Hi i just got into my favourite TV show again and still in love with these two. Happy to see i'm not the only crazy fan still hère today. But i realised they are the best soulmates Nevers written in TV show despite all the great show we have today. Mulder and Scully are perfect beyond everyone and even an appearance of the actors on interview IS delightful ! ( Aka Jimmy Kimmel show...❤️❤️❤️😍)

@@emilybarker3240 In Sein und Zeit, their behaviour was quite different the next day than it was the night before. Scully opening the door when Skinner came by the following morning, she was quite disheveled, her hair was a mess and her demeanor was like she was exhausted. She acted like she certainly didn't sleep on a couch alone. Why she also had removed her jacket and her blouse was almost half open...? There was something off about Mulder's behaviour also. Also him willing to be removed from the case the next day and it didn't felt like it was simply because of his mother. 🤔

My take is that after Millenium kiss they started to have a sexual relationship but Scully still dreamed of a more traditional life and she knows Mulder has a mission more important than everything. She often asks him to live his life more and not work so much for that reason. Then once she meets this old flame and realizes that a life with Mulder is a good life and that she is 'fairly happy' with him she decides that this is what she wants even if they will never be a traditional couple. Oddly enough I think after Closure when he finally learns the truth about his sister Mulder starts to reconsider his own choices and might be open to slow down for Scully's sake. I think his last conversation on Requiem was about that she has more to do with her life than following him around and he will go with her. Shame the aliens kidnapped him and delayed those plans. Although I think that was the implication of the ending of Existence. I hope one day CC publish a tell all book and we can fit the timelines. Although I suspect we actually were witnessed to a lot of first in this couple we just saw it so vague that barely registered.

I'll copy paste a comment on this subject someone made that I found interesting: That it was ongoing between them. They consummated here. the relationship turned sexual and it continued with subtle shifts in their dynamic = more flirty, playful and romantic and more hanging out at mulder's apartment mostly. I'm still torn on William being conceived here but even with the revelation with CSM in the revival. Ya see, When Chris Carter makes truly shitty decisions and tries to retcon his own series. I simply delete (Mulder's brain disease = gone, CSM's medical rape = accepted but by 'creator' meaning he used science to manipulate but they're still Mulder's swimmers, with William being conceived naturally. To back myself up on that i refer to the commentary when the writers say out straight William was always Mulder's but they wanted to tease for as long as possible but the written narrative was planned as Mulder being his father. Also Frank Spotnitz saying out loud that Mulder's the father. Chris Carter remains with his head up his ass though. Mulder's William's dad period.

As someone who i want to believe is much like scully emotionally/in her character thats shown til this point anyway i can tell you its not one thing but a whole host of them. Ill try to keep it short and sweet but i do have a tendency to ramble. 1) scully since birth has been very much a daddys girl. Idolising her father shooting with her brothers wanting to join professions that are noble and highly respected aka saving and protecting people (medicine & fbi) as her father does/did. She is truly in a mans world shes a strong female but she needs and wants to be considered as an equal as a person before a female so she leans towards one of the guys while never being a part of the boys club she retains her feminity while guarding against the vulnerability it brings her and often refusing to do things based on the female angle like remove herself from cases when she knows she a target or in danger so often her tough bloke act can leave her more vulnerable than if she had bowed out but bowing out would be admitting weakness and effectively agreeing that shes not one of the guys and is lesser or weaker because of her sex. This is shown in various episodes ill give specific examples if need be but i think anyone whos a fan will know these points to be true. 2) now ive mentioned her character/driving force her core if you will you can see hiw that works with this specific situation. A quote that sums up scullys relationship with men overall is call me baby and youll be peeing through a catheter" paraphrasing here - she has a brother and father and female members for that matter who as the youngest often treat her not necessarily in a malicious way but a protective i know better condescending way which for scully isnt caring ahe doesnt want someone to stand in front of her she wants someone to stand beside her so they can fight together. She doesnt need a knight in shining armor to whisk her off her feet shes no damsel shes anti damsel and when she feels even remotely close to helpless or emotional she hates it so she distnaces herself and also hides behind logic because if she gave herself the chance to be vulnerable to really let her feelings take hold as mulders do then she wouldnt know how to handle it so she often avoids or shuts down her emotional or female side and tries to win over it and solve it using logical often male methods (in talking stereotypical male female aspects which mulder and scully are not thank god) scully isnt the heart to heart type hence when mulder often says feely things (very scientific term i know) she reacts with humour as a defense mechanism either brushing it off or making fun of etc like i love you scully and she says oh brother and tolls her eyes and walks away, or when he says marry me and she says i was hoping for something more helpful etc any romantic connation ends much the same like the reason they took so long actually getting together is because they both cant do relationships they both have serious walls mulder fears anyone close to him not only wont believe him or in him but will work against him and that if he does care for them theyll leave him willingly or not so hell lose them like samantha or most importantly for mulder he wont be able to protect them that theyll become trapped in the same situation he is knowing something is true REAL yet being powerless to do anything so it terrifies him that lack of control - as with scullys cancer and many other things - which he expresses himself against all the lies by being honest always saying what he thinks not caring what people think etc and also acting recklessly doing what he believes is right regardless diving head first because hes terrified that if he stops to think hell freeze up and be powerless like he was when he lost his sister. As for scully well she fell in love with mulder and couldnt even recognise it and when she did shed write it off as caring for her partner as caring for another person as natural because hes always done the same even when she goes against her own instincts even when she breaks rules and logic common sense she still gives all of herself ahe can to mulder to supporting him to protecting him from consequence to thethering him to reality knowing the best way to fight is by beating them at their own game ie indisputable proof solid evidence anyway theyre yin and yang. Apart theyre formidable in their own right but together their unstoppable which is why the powers that be often tried to get between them. Even the christmas ghosts couldnt succeed theyre SO great together because they make up for what the other lacks they make the other be better and also tame their "flaws" strengthen their weakness their teue partners which is what they both always wanted and needed. Not to sound cliche af but they really do complete eachother. 3) so scully in this specific case is reverting to her natural default self and avoiding the emotion avoiding the possible outcomes and giving herself time and space to protect the vulnerabilities shes just blown the walls open to and prepare for any outcome that will come when mulder wakes and then next see eachother. The last thing she wants is to be in her knickers in his arms vulnerable mind body soul for that possible shitstorm. I mean they literally opened a can of worms you cant take it back and shes terrified now after acknowledging her feelings that mulder wont see her as an equal anymore that theyll lose the relationship they had and shell ultimately lose him. So she gets dressed in a controlled manner reflects on their curly pretzel (i believe mulder said that in a previous ep) and is assesing the situation logically makin a game plan and going home because 1)she wouldve anyway had she not fallen asleep earlier i mean its just logical she needs her stuff her clothes toiletries etc 2)they arent bf/gf they dont live together etc theres no expectation or ground rules in place for her to stay the night shes on extrmely shaky ground and she hates it. 3) she doesnt want to put herself out there and expect it to be more than that intimacy so if she controls the environment the situation when she can then shell feel like its a partnership and their on equal footing and its not her at his mercy at his place in his bed with his things etc they need to meet again on equal ground neutral ground until they can sort of feel eachother out gage what they are now and where to go from there. Do they pretend it didnt happen and go on as normal or do they act the same on the job but off work assume theyre romantic roles do they combine the two since for the both of them their feelings are based on friendship and partnership and cant be seperated from their daily interactions at work or elsewhere but are simply who they are when theyre together. I mean theres that rule scully mentioned at a hotel that male and female agents cant share a room not dont have to but cant are forbidden to. All of these things are running through scullys head because shes logical shes constantly considering consequences and battle plans like her father no doubt imparted she sees it all and it scares her she wants to believe in a passionate and fearless way like mulder but she knows she cant and that she has to be the one who will be grounded for the both of them. And mulder well mr puppy dog cant hide his feelings but thankfully hes always gazing at scully so nothing new. (Love mr rain maker hollman?) And now that hes expressed those feelings that hes finally found someone whos his one on the entire planet his touchstone etc hes at ease he feels safe and happy and basically hes peak happy so hes all dreamland vulnerable cloud nine. Hence his sleeping deeply not even stirring when scullys moved and up and about. I mean the dudes so stressed/chaotic that his apartment his office are constatly messy and rather not impersonal but surrounded by x files by his stuff even in boxes hes very honest overall no need to act a certain expected way or whatever but hes guarded like tucked away in a fortress almost so knowing that hes finally able to relax in bed like that i think speaks a lot i mean dudes not a r&r sort of person even at home. Hes very basic needs rinse and repeat. Idk just me babbling on haha.

I don’t think she left him like a mistake. I always thought this was early morning and she had to get up for her work day. When you leave like a mistake you just grab your clothes and run out of there. She’s casually getting dressed. She also needs to go back home to get new clothes which is why she’s up before him. Scully also knows mukder never sleeps so she isn’t going to wake him.

They did sleep together GA confirmed it and she wrote this episode. They did IVF not because of their lack of sexual relationship but because she had infertility.
