Anybody remember that Microsoft had THREE major versions of the Xbox 360 Dashboard? Originally it was the BLADES style (which I loved)...then they switched to the NXE look that introduced Avatars and stacked moving boxes...and then finally Metro which is the flat look they use today.

gaming is expensive. i just wait for consoles to die out then pick it up. i don't think I'm really missing out on anything if i don't play it as soon as it comes out. hell, you can't beat $20~$30 games

For the "Fat" Xbox 360 it has several different motherboard models. The first to come out was the Xenon model with no HDMI. Those were very common to overheat. Then they followed up with the Zephyr model which had HDMI and they added a extension for the GPU head sink but was pretty much the same as the original motherboard so overheating issues were common. Then the Falcon motherboards came out which had a smaller 65nm cpu and 80nm GPU so it was a little less common to overheat. Then about a year later in 2009 the Jasper version came out and it had a smaller 65nm gpu and cpu and a better heatsink on the CPU, this model was not prone to overheating and were very reliable. Then the model S and E had a very similar motherboard that had a 45nm combined GPU and CPU with a much better cooling solution and the fail rate was very low. So basically if you are into collecting a Fat Xbox 360 then try to find one with a Jasper motherboard so anything later then 2009. I had a falcon Xbox 360 and it was rock solid its entire life but I would still recommend the Jasper if you can get your hands on one.

The best thing about the Xbox 360 was Netflix party mode! Sadly it was killed and very little people know it existed. So much fun

I still have my original version of the console, however I recently bought the Star Wars R2-D2 Slim model (insurance against a Red Ring issue ever happening in the future) and I love it. I haven't played my 360 very much for quite a long time, and now I am finding super cheap games for it at second hand shops and with my R2-D2 sounds from the system when I use it, I can't stop having fun with it. :) Also gotten into the Wii and I'm loving that console like it's brand new once again as well. Now is DEFINITELY the time to be buying games for these consoles. The games aren't going to get cheaper than this, that's for sure.

X360 is still sooo much fun, still keep the 1st with a damaged dvd-player and an E generation, will never sell them, to much memories

After watching this video I bought a 360 Slim for $50 and I bought it not knowing it came with the Kinect sensor, Kinect Adventures, and PGA tour 2013. I think I got really lucky.

I have an xbox360 slim 250gigs, and it's going very smoothly, no rings of death, no crashes (except one time happened 4 years ago and I played for 12 hours non-stop) And I can find games for around 10 - 20 riyals ( about 4 dollars), it is GREAT!

After seeing the MW3 Xbox 360 slim on this video, I had to get my hands on one. Today I scored one for 100$ with 2 controllers and 7 great games. Thanks for the guide!

Jasper edition of motherboard fixes the problem with rrod. I have bought mine in 2008 and played it hardcore for many years. No problem.

I did the Beta test for the Kinect and still have the camera they sent me and the testing software/games on my 360. I was really impressed with the device and especially its ability to detect so many languages/dialects and accents (that was part of the testing program). I personally didnt think motion gaming or motion menus would replace the trusty controller, but parts of the technology have found new homes in other tech..most notably voice recognition.

The original Xbox 360s made in 2009-2010 were much better than than the ones from 2005-2008 plus HDMI was added in mid 2007.

If you're buying for Xbox look out for Compilation games. Games like Konami Classics Vol 1. or Sega Dreamcasts Hits or Capcom Arcade Classics. These are Discs that contain Multiple Xbox Live Arcade Games that might not be available to purchase in the future. Games like Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, or Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, or Castlevania Symphony of the Night or Sonic Adventure. Yes you can still get them for now, but these are Hard Copy versions of these games and there's no PS3 version so keep them in mind when you collect for Xbox 360.

Forza 3 and 4 I rocked do hard. I just started playing 4 again with my dad on a steering wheel. It's an awesome experience.

You guys never mentioned the original Xbox360 has partial backwards compatibility with the original Xbox.

I bought an original style 360, w/ 60 gig HD, a few years ago (April, I believe) for $80 at my local movie rental shop. A few months after I bought it (start of summer) it developed an odd habit of occasional & seemingly random freezing with 2 flashing red lights during auto-save in MineCraft. I took the machine apart and wouldn't you know... the heatsink fins were completely clogged with dust. It took 2 cans of compressed air, & invested some time using my shop vac's crevice tool... but I eventually managed to get it nearly spotless and it hasn't given me a problem since.

I still use my xbox360 because it’s the only gaming Machine I own

Weird how you guys didn't mention the 360 Elite which fixed the red ring issue and it had HDMI before the smaller systems starting coming out.

I've just returned to the 360 from Xbox one!! I've got the E with 500gig HD, with several of my favourite 360 games, like Gears and Halo etc, you can play right of the bat by just putting the disk in the drive, brilliant, I'm totally enjoying my gaming again, the 360 still the best.

Just got a used xbox 360 slim black from ebay. This console is amazing. I found out the hard way that I absolutely need hdd so I ordered two 250gb oem internal hdds. Can’t wait to play and save my games. My 360 was a bundle deal, came with 11 games.

I've gone through several S models due to disc drive failing to open. the E model is the quietest and most reliable. 90 percent of people have a receiver from this decade and are fine with just HDMI audio. Mine sounds excellent. In fact my 360 sounds far better than my XBOX ONE for some reason.

Love all the 360 videos you have made. It might just be my favorite console of all time and I go back to the Atari 2600. It was my main gaming console for at least 8 years until the One really got going. I am sure I will get a lot of hate for that, but in terms of enjoyment, amount of games I played, etc the 360 is on top for me. Of course I had 3 Red Ring. My second one hit literally days before Halo 3 launched, but luckily I had bought the Halo 3 console and used it until my repair from MS came back. That has been sitting in the box pretty much since that day for fear it would RROD on me.

when I was little my first console was a modern warfare, three Xbox 360, and for years and years and years, I thought that the bootup sound was the same for all of them. But I'm so glad I got the modern warfare three version because ooh that sound is good.

I bought a new Xbox 360 E 500GB a couple of months ago, and even in 2016 I find that it's a competent console that still works very well. It's smaller than the first version and it's almost dead silent (so perfect for the livingroom.) I'm surprised at how much I like it :) And yeah, I've got 3 different Forza games thus far. I've been playing GT for almost 20 years, but Forza is just as good, at least for my taste. Lost Odyssey is the next one I have to find. Couldn't find it in retail here in Norway.

I know this video is six years old. I was rebuilding one of my xbox 360 consoles and had this playing while i worked on it. I have at the moment 8 working 360 consoles love that system i even have a 2005 model that has never had rrod or been opened in my collection.

I think the RARE games were underrated on the 360, KAMEO, Viva Pinata were great

Now, maybe it's just me, but Metal Jesus' attitude and just the way he talks...he kinda reminds me of Mr. Rogers..A new theme song, based on the Mr. Rogers tune, "Won't you be my Neighbor." would be hilarious...could even call it, "Won't You Be a Gamer."

I'm only 10 minutes in and will continue watching, but the hdmi did come with all slim models but if I remember correctly the elite system was the first 360 with hdmi then later revised original 360 models came with the hdmi and the red ring fix. This was also shown with different psu wattage inputs as the system came more efficient and MS allowed older psu's to plug into the newer systems but not the other way around

I'm so glad you mentioned Oblivion. I recently started playing it again and that game still holds up. It's awesome.

Versions of the Phat Xbox 360 had HDMI ports. (Faclon, Jasper, and Zephyr Motherboard Xbox 360s)

The Xbox 360 E runs smoother than the old S. Less crashes and freezing. It's just a more solid experience because you can actually buy them brand new, unused.

I have a 360 on my living room tv and one in my bedroom. Both have the HD DVD add on and I have 3 HD DVD add ons new in box in case the ones I'm using go bad. I have about 150 HD DVD's because when they lost the war the movies were being sold for 1 to 5 dollars each... new. I got the HD DVD units at Fry's for $25 each. Good times.

Really glad with your content, and dig that you covered the console evolution that took place over the time it was marketed. Even though I have Sony consoles, I still prefer to buy the Microsoft Titles offered by both. Great job guys. Thank you.

My original 05 launch 360 red ringed after a week. I ended up going through 3 in total. I didn’t get one again til the jasper version came out. Never had a problem after that.

I had an RROD with my first Pro Model, but after replacing from MS, I have this machine still in use (OK, more my kids, than me :) - This rig runs often and sometimes a few hours. No problems at all at this Pro. For my living room, I have bought a straight black slim, which not only looks very slick, but also have this nice silent fan. - So you here the fan from the power brick louder than the system itself sometimes :)

As a buying guide I am kind of upset that the motherboard types where not talked about. For those phat Xbox's you want to look out for the Falcon, Jasper or the super rare Opus motherboards because Microsoft fixed the overheating RRoD problem for phat Xbox (as well as every phat Xbox above the Arcade version has native HDMI, like the black elite version) But great video just missing some information that could save some people money if they are looking out for these things.

I regret not starting earlier, but it was mainly because i was into the most current gen consoles, but as i get older i appreciate the 360 and original xbox more and more, the fact that almost all games dont need a patch, or to be installed over 150 gb, and the game mechanics are a lot better for obscure titles and the amount of exclusives are unreal for the 360

My first Xbox 360 is the white model with hdmi and only 20gb of hdd. I love this console and since i got it i never had any problems with it. Now the story of how i got it!! i can say that it only cost me $5.00 dollars LOL In 2015 i was working in a Apartment complex at that time. and my friend ask me to help him throw some old furniture from an empty apartment that he was fixing. while we where there he saw a box with some stuff behind the dumpster thats when he found the Xbox with everything. we took it and tested at my apartment and the only problem was the optical reader. i purchased the part for only $5.00 on ebay and IT WORKS!! a month later he found another xbox 360. This time an Xbox 360 Slim 500gb with 2 controllers, one kinect and at least 5 games. he gave it to me and the only problem was the hdmi port wont work. but the rca cable works perfect. i gave that one to a friend that has a son and i kept the white one. later on a lady gave me a box of games and at least 5 kinects but only one worked. I was new on xbox and well didn't know what games where the best for this old tech console in 2015 (when xbox one was already on the news) and looking for reviews of best "retro" or "outdated" 360 console playable games and thats how i found your channel and become a fan! first game i purchased for the 360 was from a review on one of your videos where you talk about games that most people don't even remember and it was Metro and i freaking love it also another one that u also talked about was Singularity and that my #1 game ever. i still play that game! Unlike sooo many people I've never had the RROD happen to me out of nowhere. My first 360 was the Lego Batman/Pure Elite and that thing lasted ages until I had to put it away for a while and refused to turn it on then when I wanted to play it again it never turned back on. My second 360 was the 4gig slim and after buying a hard drive it worked fine for years UNTIL the was a huge blackout in my country, it lasted months so we had a generator and 1 day idk wtf I was thinking I plugged the 360 directly into the generator which caused the slim to become extremely hot in a couple minutes and it started smelling like burnt plastic so that's the first time it turned off on me and I saw the red ring BUT I let it rest for a while turns out the hard drive got fried so I threw it away but the 360 was fine it did had trouble playing games but it was fine until 1 day it went to sleep and never turned back on.

I still to this day play the 360 it's to amazing to stop playing

That is both sad and hilarious that your 360 red ringed right after this was shot. Though to be fair it probably did that too help illustrate your point. I was lucky and mine red ringed in the last month of my warranty. But as you said mailed it off and came back and was all good That replacement one is still working (knocks on wood)

I used to own a slim I miss it dearly, but I was fed up of the lag and overheating then i temporarily got a fat until Xmas then I got a 360e it is amazing it’s so quiet and runs cooler and less laggy than the others

I've had the model E for a while now and I have to say I think it's the best. I like the style (just a matter of opinion) and how it's fairly small, it's also quiet, uses less power and uses a much smaller and more advanced chip architecture (like 18nm instead of 42nm on the original)

I’ve owned 4 Xbox 360s, 2 of which red ringed. My 3rd one almost gave out, but I voided the warranty and fixed the disk drive sticking issue. My 4th one was a gift from some friends. It’s the 360 E and it’s worked perfectly

Just been gifted the Gears of War Xbox. Came back to this vid all these years later to refresh my memory and I’m really pleased to find it has built in WiFi. Really excited to get back on some of my old favourites, especially Street Fighter 3rd Strike Online.

Just recently a guy at work gave me a 360 s with 7 controllers which one is a wireless racing, a charge dock and 2 charge cables. All works and in great condition for free, I love it and now looking to get my hands on Forza motorsports 4. Great video guy's!

I got the E model by complete accident. I bought the S model from gamestop online, and they sent me the S model box but inside was the E model. Makes sense why it was so cheap ($80 at the time in 2017) since that was the model no one wanted. I didn't bother sending it back because at the end of the day I wanted a 360 that would consistently work and thats exactly what it does.

I remember the HD DVD drive I bought about 200 movies for $1 each and went straight to a pawn shop and sold them for $5 each not a bad investment

Love your videos! FYI the Xbox 360 E is actually the most reliable and energy efficient model of them all yes it has no optical but seriously old AV stuff sell good get a new HDMI receiver. The E also has a better controller WiFi receiver over the S as well

My friend has a Star Wars Kinect Xbox 360 and now because of you I wanna buy it off of him.

I went through FOUR Xbox 360 phat systems, all got the RROD! First one lasted 20 and a half DAYS, second one lasted 2 years, the 3rd and 4th each lasted 4 years. After my 4th RROD, my mom offered to get me an Xbox One, which I had been SO reluctant to get (I’ve also been refusing to get a PS4, still don’t want that even today!), and while I did give in and let her get me an Xbox One, I did still want to get a fresh-off-steam Xbox 360 E, maximizing my chances of getting a new Xbox 360 that works properly, and I did get one, but not until half a year after I got the Xbox One!

Now I'm buying a new Elite this holidays 😁 my 80+ games have collected enough dust dammit!

I found a 32 inch flat screen TV at Goodwill for 5 dollars, 720p, and it 100% works Edit I later found out that the TV used to be used by the military and never sold to the general public, so basically I found a $5 secret military TV

I feel really lucky because my old Xbox 360 elite has never had any fatal problems. I've actually had other Xbox 360s that i bought after it and they've all died whereas my old elite has survived . Its red ringed a few times but i never had to actually get it fixed i just blew dust out of the back and let it sit for awhile and its always seemed to recover. Although i do try to use my Xbox one if the game i want to play is supported because my old 360 does sound like a fighter jet when i turn it on lol

Honestly, the model E has its perks. Its quieter than the slim, and its meant to be horizontal, which for me is a bonus because my cats would knock it over in a second if it was vertical. Plus, they are reliable and generally can be found, even new, for super cheap because most people want the slim. Not saying its better than the slim,. The Slim is definitely the one to get, but it is perfect for people who just want to play the games, and don't care about the lack of digital audio.
