They don’t make them like this anymore. While a serious crime thriller/Sci-fi series, they would quite often have fun with episodes clearly made for laughs, without the quality of the characters being affected at all. Nowadays, everything is about politics and sex, plus no fun at all. That is why series like this are all the more special.

Well, Mulder is a real surname. A quick search online says it originated in Great Britain in the 11th century. Scully is an Irish surname and is actually a bit common in some parts of Ireland. I wonder if that's why Chris Carter had Gillian Anderson dye her hair red. She said in an interview her real hair color is blond!

I discussed this with David - his mother's maiden name was Miller and his son is known by his middle name - Miller. Scully was styled after Clarice Starling, according to Chris Carter.
