I was taking swimming PE class for none swimmer. Pool depth from 3’ - 12’. We had about 30 students. Teacher typically asked us to swim across the pool at 3’. She saw me practicing backstrokes. She told me to swim from 3’ end to 12’ end. She was literally watching me walking along the pool. The moment my body hit the 8’ deep water, my mind was thinking the water sure is cold suddenly. Within a split second, my body sank like a rock. It happened so fast, I didn’t have time to yell for help. I thought I was around 6’ deep, so I could kick myself up to swim forward. Unfortunately, I was floating in the middle. I couldn’t push myself up. I saw my limbs going crazy trying to hold on to something. But there was none. I heard my teacher yelling “Dive! Dive!” none stop.... To a point, I no longer could hold my breath. I stop breathing from my mouth. I started swallowing pool water like none stop. Suddenly, a voice told me to DIVE. I dove like 🐬. I was literally 5’ away from the pool wall, despite it was 8’ deep. When I emerged from water, all students were all out of pool and watched me horribly. And my teacher was about to use long stick to “rescue” me from the poolside. I thought I was going to die. I couldn’t swim for a month. And my teacher told everyone NEVER EVER trying to be hero to rescue an drowning victim. The rule of thumb is to ensure your own safety first. A friend of mine who was master swimmer actually got panic when he first did open water swimming at Lake Washington. Never underestimate mother nature, especially any water surrounding.... 🙏🙏🙏 I always bring swimming googles and boogie board as my floating device to beach. I never ever try river nor lake. 😳😑😱
