Just got myself the series 2 controller and it is amazing. I checked the right thumb stick dead zone to see if it had the same problem as your’s but mine works fine. Maybe I just got lucky. The only thing that I have a problem with would be the lack of instructions for the thumb stick settings. I had to search through dozens of KZfaq videos before I found one that explained what each setting actually does.

The xbox one stick drift series 2 controller :D Got one yesterday with the authentic stick drift straight out of the box. I was afraid it would work this time, i couldn't sleep without stick drift. Returned it and i will get a new one next week from the store. Hopefully the next one has again the same beautiful stick drift, i can't get enough of that. So i can return it again and get more stick drift with the next one. Called microsoft/xbox support and they dont really care ... they would only "repair" it which would take ages. Btw: i had the exact same problem with 2 xbox one stick drift series 1 controllers. Thanks god the series 2 is all re-engineered from the inside out and the rubber won't peel off.

I own one, and haven't experienced any 'play' in the right stick's dead zone (yet, at least). Any chance the play is due to there being tension on the tall stick, while in the case? It looks awfully tall for the provided clamshell.

After 1 1/2 months, my elite series 2 controller started having issues with the RT. The RT started grinding against something inside the controller. I was going to file a warranty claim with Microsoft but with Covid 19 pandemic it would have been a month before I got my controller back. Luckily I found the receipt and the store had a 90 day return policy. I returned it and picked up another one. Hope I don’t have any issues with this one. I’ve had my Xbox One X for 2 years and the original controller still is working 100%.

Why would you just have the controller resting in your hands like that while you’re playing? Lol these KZfaq guys just SCRAPING for things wrong with this amazing controller.

I upgraded from elite one to elite two and I'm more than happy love the hair trigger stoppers and the smaller paddles fit good if you have big big hands might not be for you. Overall love it. Oh and it not as grippy as elite one but when you get sweaty you gain grip haha. So all good.

The thumb sticks on the lowest tension setting is the same exact tension that you get with a regular Xbox one s controller or the newer controllers with Bluetooth. The tension then goes up two more times with turning it all the way clockwise. Also I have no dead zone on my series 2. Looks like u got a bad one. I would be returning that right away it also has a year warranty included. You are going to return this one aren’t you? I don’t see why you wouldn’t.

Adjusted the sensitivity of my right thumbstick and I don't have the deadzone issue at all. The controller is the best on the market hands down

I had one for a couple weeks. The LB button was inconsistent and wouldn't register. Took it back. There were a lot of things I liked about it, but I'm going to wait for it to go on sale and for them to work out the kinks before I buy again

Thanks for pointing that issue out but you should've mentioned 2 things during that part - the adjustable tension capability - margin of error You likely just got faulty unit

Idk im a comp player for CoD and had the same issue but i didn't really feel anything different and went 97-6 in Domination my first game with the new controller so i wouldn't say deal breaker but i went ahead and got it replaced anyway and they fixed the issue, i love xbox support.

That was one of the best reviews I've ever seen. I got close to buying this today, but the thumbstick modules and the bumper buttons quality prevented me. I should be able to buy this controller and be fairly confident it will last 3 years, but I can't with this. I don't want to spend time and hassle returning a controller. You just got one bad controller out of probably a bad batch. Get it replaced under warranty and problem solved.

what is the height of the tall thumb stick? I have a KontrolFreek and it goes up to 12.2mm.

Thanks for the review. This is exactly the issue I was hoping would go away when upgrading from the original Elite. I assumed the ability to add tension was their admission that the Elite 1 was too loose but it looks like it’s a separate issue. Too much area of zero tension before it kicks in. Too bad.

Did you tighten the stick with the tool? I did and it’s stiff, no play.

Tighten down the thumb stick that’s what the key is for and turn you Sensitivity up in the game no issues on my end

Just got mine today and as far as I can tell mine does not have that . I've watched many reviews about some problems with them and I hoped for the best . So far to me it seemed like money well spent . Not sure the wife thinks it's the best 200$ I've spent but made a difference in my play for sure ..tension n quick triggers make all the difference

Hi, I buy the elite controller 2 this week and I noted sale issue with thumbsticks. The problem with dead zone is in both thumbsticks. I writh to the store asking if this is normal or not.

I've also had no issues. My right thumb stick is perfectly stright. Minimal movement for dead zone.

And here I am still using a wired 360 controller for my PC which I got back in 2008. Still working flawlessly today. Used for third person action/adv games and indies. Zero stick drift, no face buttons sticking, no bumpers failing, no triggers rattling or squeaking...nothing. The thing is built like a tank. The only thing that sucks is the d-pad. But in those situations where I need to use it (fighters, emulators), I will either use my arcade stick, DS3, Sega Saturn controller, Steam controller). And I got it for $35 lol. For FPS games...well m/kb all the way. It sucks a $180 controller is having so many issues. People are better off buying the base controller instead.

I have this and more problems like the (A) is not always pressed, the right thumb-stick is stack some times to +5% up - I ask for return or fix from MS.

my elite series 2 controller had this issue. I sent it in for repair and they sent me a replacement controller that has the same problem.

Had mine only a couple days...I have the unresponsive A button...as well as the RB double press issue...and also this dead zone issue...looks like I'll be returning it and going back to my original Elite (The Power A Fusion is another pro style controller which has NONE of these issues for around half the price...only drawback is it's wired...but overall an excellent Elite alternative.

I have same problem with all 7 controllers i try to buy. "A" button and right stick.

My default profile doesnt go back to standard... it just makes everything have no input except 2 triggers

I've had mine since day 1 . Haven't put it down yet. APEX fortnite and COD. I've been abusing my remote and have NOTHING negative to say. That slight thumbstick on right can be adjusted. Also the control freak contril doesn't work nowhere near as good as the elite 2 even with the minor minor slight lean to the left. My ELITE 2 AIMS better than any remote I have ever seen or touched!! Must buy!!

Thankfully I got the wave of Series 2 controllers that aren't defective. It is a good spending of my money, I am insane at CoD now. But to other Xbox elite owners do you also have a really wobbly stick, like no drift but its just wobbly.

Mine leans to the right but when compared to the Actual deadzone figure in controller settings of fortnite the series has quite a bit less deadzone when translated to stick drift. Therefore I have way more precision fine movement control with the series 2 than I did the series 1. Its a large enough improvement to provide a competitive edge when playing against other console players IMO.

If the left thumb stick was softer there would be more stick drift. Xbox nailed this controller!!

I think it might be the netting in the case putting tension on the thumb sticks in storage so if you buy one that wasn't manufactured very recently it will have this issue

have you tried tightening the right stick to see if it helps get rid of some of of the dead zone??

I have the elite two and I got one that's fine. I use it every day I don't have any issues. Even this "dead zone" doesn't exist on mine like the one your showing does

I've been through no less than 10 Elite Series 2 controllers including the "Core" versions and every single one has this issue. After a lot of testing, it seems to be caused by the fact that the tension is adjustable. None of the stock controllers have this problem. The biggest issue is when the stick gets stuck in that position, it does translate to movement in game. I first noticed it when I opened the map in MW2 and my cursor would be moving across the screen on its own. It's a huge flaw and I hope Microsoft addresses this in the Elite Series 3. They could completely remedy this by using Hall Effect sensor modules instead of potentiometers but I doubt Microsoft will. I think they use potentiometers on purpose knowing they will eventually fail and are betting on you buying a whole new controller. It's a scummy practice at best, but hopefully they lost enough money from the thousands and thousands of returned controllers to actually consider it. For $180, this is completely unacceptable. Microsoft better get their shit together or I'm never buying another Microsoft controller again.

This video is incorrect. This “deadzone”, if you can even call it that, does come with the controller brand new. However it isn’t a flaw or a defect. It wobbles when you touch it left to right but when you actually play a game, you’re putting pressure on the stick and are eliminating that deadzone. It isn’t the easiest thing to explain but all I can say is that this is a simple nitpick that isn’t an actual issue. For the record when I say pressure, I don’t mean heavy pressure I just mean having your thumb on the stick as you normally would.

My sticks are good but my triggers are crunchy as hell when I use the triggers stops. Like when I press all the way there's a very noticeable creaking/grinding that I can feel. Only happens with the trigger stops engaged to either setting. Used the elite series 1 since launch and never had any problems.

I have this and i returned and exchanged my elite controller 3 times, each with stick issues despite adjustable tension and one with sticking buttons.

I've got the deadzone issue too and it automatically drifts where ever it sits when set to 0% deadzones. Hasnt been a deal breaker for me though

Mine doesnt have the messed up right stick. You probably got a bad one (which is perfectly normal on electronics).

The lean will look more pronounced with the taller stick lol im still getting one

Thankfully, I have had no problems such as this with mine, I have had it since release and hope it holds that I do not come to have this problem. The dead zones seem similar to the xbox elite series one without this problem.

Found a way to fix dead zone you need to attach a small pice of plastic or something like that on the inside of thumb stick cover (the interchangeable one) to push down the screw a little bit more 👍👍👍

Mine does a thing where the tension doesn’t recenter the right stick perfectly so it will drift a bit at the end of game screen but if I flick it or move it it goes back to center. Idk if I increase the tension if it will recenter more consistently but it doesn’t affect gameplay when my thumb is on the stick so nbd really but I might get a warranty replacement just before the year comes up

looking for controller for pc. elite 2 or astro c40? C40 has software that can remove stick drift and is recognized as xbox on pc so it works with all microsoft games. I had the first elite and loved it..

Just got mine yesterday and right out of the box pretty noticeable stick drift. This controller is incredibly close to a full blown scam lol. I knew ordering one that there was a massive chance of a defect. But I like to live on the edge so I got one anyway

The issue with mine is if I barley torque the controller it turns off. It’s annoying af if I’m playing hard or squeeze the controller too hard it and the controller turns off. This doesn’t happen to my friends elite 2.
