This thing is so awesome. I can't believe it flopped. there's so much it could be used for. Boxing, sword fighting, mini games with friends. It could even work with VR if it had it.

the camera does jump interaction to a next gen feel. But months on in and its voice recognition remains spotty.

I have only had one problem with the voice commands, I was watching KZfaq and an ad for xbone came up before a vid, and in the ad it said "Xbox, off" and my freakin xbone turns off, I was wondering what happened and I saw the ad on my mac later on and was like "what a design floor" I have also seen bones where people in lobbies on ghosts and such say "Xbox off" and do not have the kinect attached to theirs, all the people in the lobby go "no" and then leave (I presume their xbone turned off cuz they have their sound up) it's always gonna be a problem with any voice commands

im not a fan of the xbone as it stands now, may adopt down the track for the entertainment hub side of things but this kinect is pretty impressive though there is still an ever so slight lag.

It does, and it doesn't need the camera to do it either, it can do it by microphone. There are also games that are years old from previous gen consoles that have voice recognition and instructions in them.

Thier used to be a lot of eccos for the xbox360 kinect, if thier are more than 1 kinect in a party. Did they fix when it eccos?/the kinect aduido.

People keep saying the kinect is on 24/7 is the a low power mode when the kinect stays on if I turn of the console??

it looks like they are using a 3d printer type monitor for the picture but it registers much faster

Either then the minor twitches from the skeletal tracking it ran perfectly fine. If not then point out how and where.

actually i just found a problem with using Xbox for TV. when i turn off console my tv shows a message - "no signal" and in 2 min go on stand by mode but, turning on the console doesn't turn on the TV. i still need a remote for that and if i picked up a remote, why do i need voice commands?(i do not know how xbox one will work)

it can be about gaming if they use it with the games. but you can turn on, turn off the xbox by just saying shut down or on . if you look away fro the tv it will pause the game for you. when u split screen it knows where the person to make that person the right player. you can chat without a headset its that smart that even with music or other ppl talking in the room it knows that your talking to your teamates online. And theres other things if the game developers make their game work with it

What I was trying to say is are the voice commands as convenient on the PC - like could you stream live on Twitch with one voice commands like you will be able to on the One? Or go instantly to your music/movie library with one command? Just curious. Surely there are commands like this that you will be able to do on the one that you wont be able to do on PC's?

LOLLLL good point hopefully developers make good use of the kinect. I can see motion gestures becoming and integral part of a game. maybe commanding a troop and in a war game and you need to give hand gestures as to where your unit has to go. that would be interesting.

Same can be said for any games console/TV/computer...

Voice and gesture navigation are very convenient, far more than using the controller, so you do have a use for it - say "Xbox broadcast" and you're instantly streaming live on Twitch, pretty damn epic. It can detect heart-rate and even mood, imagine what Dev's will be able to do with that, even if games that don't make use of motion detection. Imagine your character getting scared when you do, you being afraid having an action effect in-game, that's within the realm of possibility now.

This looks pretty solid compared to the older kinect

Looked a bit glitchy towards the end and wasn't reading the girls mouth correctly etc, but it's still very impressive and can't wait to see how this will be used in games.

i would say PC's can have a lot more commands. its a free API so you can find what other people did or program your self. Just tried my self yah it works. but only default commands(out of the box). Can do a lot more by downloading Windows Speech Recognition Macros from microsoft website.

SERIOUS QUESTION GUYS! I have an xbox 360.... It dunn pick up on my leg movements.... like the knee's and elbows.... in fact it shows me as a migit... is this kinect better than xbox 360's and is it cross compatible w the older version?

I am a programer and I've worked with the previous kinect a lot and the psye. The major difference is that is always connected this allows programmers to write games that utilize these feature but don't expect miracles, it's better because it has better resolution but it's still filled with glitches because of the nature of it. I wan't to use the kinect as a tool to make other things, not games

It's unique no doubt I thank it will grow on people when they watching tv and so on I think the next games will have it built in tho but is worth a 100 extra when it's a bunch of dope apps on your phone you can download that's jus as good
