Can just copy over your existing USB setup to a new drive after it has been properly formatted if it was working for you!

You need a fast thumb drive or SSD if you want to use HD texture packs otherwise it isn't as important.

Thanks for the video. I always use your old videos, but I'm still watching just in case I'm missing something new to this version. Have you tried the Retroach Citra emulator?. I can't get it to run anything, I might be missing something or, there's just not much to run so far - I dunno. By the way... down at Reddit, they do advice to use the Edge internal browser cause the page might not work when trying to pay for the licence, also they recommend using a brand new account if the main doesn't work.

Very good tutorial. I followed it step by step and it seems to work. However, I've never found the XboxserieX version of Retroarch. When I went on Dev store website I just find the One version. As I connected from Canada, I might have came accross a different page... One question: is it possible to download some roms to your Xbox from an external hard drive ? I didn't find a copy-paste option on Retroarch.

I'm seriously considering this however one of the guides I was reading mentions having to turn off Two Factor in order to add an account in the test environment? I can't do that. I'm passwordless and people are constantly trying to access my account. Not particularly safe. Any other options?

How do you carry over saves from the xbox to the PC? Works great on xbox but when I plug my USB to play retroarch on my PC, none of my saves carry over, even when I use the same directory location of the usb.

I tried this yesterday and it says only msix packages are currently supported. Deleted the other retroarch as well 😢, I got it to work from github, never extracted it and I used the dependencies I already had. Thanks so much. Can you please do a video for flycast? I have it installed but just have a logo box top left and options and load top right and can't find a way to select them thnakyou.

I have retroarch on my android phone with the same cores and games as my series x, yet there's a 32x and a SNES game that won't work on my series x even though I've did manual scans and assigned cores to the SNES and 32x playlist. you need sega CD bios for it run properly. make sure you tell retroarch where to find the bios to run the games.

@@andyharleychannel3817 double check the settings, retroarch will override certain cores without looking for bios files, i've been able to play a few ps1/dreamcast titles that way. There should be a guide telling you all the essential files you need to optimize cores/standalone emulators. Flycast, PCSX2, Duckstation, are all the UWPs I'd recommend using. Dolphin standalone is good but it asks to boot from USB.

It looks like you need it for n64 stuff to work properly. Just highlight the app and delete it and then install a later UWP version using remote file share. You should also change your dev storage if you want more dedicated space instead of booting from USB/external HD. If you do change your dev storage space, make sure you have all your UWPs/files on the HD backed up because you will lose them once you choose to modify HD space.

Format it as NTFS and set the the security permissions on the new drive then copy everything in from the old one.

I laterally can't log in my Dev Mode account, I've done all the methods I've tried, EDIT I did it, I pressed the Xbox button, and I went to the profile & system part and I logged in normally to my account and it worked!!!!

Your stuff should be saved to USB so you just point the directories back to the USB folders.

I have a question. How much storage would I need to allocate to dev mode. I cannot do more than 2 GB, as I need the rest for my Series games. Would that be enough, or would I need more? And how much more? PS - I will have the games on a 64 GB usb.

Hi thanks for the video. I am having a strange problem though trying to download Retroarch for Xbox Series S from the Xbox Devstore. For some it keeps saying the Network Connection is lost. But my internet is fine, I have even downloaded different products that I do not need from the Devstore and they download ok. I thought I should try to download from the official site, that downloaded ok but the folder you mentioned .appx was not there. I have actually been trying to do this for the last 2 hours but with no joy. My guess is that there could be something wrong with the Devstore download link. Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

I have tried frustratingly for over 5 hours to download this and it keeps failing with an error message saying “failed - network error”. I have tried disabling my anti virus program, my firewall etc and the closest i get is 8 secs from completion. Is there anybody that may have this on google drive, mega etc as a download link? Because tryimg to get it from the dev store is impossible for me, for some reason.

Hey there thanks for a very informative tutorial which I have followed step by step but when I get to download the Retroarch zip file from the Xbox Devstore it continuously fails to download after about 112mb? I am a bit stuck now to continue as I have paid my fee to xbox for the privilege of dev mode. Can you please advise/assist?

Choose download from GitHub instead and choose the appropriate version for the console you are using. Mesa for Xbox Series or Angle for Xbox One.

@@ArchadesGames Hi thanks for the quick response and I have tried to find the relevant Mesa on Github but can only see a Mesa ending in .appx and not a zip file could you please provide a link to the correct file as I am wanting to use RetroArch on my Series X console and am quite new with this kind of thing. @@ArchadesGames I tried downloading the appx file to my Windows 10 pc but when I open the file it won't allow me to install it? I get the following message: "This app package’s publisher certificate could not be verified. Contact your system administrator or the app developer to obtain a new app package with verified certificates. The root certificate and all immediate certificates of the signature in the app package must be verified (0x800B010A) and the install button is greyed out? Sorry but I am totally stuck dude.

Yes, you need the angle version for Xbox One (labeled as Xbox One on the dev store). If you are trying to use the mesa version (Xbox series version) it won't load.
