That’s a very reasonable opinion, I have not ever used a PlayStation controller long term, but having using an Xbox controller for a while, buying new batteries every time I need them gets a bit expensive and wasteful. But I do agree the disposable batteries are much more reliable.

@@ExtraSpicyRice get a quality set of eneloop AAs and an independent intelligent charger. Be aware of dumb chargers. Use a buddy's old 18650 charger or something they often can charge NiMH chemistry. (Always double check of course)

I used a PS4 controller before, and I definitely agree. I can see why the PS5 controller was completely redesigned. Also, I agree, the bumper indents are a great addition.

@@ExtraSpicyRice USB-C was initially released around 2014. It simply did not exist yet at the time the Xbox One and the PS4 were released in 2013. Even if it did, they can't just simply change the molds and blueprints when the product is almost complete and ready to ship. So there was no way for the USB-C to make it in time for Xbox One or PS4 launch.

@@KatRollo I’m not saying it should’ve changed with the release, they had 8 years to change the port. Between the Xbox one and the Xbox series, they released a few other Xboxs where I would’ve expected some sort of change in port.

@@ExtraSpicyRice Changing the port means changing the mold for the controller which is already in mass production. Considering most people didn't have USB-C until 2016-2017, changing the mold midway in the console's lifespan wasn't really a smart marketing move. 🙃

@@KatRollo I suppose that is a possibility; however, seeing that the xbox one s was released in 2016 and the Xbox one x being released in the next year, it would be plausible that a port change would be appropriate. For example, the headphone jack was deemed a necessary addition/change to the Xbox one s controller, and by then the issues of micro usb b have been known so I could see a possibility where Microsoft could’ve changed the port as well. But then again, it is what it is, at least they changed it now and the newer controllers are compatible with old-Gen. I appreciate that you watched the video.

I appreciate your comment! I would argue the opposite, as my Xbox series x controller is holding up very well compared my previous Xbox one controller. Drift stick hasn’t set in as early as my previous controller, and the materials feel more sturdy and less creaky.

xbox one controller is definitely heavier and more well built, but all controllers are subject to drag, especially the one. the series x has more precise features like extra grip on joysticks, mechanical d pad, better feeling/smoother bumpers and triggers, but would not handle a throw across the room, whereas you can slam a one controller on the floor and it’ll work just fine

Well unfortunately the plastic itself is unchanged, however the build quality is a bit better, as it doesn’t squeak if you squeeze it like the previous model. Also, the textures are more pronounced, which does give it a better feel. Though I have to agree as the plastic probably could be better.

I didn't really notice that. Maybe that's because of the sizing of the controller, it may be more contoured on edges of the new controller.

It might be placebo; I would hope that Microsoft improved their joystick technology with the new controllers, but it's unlikely.

@@inyourgrillbrunson9575 it also could be the fact that they are newer controllers, and they would need to be broken into. Maybe your older controllers feel better because you've used them more and the joysticks are worn in.

I usually play for about 3 hours, but I don’t really get any cramping even though it’s more tapered in at the front of the controller. But I could see how you could get it though as the controller is less comfortable for bigger hands.

In my opinion it feels pretty similar. Maybe yours was a defect and you can exchange it using the warranty.

I appreciate the recommendation, I believe the analog sticks are the same and the only differences with the trigger is that it’s been sized down. On PC, you should probably upgrade to the newer controller though as windows and Xbox does fit better.

I can see where you’re at. The grips are a bit rough, but I don’t think the right stick has any more pressure than the Xbox one controller. But of course everyone is different and the Xbox one controller is still a solid choice, as they are pretty similar.

Well since there isn’t any other controller out there, if you can find the series X controller on sale I’d pick it up. My controller right now is actually holding up quite well, though there is a bit of drift but it comes and goes.

@@riri_loco as far as I know, the Xbox series X controller is compatible with Windows 11. However, you may need a dongle though the Bluetooth may work.

From what I’ve seen so far, my Xbox series x controller hasn’t drifted or had any problems with the buttons while on my Xbox one controller it developed those issues relatively quickly. I believe the durability is better, but still keep care of it.

@@ExtraSpicyRice my 360 controller lasted longer but it broke even after my second to third Xbox 1 controller started to have joystick drift.

The differences between the old controller and the new controller isn’t that big, I would keep the one that you ordered.

@@shivamkrishn Well as far as I know, the latency and the battery are the same, only the usb C changed. The battery is only different if you buy the rechargeable battery separately which also work with the old controller. Though, I'm sure you'll enjoy the new controller as I do.

@@mrslapmanuts that definitely could be problem. Sometimes when I’m using my d-pad a lot the loud sound and awkward design makes it a bit annoying.

I believe the only way that controller is louder is in it’s d-pad. In that sense, then yes, but that was purposeful to increase its tactility.

It’s going to be the Xbox series X controller of course, but I there are a few things I prefer about the original controller, such as how it is much bigger. The series X controller is definitely better in every way.

@@No-ik6qv Well there are two versions of the Xbox One controller, one that came with the original Xbox one and had no headphone jack, and the newer Xbox one controllers with headphone jacks. Yeah, sorry I meant the newer Xbox one controllers, as I just use "Xbox one controller" to group up both of them.

Same for me as my older controllers would last a few months but this controller has lasted a while and it still works perfectly.

@@cerebrum099 that’s a good question, sorry I didn’t clarify completely. My main issue with the older gen controllers was drift stick, as it made the controller practically unusable but with the newer controller it hasn’t gotten it yet.

@@ExtraSpicyRice I actually heard people even had issues with the latest controller series x. I was planning to get one but I don't want to buy something that only will last few months. My older controller which is Xbox one s also got issue just after one month I used it. It's ridiculous that I can only used that for 1 month only. Of course I did get the warranty they gave me new one but then the same thing happened. Now I don't think I can trust Xbox controller for its durability at all. It's like a cheap low quality controller

@@cerebrum099 unfortunately that’s the truth. Apparently the issue is the same across all controllers as the joysticks are made by the same company. Oddly though for the series x my controller is still working fine and I’ve had like 5 other one s controllers. But yes unfortunately Xbox controllers aren’t necessarily known for their durability.

I’ve been seeing that too for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, though to only about 40 dollars. If you find it like that I’d buy it.

I am also still using the Xbox one with the series x controller. I agree with your take on the series x console, many games are almost exactly the same on the Xbox one so it’s difficult for me to feel the need to buy the newer Xbox rather than the ps5.

You can use any USB C charger to charge the Xbox series X controller. However, you need a rechargeable battery to charge the controller.

@@hiimgrup2476 I’m not sure what you mean, but if you’re asking about the battery that comes with the controller, it’s not rechargeable. You don’t need to buy the official Xbox USB C cable if you already have a USB C cable. You need to get a rechargeable battery in order to be able to use the USB C port, as if you don’t, you can just use the normal AA batteries.

@@mrslapmanuts Well I tried using rechargeable batteries in the 360 and it wasn't a high enough voltage. They're pretty picky and only take alkaline batteries. So it would be nice if these actually take standard NiMH rechargeable batteries but people should be careful what they believe until it's shown working.

@John Smith I'm using IKEA LADDA AA's on my Series Controller and they're working perfectly - I honestly prefer using AA's because I can just hotswap them when the current ones are dead (not to mention I won't have to toss the controller if a built-in battery dies)

In my area, the controllers are both the same price, but if they’re not, I would suggest getting the cheaper one as the differences are relatively insignificant.

That’s a great question. I for one do not completely use the claw play style but I do not think it should affect it that much. The only difference is it’s narrowness.

Yeah, all controllers are very good for fighting games. Personally, I don’t play very many fighting games but supposedly the clicky d-pad may be annoying.

I’m not particular sure as I have only used the PS4 for a little while, but I believe so as the ps5 controller is bigger than the PS4 controller while the Xbox series controller is smaller than the Xbox one controller if that makes any sense.

No there shouldn’t be any difference, but for pc, you would need to buy the adapter separately.

Good question, and I do not believe it works with every game, however it does work with most games on mobile.

In the US both the xbox one and xbox series x controller are the same price ($60) so I bought the newer one. The differences are pretty few, so if you want to save 10 bucks I wouldn't blame you. Personally, I would prefer the xbox series x controller as it feels a bit more durable and it has USB C. But if that doesn't matter, I would just keep the xbox one controller. Most of my friends still own the previous controller.

I believe the Xbox series X controller is more durable. I've used it for quite some time and it has been perfectly fine, while as my previous Xbox One controller would've stopped working by now. I have not experienced drift in the new controller yet, but I did feel it on the older controller. I have not used the controller on PC so I do not know of the problem. I would suggest buying the newer version if possible.

As far as I can tell they are both the same.

There are, the newer one is slightly smaller in the grips to accommodate smaller hands.

I felt the same way for a while, but after a couple of weeks I got used to the shape and now the Xbox One controller feels quite large.

I’ve heard that they both use the same stick, but in my experience the newer controller has had significantly better durability as mine as gone a many more months; however, it is now starting to develop minor drift stick.

Yeah, unfortunately the Xbox controllers haven’t changed very much in durable I believe.

@@bhagabatmurmu4883 unfortunately you cannot use your Xbox controller with Bluetooth on windows 7 however it does work with a micro usb connection.

It works on windows 7 but with extra steps that you'll need to google. But connecting to PC directly trough Bluetooth is hell, there is a ton of lag and your controller will also get disconnected from time to time. If you truly want to play on windows wireless you'll need to buy the xbox wireless adapter v2, it connects easily, has much better connectivity and responsiveness. transfers music to your xbox audio jack from your computer and has more customization. BUT is stupidly expensive and dumb to have to pay so much extra to use a feature that you were supposed to get with the original xbox controller you got.

I’ve used to own a 360 and the og Xbox too and yeah for while it’s hard to get used to.

@@ExtraSpicyRice well I just hope that I will, idk why but to me the shape of the 360 controller is just perfect, it’s comfy, it doesn’t cause my hands to cramp or anything, idk if the new one will as I haven’t used the newer controllers for more than an hour so idk if I will get used to it, but I’ll give it a try I’m sure I can adjust, lol just been using the same type of controller since 2008 so lol it may be a little weird.

@@N64Guy yeah I understand, I used to only use my wii and so an Xbox controller was significantly different. From my experience, with enough time spent on the controller, you’ll definitely get used to it.

If you’re talking about the LB buttons on the older controller, I do not think so as the newer bumpers are made differently.
