@@TheVetUk something forgot to mention and ask is i don't want to mod my xbox 360 (Xbox 360 Pro) and still want to put a SSD in it. does that change anything? understand why people mod them but while still connect to XBL i would rather not mess with that for now.

​@@USSWISCONSIN64 that is not possible. You have to flash a drive with a security sector that the 360 recognizes, and only certain hard drives work for that. Only 1 person has done it with an SSD, and it requires a specific memory controller and VERY expensive hardware just to make that work, so it's not feasible right now. TL;DR: you must mod your system to use an internal SSD

Is you console RGH modded ? If it is try another drive If it’s not it will not work

All 360 consoles except the xbox360 e Winchester board can be RGH modded and use an SSD internally

A Samsung 870 QVO 1tb and I plugged it into the Xbox first to format it then into a pc to copy and configure the drive

Yes it will work if you pair it to your Xbox as shown on the video it will just be a blank drive

Backup and restore for me was a pain in the behind and you could not see what it was doing so I would do the same as me configure the new drive and mount your old drive on a pc with the software shown and transfer the files manually I found that better for me I could see what’s going on and if it had not froze up or crashed I found the transfer speeds better also but it will take a while with 1Tb You can go to 2tb on external if I remember right so you could have 3tb with no issues if it’s a fast drive Good luck

Have you tried it actually in the console bay and formatted it if that’s ok it might be the usb to data connector that’s the issue I would try that first

Even with RGH you have to format the drive on the Xbox and assign the Xbox key ( the one behind the usb flap) to get it to register on the Xbox or use fatxplorer to format it I would use fatxplorer to format the drive and copy over your data or add new files as you need them

A poor RGH install can also cause freezing. It's not always a storage issue

If your console is standard ie not RGH modded it will never see it internally only external storage if in a usb caddy If it is modded try formatting it with fatxploter

Have you had a look at faxplorer

If your console is not modded, you can't swap an internal drive for anything other than a genuine Microsoft drive (or a drive flashed with a compatible security sector)

If it is RGH or JTAG modded you show be able to upgrade the drive to 2TB unless you do someother stuff on fatxplorer to allow bigger drives You could get a trial version of faxplorer to format the drive first before you put it in then see if that works👍

They are not & FatXplorer has been of little use :(

If they are not RGH then it’s difficult but not impossible to replace the drive but it might be better to get your console modded

Hi The biggest internal I have seen is 2TB and I believe due to the file format that’s as high as it can go unless someone has hacked it lately but I’ve not seen anything But you could also go with external to add extra storage I have seen these up to 8TB so you could use that as external storage Cheers

It’s a complex process and only works with certain drives but you can add a 500gb drive but maybe things will change in the future

No. Your console must be modded to do this. People are working on it for unmodded consoles but it's not practical whatsoever right now

Without RGH it’s difficult to get above 500 GB internal as the HDD has to be specially set up if you have RGH it will be easy to setup up a large drive stock 360 will not see a blank SSD 👍

It sounds like it would work but I have not used that software you could try fatxplorer as that’s made for the job

Yes you can install the SSD but you will not be able to transfer all you data you can swop some over but not all and definitely not add a new dash or load games straight from the drive you would still have to use your disc to run them You can use a USB to SATA transfer cable to move files over but you are limited

And the SSD works plugged in with a USB to sata But that is very slow because the Old USB slows down the SSD. But through Sata it's supposed to be faster. So I plugged in the ssd Internally through Sata But it won't detect the SSD. And I bought a computer recently But all of my stuff transferred so I don't think I need it unless it will it help me have my SSD get detected?

The 360 will not see it if it’s not because it’s not formatted correctly and the file system is not on it SSD on a 360 is not for speed it’s for seek time and reliability the 360 transfer rate bottlenecks the SSD If your not RGH modded your stuck with external unless you do some special mods to a western digital drive 👍

@@TheVetUk How do I RGH, and when plugged in with the USB externally It is slower than my hard drive originally in it. But the SSD is not just for speed, I didn't want my Xbox crashing like it normally does. And When SSD externally plugged in with USB It crashed and froze, and the loading times were really bad. It took 4 minutes to load Minecraft When SSD was plugged in using USB But with hard drive used internally it loads in 20 seconds. The USB is a big bottle neck. Does using RGH mean I have to get rid of my gold subscription.

To make an SSD work you need a Reset Glitch Hack done on your xbox360 at present no other way to get the Xbox to see the drive as Microsoft locked the drives they made Is your console modded ?

At the moment no only RGH modded consoles work with SSD’s and bigger drives

I have transferred anything I wanted to so I see no reason this would not work 👍 the xbox360 will play mp4 as long as you use the right codec

Ah is it the s model I think they had a 500gb I remember know 👍 there is work around ratxplorer that is trying to get bigger drives to work on retail systems but at the moment 1TB is only on a RGH modded console But I’m sure someone will figure it out Cheers 🍺

Unfortunately not only specific drives work from western digital to use an SSD it needs to be modded but things might change in the future

You only need a serial number to format the drive. Swapping drives around should work fine between RGH consoles

Yes you can but not really worth it as the transfer speed of the Xbox will not make use of the SSD as you use a SATA to ide converter to use a modern drive Yes you will need to soft mod or hard mod your console first to use another hard drive as they are locked

I believe kwcdata meant original as not modded xbox 360. I have the same question. I would not like to make any modifications to the motherboard. I have heard from multiple sources, that the xbox 360 will not let you format the ssd, unless it is rgh modded.

Sorry it does not work on unmodded console but you can do it by setting up a new drive on a pc with a bit of work maybe I should do a video on it ?

Hi to have higher capacity internally yes RGH is the only way atm Microsoft only released up to 500GB HDD’s to market and the security sectors have not been available for higher capacity drives and only with western digital drives I have been looking into this with the a beta release of Fatxplorer 3.0 so things might have changed You can go up to 2tb externally and maybe more with little difference to internal speeds as the SSD is strangled by the 360’s slower data throughput RGH is a pain to do but welll worth it imo I’ll keep looking and maybe do a video if I can get it to work 👍

@@tekzilla1354 you only have two options 1. Buy a Microsoft 500gb hdd or 2. Make your own as I know it at the moment but I am looking into it to see if anything has changed Or use external usb drive, the problem is the encrypted security sector as Microsoft never released a drive over 500gb no sector information is available to put on a bigger drive, It was Microsoft’s way of making you buy there drives so in theory you can use a 500gb drive with non RGH but you have to be carful what drive you use as the Xbox might not accept it Western digital drives were used by Microsoft so I would use one of them as the security sectors will match better but no guarantees But a lot of people asking this that’s why I’m doing some more research so I’ll keep you posted 👍

If you can run a custom dashboard with it then yes they all allow custom code to be run jtag is soldering and a custom dashboard while RGH is reprogramming the NAND so both end up doing the same RGH is more modern

No you can go higher up to 48TB with RGH and a XL patch

RGH = Reset Glitch Hack so it sounds ok if your running dadhlaunch and it boot nice and quick you should be ok As for the freezing and crashing have you ran a normal game from disc does that run stable as a standard Xbox ? If it does then it’s the fact your messing with the games files and just trial and error to get that to work If the disc based games crash and freeze then you might have a hardware issue like the hard drive Let me know on the above 👍

"Glitch" in DashLaunch is correct for RGH 3, so no worries there. You may have a poorly done install if the console is crashing though

SSD will not work on a none modded box yet SSD’s are overkill due to bandwidth limitations in the Xbox but that’s all you can really get that’s reliable cheap You can get a 500gb retail drive as Microsoft sold that and pop that in
