Yeah, but come on, Ray - while I don’t necessarily argue the opportunity to continue bringing games to more platforms (I mean, c’mon - Windows is also a Microsoft platform), there should be SOMETHING to draw people to the box, because otherwise, what is the point of having the box to begin with? Which in turn becomes, why would publishers like Square-Enix bring games to Xbox if no one has one? There should be something to draw people to the box, because ultimately, there’s a significant number of people that want a no fuss gaming experience (yes, gaming on PC is still not trivial at times). Wanna save GamePass? How about getting some great core gaming experiences that are available on day one, and SUPPLEMENT those experiences with truly value added content that they can always charge extra for, without devolving into micro-transaction hell. Take a look at film, series and sports do you not have Amazon, Disney, Netflix, HBO Max, cable. There will always be reasons for company's to extort money from us for profit and that will always come from platform exclusivity be it console or subscription based online services. the DVD analogy is not so far fetch as you may think.. there are things called region locks... it can be the same movie but you can't play a DVD from china or japan and being able play it in a USA region dvd player, PC and some others can by pass this by having the regional ability but this is typically can be relatable

Phil Spencer said it best a while back ( which was his vision) we want gamers to play together which means cross play and other platforms as well. We are too small at times to see the vision all we do is focus on us, whether it ps5 fans or Xbox. . Now Xbox is starting the right trend which is not to be exclusive. I think in the long run Xbox will be victorious in a lot of area that Sony won’t be .

I think MS doesnt care if they sell a game on PS or Xbox. So Multi-Plattform is a good thing for me. For developers its much more: Bringing a game to Windows/Xbox/DirectX or Playstation/Steamdeck/Switch. But i think Windows and Xbox have more in common than Switch, Playstation and Steamdeck. And all devs. musst do that work without optimizing for one of these platforms....For small studios means that, they have to decide which path they are going.

The Series S was my first Xbox console and I'm pretty sure my next "console" will be an APU in a small form factor PC case, loaded up with Steam OS or Chimera OS, or possibly a gamer's variant of Windows if Microsoft smartens up and makes a proper competitor to Steam OS. And yes, my disappointment with Xbox is a big part of the reason I'll be making this switch. But make no mistake, I'm disappointed with Sony and Nintendo as well, although for different reasons.

Darksiders series all dlc. Subnautica games. Mass effect. Space engineers. Sekiro ( it was on gamepass briefly so I bought it cause I wanted to finish) a lot of assassins creeds old and new ( if they were good I bought it) metro series. Moonlighter complete edition. Bastion ( the narrative one) and most recently evil west, immortals of avem, biomutant ( free play days ) witcher three so this idea that games are not being purchased is bullshit, I buy what I like if it was ever made in the first place is up to the developers and game creators 😅😅

Remember Microsoft created XBOX to compete against Sony PS2. At the time, XBoX was responsible for two depts. Hardware (consoles) and Creating Games,(software) HARDWARE (HD, speed, storage & power) development has, for some reason, paralyzed XBOX, leaving them behind by not fulfilling major upgrades to their consoles on a timely maner which lost their competitive edge, in turn lost the consumers market. Now, Microsoft is a testosterone free zone, with a gaming dept with no direction other than to make money. There's No competition...no creativity...no groundbreaking technology. Can one imagine if XBOX was THE GO TO "plastic" hardware box to use in order to play the GREATEST games using a modified software & keep compatible hardware upgrades? They could have easily taken Sony, Nintendo, and any PC. It's sad to see Microsoft neuter XBOX, who was once at the top of the console & gaming revolution with a dedicated community, who supported it for over 20 years. XBOX has now been demoted and reassigned to portables, creating regurgitated generic games and selling them in a digital store with "gamepass," which are then saved in Microsoft Cloud. Yeah, Nintendo has it worked out, but their games are great but they’re not really high graphic games and I think that’s how they have figured it out. They keep their hardware costs slow. So they don’t have the latest or top processor a normal console would have it. Nintendo games are cartoony at best and don’t have any of the realism and cinematography that Xbox and Sony have that’s how they’re doing it.

I’m waiting for the news that Starfield is coming to PS five I want to play it PS five because the graphics are better on PS five versus the graphics on the Xbox series S and it would be a lot cheaper for me to be able to buy it on PS five versus me go out and buy a Xbox series X the only reason I’m playing on Xbox right now is because they have the looking for group featureand I really like that. My take is this if Microsoft games goes multi platform like Sega, then I’m can’t see why I want game pass I have had a PS5 and Xbox seriously an X-box and I only played Ori and recore and control. There's a reason why Nintendo and Sony don't put their games on other platforms at least not day and date (Sony on games on PC) . It would devalue their console, their primary platform to sell their games. Yes, games such as Helldivers 2 launched simultaneous on PC and PS5 but Sony already addressed most live service games would go on PC day one. Of course, there may come a time when they will drop all their games on PC day one but right now all their single players games take roughly 1-3 years to release on PC. Microsoft is fine with their games on other platforms because unfortunately, for Xbox they only care about maximizing their brand and game exposure to everyone. Sure, great for consumers ,but your actual fanbase no longer have a reason to purchase your devices if your games are everywhere. Nintendo would make so much more money if they made their games multiplat but in doing so would also kill their own consoles. And maybe that's what Microsoft is going for? They don't need to innovate more so just want to their hands in every major console and video game developed. Also, regarding Square Enix finances they have published more games on Nintendo exclusively then they have more Sony. Plus, a big reason their financials were down were because of cancelled projects and underperforming MMO revenue.

Whoah! Maybe you have been thinking about Xbox wrong and their decisions Ray, but don't get me mixed up in your story. I've never had a doubt with anything they have been doing.

An extra point about it is that they don`t need to ever shut down their console operation if they go multiplatform. They don't need to shut down Surface, so they don't need to shut down Xbox. It's just part of an "optmized experience", if you will, to play Microsoft games and third party games released on the platform, which abides to the technology embarked with them (play anywhere, console remote access, etc.). PC is ever becoming the dominant platform and, well, Microsoft owns Windows. If they turn Xbox into a windows box (which has been some years in the making) and allow you to play all your pc or xbox games on either platform, THAT is a pretty good proposition, in my view. It really won't matter if you play Microsoft games on Xbox, Windows or PS5, but the case for buying the MS hardware will still be there.

Truth be told...I mainly play games on Game Pass. I occasionally buy a big budget game (that's not on game pass) when it's goes under $20 bucks.

The two new studios should be announced pretty soon. I was told by some people that the studio is going to be called. ELSEWHERE ENTERTAINMENT The other studio is nameless or something like that I don’t really know for sure, but those are the two studios one of them is supposed to be ran by Activision and some of the team of tango game works and the other one is going to be ran by some of the people that made the dishonored games, but I don’t know when they’re both going to be announced, but that’s their plan so Xbox is shutting down for studios and making two bigger studios with bigger teams and bigger budgets to make way more games and some of the games that got canceled are going to be being made over there instead

you don't seem to understand video games. They are much more complicated than a movie. They are essentially computer programs and computer hardware and the code it uses can vary wildly across systems and with the amount of dynamic media in video games and the speed at which this media must be rendered in real time as you press buttons or move the analog inputs on a controller or with a keyboard and mouse, not just any hardware will be able to run it. And porting software like a video game from one platform to another isn't an easy process. Besides, consoles are much easier to use than a PC for gaming. PC's are clunky systems that have to be constantly tweaked and adjusted and have to have much more powerful hardware for the same performance of a video game than a console needs because the components of a PC are from different manufactures and not at all maed to be in sync with each other. But getting back to your example of movies, you can't play blu rays on DVD players and vice versa. there were even different types of DVDs, plus and minus and RAM, that wouldn't work on players or drives made for the other types, not to mention region locked DVDs, and now with streaming services, you have to sign up for the service that has the content you want to watch. so, that was a poor analogy. while many video games where exclusive to a particular console/platform to get people to buy the console, because businesses, some games at the time relied on something unique to that hardware. speaking of which, developing games for consoles was much easier than for PC because there's only a few consoles and their hardware and software is predictable and made just for video games. PC's, on the other hand, could literally be anything. Even if you have a PC, even if it was sold as a "gaming PC", even if it can play some PC games, there's no guarantee that every PC video game will run on it. with any given consoles, any game sold for that particular console will run on it, barring a few software bugs, which get fixed right away. PC game devs are more likely to ignore you, blaming your problems on your PC.
