Hello everybody,
I've notice in the beta, that the introduction new xenon ships, have increased the xenon ship production, and trigger some big swarms invasions.
That is why I think the Raptor will be my to go ship for the beta, and later for the 7.0 when it will drop, because of its AA defence and fighter capacity, as it seems that I will need all the interceptors I could get (in my case it helps that my bombers can also intercept).
Other observations:
- the AI improvements seem to make the S bombers focus firing torpedoes. That have the side effect of sometimes having fast fighters getting caught in the explosions of their own torpedos, so no more zero casualties for the bombers wing when dealing with capitals. Not sure how to feel about that, I can afford the losses, but does not sit well with me...or, are zero casualties unrealistic in large scale combat? More realism? Perhaps...
- I show you what I do with rescued crews. If the rescued crew have good engineering, they go to service crew, if they have good morale, they go to pilot group training, if they are low in everything, they get fired.

Yeah thats why i switched to Blastmortar Bombers. They won't kill themselves. They'll just die sometimes (but less often than Torpedo) cause they hover around the K and get shot.

I started a new game in the beta to test some changes with the AI, I think what I like the most were the changes with ZYA, now it has defence platforms placed in such a way that they seem to be manual, very efficient, both in all its neighbouring sectors to Xenon and ARG, but the most impressive thing is how the economy of the Splits has improved, they still have a very large deficit in logistics, but now I can see 3-4 raptors full of fighters, several squadrons of rattlesnake, things I had never seen before. By the way, these same raptors have been incredibly efficient at destroying passing Xenon and ARG destroyers, I haven't noticed any significant losses in these carriers, but best of all, they haven't suicided these troops on Xenon platforms anymore. I'm going to test capturing one to see how quickly it will build a new one or if it will build a new one at all. But so far, I'm extremely excited about 7.00, the simple fact that I can start a new game and not have to think "I need to get strong quickly to protect the splits or they'll die in 20 minutes" is incredible.

Good to know that they can build Raptors and no longer suicide them on the first K their encounter. 🤔 I still think that the split would be able to stop the xenon onslaught more effectively if they would spam Chimeras and Mambas, VIG style.

That sounds incredible, I never understood why their own shipyard, fully dedicated to build raptors, was idling while having abundance of needed components.

In my game ZYA and FRF as still as economically dead as they've always been. Not much left of ZYA at this point, just the three Zyarth Dominion sectors with barely any ships. Everything else is taken over by xenon.

Lucky you in my game i havent seen a single split destroyer in a long time. All my destroyers are tasked to defends their Core sectors ( cant let the forge fall ) we are badly outnumbered. My New raptor in in construction. Hopefully if it s that powerfull we can counter attack soon

Ouch. Quite a few by getting inside the torpedo volley even before torpedoes reached the K.

I'm watching too many videos of yours. Had to stop playing for 2 week, awaiting parts to finish my new PC. I can't wait to jump back into X4 😂

Indeed, congrats on the new gear. 🥳 I was also eyeing some possible replacement for my ageing NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, and the prices are sheesh. 😱But, the old girl still stay cool at about 70 degrees max (Celsius) and its score on 3DMark 11 Performance is still an optimistic 19180. 🤓

@ragnos28 thanks a lot, haven't had a desktop PC for like 20 years, gaming mostly on laptop and console, but I'm fed up with the noise in gaming laptops, time to go back to PCMR at its finest 😄

And I thought a beam/pulse raptor was impressive. I tried to use the Raptor once, but by the time fighters launched, Xenon fighters were already attacking the carrier group. That's the only downside. Being able to carry as many as 100 fighters (I split the interceptor/bomber group to 80 and 20), is great, but they take a long time to launch.

Above all, the Raptor is AA beast. Hell, if there are no xenon capitals in the vecinity, and only S/Ms, there is no need to launch the fighters, I just aggro some with the L beams, gather the pilots on the flight deck and watch the fire works. 😎 Bonus, my interceptors and bomber Chimera have pretty much similar loadouts, 4 neutron gatling and a launcher, interceptors have smart missiles and bombers have torp launchers. In other words, in case of emergency, my interceptors can bombard and my bombers can intercept, so with position defence, I can have either 100 interceptors or 100 bombers in the field. Slow launch is not a problem, if you don't park the Raptor under the turrets of a K or I, and even if some gate ambush happen, just engage the engines while you launch fighters, the hull will hold until fighters get out to engage the attackers.

Raptor is amazing, best show with carriers. I think the S ships are kind a weak in battles. Cheers !

Hey. 🙂 S ships are and will remain my refuge from the destroyers (and M ships) AI 😋. Part of the reason I consider X4 to be "World of Carriers" in space. 🤓 I have wished for it to be "World of Battleships" in space, but that title belong to X3TC.😉

@@ragnos28 I don't have time to play X for a while, so your channel is my main source of X4 news. Thank you =) Are you saying that the L and M ships AI is less competent that it was in X3TC? And the latest patch didn't change that?

@@Livanskoy In the case of L ships, destroyers in X4 suffer from the usage of frontal main batteries, semi fixed guns, that are difficult for the AI to aim. In short, in X4, the devs tie up most of the damage output of large and sluggish ships in forward guns with a limited range of motion, but did not provide an AI (or rather scripted behavior) that can handle positioning and keeping the nose toward the enemy at the same time. Meanwhile, their usual "nemesis", the xenon capitals K and I, that have only turrets, thus don't require alignment, are way more effective in dealing dmg, not because their AI is better, but because their ship design is better suited for it. Plus, the AI will attempt to align the destroyers to the same plane as their target, losing time and dps, and exposing themselfs to enemy fire. And there is also the travel drive, that the AI misuse, deactivating it either too early or too late, again not an issue in X3TC. As for M ships, they are slow, clumsy and have no concept of keeping distance from their targets, even when using long range weapons, like missiles and torpedoes.

@@ragnos28 Got it. I remember reading somewhere that installing 1 Mass Driver or other long-range weapon on a torpedo ship could help with the distance problem, but never tried it.

Ty, man. Well, there was a time when the Shark with its instant travel drive and instant launch of fighters, was looking rather good. 😋But in beta (and possibly in 7.0), with lots of xenon S/M swarms, I need good turrets and 40 interceptor Mako are not gone cut it. And Irukandji also suffer from the change in bombers torpedo usage behavior, and I can't use them to also intercept like I do with my Chimera bombers. 🤔

Not to the K explosion, their own torpedoes explosion. Actually now, with the delayed explosion, caused by the new destruction animation, fighters have more time to clear the explosion, so that is not what kill them.🤔 It's even worse with Irukandji, because of their speed. Like I said, dying to their own torpedoes blast, seem to affect fast bombers, in particular.

@@ragnos28 i think the game wants us to use slower fighters as bombers, while we use faster agile ones as ship imcapacitators and dogfigthers

@@raulomon95 That would have the usual downside of slow bombers, being vulnerable to escorts and turret fire. 🤔 So, I don't think I will give up the Chimera for split and Irukandji for boron , as bombers for solo carrier gameplay. That being said, this change seem to also affect Eclipse bombers of my argon fleet, and they are pretty slow.🤔 The change do seem to make M bombers more effective tho, so maybe there is potential in that. 🤔

It was, until the Shark was introduced, with instant travel drive, making it the only real fast intervention carrier, and instant launch of fighters with 80 fighters capacity, if you occupy the landing pads. But, now in beta, with the new xenon ships, that spur some change in xenon ship production, fielding large swarms, made the Raptor's 98 M turrets an atractive feature. Plus, the fire and smoke effect, increase now the torpedo consumption, so more bombers are required, so the number of fighters fielded by the Raptor, give it another needed advantage.

@@ragnos28 I always found having my M bays filled with dragons with torpedoes enough do deal with anything, plus the damage the raptor puts out just loaded with lge plasma. I generally have 2 kinds of kit out for my smaller fighters boson lance is terrible if in sector but the heat mechanics and cool down weren't an issue in OOS so the DPS output was absolutely insane even the S ships would become dangerous against capitals. Blast mortars on my Ms was always nice too I haven't really given the boron ships a big look yet. Waiting for the new update to drop before I start another game where I'll look into them much more. I guess the instant deployment would be a colossal advantage. Ive seen a lot of experimentation with the new Teladi ships and gunboats on the pads giving the thing complete "flak" coverage in all directions without sacrificing high damage turrets

@@geraldford9967 I don't use M ships with my carriers because of their atrocious landing time. Its even worst in the case of the Raptor, with its single M landing pad. For the other carriers I use them as stationary turrets, and that's about it. All I can tolerate is to use a single M ship to colect the bailed crews, the new mechanic introduced in the Beta.
