brass cam lever that lays flat in a groove routed into the top of the block and assuming there is enough room drill a recessed area where the base of the tbolt comes through for a spring to fit. Probably going to try making some of those sanding blocks with the mentioned changes.

Thanks for mentioning the other faults with the Xcarve. Maybe they will improve their customer service emailing and power plugs before shipping more of them to Europe. Very nice find on the motor. The stand and the handle are something we don't see much over here. Nice that your father lets you use his pool room to do woodworking (haha I know he does also). That TS is "vunderba " (excuse my poor deutch"). You might consider putting some pads on the pieces that go on the underside of the new assembly table/xcarve table. That pool table felt and those rails damage easily and will definitely mess up a good shot.

On your sanding blocks: I wonder if you could use rare earth magnets. You could mount opposing sets, being sure that one side is recessed so it could not slide.

You can look from another swith on Digikey matching you needs, perhaps moving to smaller proffile or different mounting points. The x carve electronics looks a bit ghetto. The led blinking and fan blowing when you move the stepper .... yeah, a current return confirmed. sure they take in account. Like flashing the controller =)

hey Marius a tip for cutting with ur table saw lower your blade so the teeth just like half a centimetre above workpiece it will make cuts smoother and easier ur blade so high means when you push workpiece through it gets teeth in the beginning then just metal and teeth again make it so it's all teeth its safer too! have a nice day Liam

I had the same problem with plug even if I bought EU version of Shapeoko 2. They said me, they don't have cord with EU plug. But I can't say anything bad about their customer service. You should count that we are in EU and there is pretty big time difference between us and USA.

Marius, I noticed you don't set your sawblade height on your table saw as it is suggested (that is half a tooth above cutting material height). Is this something you do on purpose for the video to look good? When using the blade guard I also set the height so that the guard almost touches the material. This way the dust extractor is more efficient. By the way, what do you use to maintain your table saw? Mine is 4 months old and looks a lot worse than yours. A lot of scratches and weird colors already.
@MariusHornberger
@MariusHornberger 9 жыл бұрын
+JohanTwinsen That "half a tooth above the material" is kind of... Not all saw blade teeth are the same size. But I know what you mean. I don't always care about the exact setting for each cut (takes up time). And it doesn't make a cut quality difference or is unsafe. When my dust hood touches the wood, the teeth extend about 1cm. When I got the saw I coated it with WD40 and since then I did nothing. The small scratches you can't see in the videos, but I take care to not throw tools or other hard stuff onto it. I use it with care.

Jetzt möchte ich damit aber was bauen was viel Wasser aushalten sollte. Was ist den da am besten um das Holz zu verhindern aufzublähen? Und was die Farbe vom Holz nicht so stark verändert..
@MariusHornberger

+Chrissclicks Mein Tipp wäre anderes Holz zu nehmen. Sonst hochwertiger (Kein Baumarkt) lösemittelbasierter Lack. 4-5 Schichten.
