Xbox is J Cole right now lol

There's something weird going on with the mike (some humming sound). But a great video as always! Xbox hasn't only been a console for a long time and it's gotten increasingly difficult to even say what it is. It's a bunch of things. It's a publisher. It's an app on the PC. It's a console. It's cloud-gaming. It's pretty much synonymous with GamePass etc. But I agree that although I'm biased towards Xbox more than Sony/PlayStation, but Xbox/MS has to do better when it comes to messaging etc. It seems like there's rumors floating around way too often, Microsoft has a hard time shutting them down and people are panicking all the time. I still think they're doing fine. People can quote statistics as much as they want, but even when it's being outsold 2-1 or even 3-1, that's still a very large amount of people who bought an Xbox. And some people play on the PC and are "Xbox gamers" despite that. Xbox just seems like a more "plug and play" gaming solution. There's stuff like Quick Resume, not having a ton of background apps and a bunch of launchers and whatnot. Or restarting all the time because of Windows updates. Currently Xbox seems like a limited budget PC with a good price (compared to its performance) that's just more streamlined. It can't do everything a PC can but it's also the simplicity some people want from time to time. Although I do understand that Sony/PS5 makes more sense for most people, I still think Xbox makes sense for some people, like me. I greatly prefer their controller since I just don't want symmetrical thumbsticks and prefer off-set. I also like shooters and strategy games more than openworld/RPG etc. "movie-like" games. It's just a matter of preference. I'm not in the majority with my opinion and I'm fully aware of that, but something like Age of Empires 2 and 4 on my TV while lying on my sofa and not sitting at a desk entices me way more than any story-driven over-the-shoulder camera game with lots of dialogue. But that's just me. I'm not disliking Sony here, just saying that I'm not the target audience and I'm sure there are other people who feel the same way. I'm also very price conscious and Xbox just seems to give more for the same money (if we don't talk about exclusives). Xbox Play Anywhere basically gives you two copies for both platforms and if you ever subscribe to GamePass, that works on both as well. I wouldn't want to have two different gaming subscriptions active. But yea I see value in both. Not saying Xbox is the correct choice for some people, but for me it sure was. I can't really be argued away from that since I really put in some hours when I was contemplating on getting the system and I've been happy.

Far as the GamePass well drying up. Let's use a bit of logic here. MS has spent nearly $100B acquiring studios, IP and building infrastructure to support GamePass internally. It is the same thing Netflix did. They don't spend as much on third party deals, because they are expensive, and they have enough content coming from their teams to make the service appealing to most. This is more beneficial to them because they can control cost and release strategy rather than expensive third party deals. Its not that complicated.

Phil really needs to just stop talking. I do think a lot of what Phil Spencer says is completely taken out of context but he also does a lot of mix messaging. Why do a podcast saying Starfield is not coming to PS5 and then two hours later go do an interview with Tom Warren and say no publisher should ever say never to anything. Now, the more intelligent amongst us understand he meant, maybe there is some circumstance where we may consider porting Starfield to PS5 but at this moment we aren't planning or working on putting Starfield on PS5. But why even make a statement like that at a time when your community wants clarity? I also think they need to have one voice. Why is the CFO giving one statement, Phil another, Matt Booty another, and Sarah Bond another. They need to nail down a clear message and have that message communicated through one person. None of this BS would exist if Phil stopped opening his mouth and speaking in hypotheticals and mixed messaging coming from different executives. Its annoying.

Remember xbox banked on Games as a service model. Thats it. They buy up IP hope to draw in Gamepass subscribers missed the milestones as shown in the leaks. Lost the console war twice in a row. They intended to own steam as their Windows PC game store has been in shambles for years. I mean its Microsoft, owner of Windows, and even having "the xbox connection" it didn't move the needle at all. They could save it. They could go all in with a gamers friendly handheld windows edition but it's just a bunch of suits saying whatever it is you wanted to hear to keep the business going. They know exclusivity sucks. You can't make money on exclusivity if you don't have the bulk of subscribers so you sell your IP everywhere to everyone who is willing to pay. Its such a joke. I am going to sell the most powerful console for the gamer elites that must be heldback by the weakest console in the same generation with the lowest amount of storage, and ram to be sold to the masses. You cant have it both ways. Devs focus on the masses for sales. Its always about sales and timed exclusives. Gamepass is awesome for what it is. And once the money runs out and membership drops because I cant get my free months using ms rewards points or that weird $1 conversation trick to prepay subscribers they will need every trick in the book to get customers all in on that games as a service hook with actual fresh exclusive content. There is nothing originally there in that regard so they buy up the most popular franchises. You can't convert them into xbox exclusives because you cut off the sold everywhere else revenue stream. PR will always be cryptic saying whatever it is you wanna hear without a clear message. At least we got lots of great games to play while they continue to test the waters. I personally I stopped buying into consoles with PS4 & Series S being the last as PC affords the most freedom with longevity.

Look I understand your sentiment, but I think your coming off of the wrong base. All the games are still on Xbox. We know what Xbox is high quality games. Games. We just have a different industry where you have digital foundry knit picking every pixel of a game. And you have to die hard people on Twitter where all this what we're talking about is from for the casuals The casuals know what Xbox is. Look Xbox is bringing competition. They know the future and where the industries going it's going to be an interesting ride

Xbox messaging makes perfect sense. They been telling you all for 10 plus years. They suck. That’s their message. Buy a ps5 and move on.

Xbox has a player base bigger then just a Xbox console they have all of pc fan base PlayStation don’t have that just yet yes maybe a a few of there exclusives but in general they don’t have the pc fan base like Xbox does

Nothing changed with XB & MS they were always about services between Consoles and PC and they were always third party developer & publisher for over 20 years while Sony & PS changed everything from generation & exclusives from PS1 to PS4 to becoming a third party developer & publisher without PS5 exclusives on PS5 so what are u folks talking about ? XB was always leading and Sony follows cause they need the $ from PC gamers for all the Billions they lost on PS. XB is the only platform were i can keep playing my games for around 25 years while on PS u have to keep buying already bought games to keep playing them or pay for streaming and you buy a console to play games right ? so don't you want to keep playing them or don't u mind keep paying for them over and over again ? If XB and XB games like Starfield isn't interesting why do people keep talking about them ? MS games like Starfield, Elder scrolls 6, Fallout 5, Outer worlds 2, Fable 4, Avowed, Hellblade 2, Indiana jones, Everwild etc. are for XB & PC so be grateful for Sea of thieves cause it's a great game and seeing the Pre orders a lot PS players are going to enjoy it and please do i don't mind sharing but if your hungry for more then join the XB table and if that's not good enough for u fine be that way but don't ask for XB games on PS cause your hungry on PS.

Xbox is the only relevant console right now, that’s why all the content you guys put is on Xbox. It pays your bill and you are a terrible journalist. PlayStation is going to PC. PS is following the same path smart guy.
