As a Playstation 4 owner, I can easily admit that the Xbox One has a much better camera functionality. I mean, the kinect has been around for a while now, I actually almost expected it to be better. But I think the Playstation camera gets the job done as well, just with a little less quality. At the end of the day, even if both console's camera's worked perfectly, it's simply not a feature I am interested in. I would much rather select my options with a button knowing I will 100% of the time get the result I want rather than awkwardly speak to my inanimate console and not get the result I was looking for every single time :)

with Kinect they could make a heart rate feature for a scary horror game! that would be so cool!

I have a ps4 console. But to be very honest about these camera's and their functionality. The xbox kinect is better. The image quality is better, reaction on sound was better, ... that's because microsoft has spent some more time on that kinect. I also think that in the future this kinect will be more useful with their games. And the review was really very good. Thumbs up (y) xD

The Kinect has better colors and resolution but the PlayStation camera is smoother and the great thing about these devices is that the software/fimware that they use can be updated for better accuracy and and more functionality.

Ps4 camera is alot more clearer then X1. X1 has a lot more camera view but it can't zoom in on your face. X1 on Skype is a little pix-elated than ps4. X1 has better accurate voicing control. Ps4 can record better and socialize better?quicker during a game play than the x1. Ps4 wins with the fact its not forced on you.

Although the Kinect has a clearer picture, the PSCamera seems to have a much better FPS when recording with much less motion blur.... ...not being biased towards either console, just an observation....

I have both systems and I must admit, the kinect rocks in my book. I don't have the PS4 camera but I'm planning on buying one soon. Peace gamers.

The Kinect is obviously more advanced but I'm surprised the PS Cam put up a good fight. The PS Cam is not as responsive as the Kinect, I hope that is something that can be ironed-out with software updates. Both are very impressive.

$100 extra for that camera and its barely better plus its mandatory...Xbox dropped the ball this thing is useless. PS4 defiantly wins this portion, I would rather have an extra $100 than that camera.

People are actually defending the PS Camera here? Seriously? It is clear that the Kinect is superior and rightfully so. Microsoft has invested a lot into making it mostly work. The PS camera will serve its purpose, but there is no way it is better than Kinect. That said, both pieces of technology are entirely unnecessary, and while I will get both consoles, I will not use either camera.

The Kinect is better all Ps4 users admit it , That is why it is $40 more and it is compulsory so it would have to be better because it is made for every user not just for some. Not hating on the Ps4, the console looks amazing and would buy both if i had that type of money.

He is sitting the same distance for both of them. Saw a video of somebody reach his hand out and said " my hand is 2 feet away", it looked like it was still 5 feet away from the camera though, thats just the awesomeness of the kinect.

Is it really a surprise that the Kinect is better, people? MS worked on the Kinect like crazy to function the way it does. The Playstation Camera almost feels like a last minute add on with its features. It looks like it works ok and does some interesting things. But Kinect is Xbox now. I'm not talking smack about the PS Camera because I own a ps4 and I'll be picking the camera up soon. But it's clearly obvious which is better. And the reasons shouldn't leave you surprised.

Kinect is better ofc. If Sony wanted to make PS camera a thing for players they would. Since PS eye came they saw that there wasn't much need for one on the PlayStation. They didn't put as much money and time on it as Microsoft. I don't really care myself. But it can be fun for party games though!

it's been over a year since you put this video up. How does the voice response react when you have a cold? Does the visual facial recognition app recognize you if you grow facial hair like beard/moustache?

The Xbox One's voice commands work 90% of the time. The PS4's voice commands work about 20% of the time.

Obviously the Kinect 2 is better as Microsoft have been working with the voice connection since the first Kinect whereas the Ps Camera has done the voice connection on this cam for the first time, we need to wait for Ps Cam 2 to compare them.

The Kinect definitely wins overall, as one would expect of pricier hardware. Does the Eye run at higher framerate though? It seemed like it when you were moving your head around.

I got my ps camera just for live streaming and the playroom I never use the voice commands...I'll admit tho the Kinect would no doubt be better overall just because MS had made it clear that they were making it a core part of their system so you can expect they would try and make it as good as possible

if they were going to do side by side camera quality comparisons they should at least made the conditions the same, the lighting and his distance were not consistent. In fact when he was sitting on the couch farther away during the ps4 recording, he looked significantly blurrier than he did closer.

Ps4 fan here but i gootta say voice commands on xbox seem very good, i tried it on ps4 and you dont really have to yell at it especially if you have the headset but is pretty limited while xbox is more diverse. Kinect wants me to move up and down like an idiot but if i think they are going the right direction with voice commands and streaming, just dont make games for it. Ps4 has all that right now but it could definitely improve and add more commands.

honestly the camera on ps4 didn't have that bad of camera quality. i thought it was $50 but $60 dollars isn't that bad for something that can do what the kinect does. kinect is obviously better at doing that but this whole camera/voice command stuff doesn't even matter to me. are you honestly that lethargic that you can't even press a button underneath your finger to go to the home screen? i know this was a test but just in general. i know it's cool but it's one of those things that aren't really necessary. i really liked how you can live stream with face cam on ps4.

At least you can turn the ps4 on and off with mobile app so that means if your heading home from work you can turn it on from your phone and it will be ready when you reach home

So you can turn Xbox One on simply by saying "Xbox On", but when you turn it off you have to say "Xbox TURN Off" instead of just "Xbox Off". This may seem like nitpicking, but I think we all have that feeling that, when there's something you know you are gonna do a lot, you wanna be able to do it faster og be able to say it in fewer words.

Mandatory Kinect = Innovation. Developers know every Xbox owner has it, and implement it into their games. Xbox game experiences > Playstion game experiences. Learn to recognise.

I don't use voice commands on my cell phone, so I definitely won't use it for the ps4.

I like how responsive the Kinect is and I would use it, but mainly just to show off to your parents and relatives this cool hardware. After that, it could get boring and frustrating. Just hope they advance on the software so both the PSCamera and Kinect give you a reason to keep using them.

Sounded like he was saying "homa screen" every time for the PS4 command. I didn't even know the PS4 had voice commands. I did notice that when he waved the Xbox camera was very blurry while the PS4 camera was not. Will that equate to better tracking? I believe it will.

If you watch the other videos, they say that the Kinect actually becomes a crutch because it's much easier to control. I'll have to see that for myself of course but I am excited.

I have both systems and c'mon let's be serious, how many times you say Xbox on or Xbox go to etc and it doesn't work till after the 20th time. For the extra $100 the Kinect which the Xbox is centered around is not worth it. It barely works. Yea you can control everything but what's the point when your doing so your out of breath? The PS4 camera while it's voice commands are far less than the Xbox1, many people at Gamespot, IGN themself not this one person, and including myself. Know the PS4 has a way sharper voice command. Its easy to say PlayStation Netflix than to Say Xbox go to Hulu plus 5times before it works. While the Xbox have a larger variety of voice commands, it's voice commands is sketchy at best and while the PS4 camera has way less voice commands it's voice commands are on point and sharper and don't need people to be loud for it to barely work.

Im on the PS4 and the Xbox camera speaking response is way better than the Playstation in this video both seem really good

I've got myself a PS4 and I am very interested in the Xbox one because of it's interactivity with the kinect.

Why compare something so obvious, PS fans don't even need to comment on this one, I'm not a die hard PS fan like most, but its just common sense :| MS has been building that up and making their console about that type of stuff, Sony just wanted to give PS Move a better chance.

its crazy how the kinect was everything microsoft focused on for these years and in like 2 months sony said you guys want voice commands ok and they threw them in there so now the ps4 camera can do 75% of what the kinect can do and not only that i swear its more responsive than the kinect atleast mine is i tried my friends and it took several tries to get stuff to work but everytime i say playstation it works .............. and the ps4 camera can zoom in and out while the kinect cant so the video quality looks better on the ps4 camera and patches are gonna make it even better

Trying to not sound biased towards Xbox since I'm an Xbox user, but the Xbox one has better voice recognition and a better picture than the PS4. Except that the PS4 zooms in on the face which I think makes it better for commentaries and twitch. I think overtime the camera might get better for the PS4, but Sony has been struggling with gaming cameras since the PS2.

You can enable and disable the autozoom on the kinect :P

Voice commands? Sounds fun to have; a good investment for something in the future. The PS4 might need some more tweaking on it, but the Xbox definitely has the starting run on this one. To be honest, I STILL can't choose between these two. So close of a match.

All these fanboys are arguing because they cant afford both systems and live with their parents. Unlike me, I own both the new-gen consoles and a gaming pc. And I have to admit they are pretty much the same. No difference whatsoever unless you play all three systems at once right next to each other on three different tv's you seriously wont notice shit. However it is still great that you can do pretty mutch the same thing with the "PS4-Eye" but Sony makes just no big deal about it. Thats not a fair fight, ps4 camera has an amazing 3D feature, I remember it on the trailer with the little robot things!

Even thought the image quality is better using the Kinect camera, the PlayStation camera looks more responsive with a higher framerate, that kind of compromise is fine by me. Kinect is an amazing piece of technology for the price though (if used to full advantage)

For an *OPTIONAL* add-on the PS4 Camera does an excellent job.

I'm on the fence, I'm going to get one of these consoles soon, I've been holding off to see which one will have more camera/video integration into multiplayer gameplay, and it seems like neither of them do. I must be a minority in that I think it's pretty cool to see the person you're playing against and be on camera yourself. It's hilarious how they market it though. XB1 has 1080P video, woo woo! Yeah, but it seems like the only actual thing people use it for is the occasional skype call? You don't see any multiplayer games coming out with the option to turn on your little video window so you can see the other players and they can see you. That'd be cool as hell especially in 1-on1 multiplayer games like a tennis game or maybe a racing game having the little video window over the car as they pass you giving a shit-eating grin. God that'd be great. I'm surprised they haven't even pushed out UNO for XB1, considering how popular it was with the cam on 360. You could kill hours just sitting there having laughs with people on the cam. I'm not totally clued in on the PS4 situation though. I know the PS4 camera sales are strong, but I can't see why.

I think this review could have been a little more balanced. Personally I haven't had the voice trouble of the PS4, and I think there's some neat features on both consoles that were not shown.
