I think the extra price point might be going to things such as hair because the hair looks so much more thickly rooted. Also the swimsuit are extremely high quality with the physical details. The sunglasses are great and MGA is introducing new face molds. We also can’t ignore that we as consumers are paying for the name now. Rainbow high is getting more recognizable. I’ll gladly pay more as long as the hair is rooted right and the clothes are good quality. I just wish they’d space out their releases cause my wallet needs a break lol 😭😭

The extra pair of legs is the best solution for me as a collector cause I really don't like articulated foot (thanks for the list of problems it causes, that's what I keep thinking when I see people ask for it!), but for it to be a marketable feature, each doll should have come with both options of shoes! If not an entire second outfit at least the extra shoes so parents and kids see the reason for it. Imagine a kid who only has one doll with extra pair of legs... different shoes would at least give them some use

When you think about it Bratz don’t really have articulated ankles. And yes (just looking a a stranger pov and not knowing a thing about bratz) that is kinda weird for a fool but for bratz it works bc it makes them unique. So that’s how i look at this new feature as well. I see no problem with the new legs. Gives more options no matter what tbh. In every aspect. Gives the dolls itself unique too which is cool to have something new /different

Yup, the winter break dolls were $35. I’m hoping to pick up a few of the pacific coast dolls, but I don’t love that they’re priced identically to the winter break dolls. I love that they included the high heel feet so that I can use the other shoes in my collection! And I fully agree that ankle articulation combined with many of the rainbow high shoes would be a recipe for breakage! Ankle joints on dolls are notoriously weak and I’ve broken several on other lines of dolls in spite of being super careful and cautious.

I actually thought her feet must have melted inside because they were not coming off no matter what I did. Thankfully they did give eventually, but whew I was actually worried there for a second. I'm happy to see that at least from this they look really good up close! But I agree I don't really see the reason for the price increase? imo its a really strong line as a whole, but it is still weird. I love articulated ankles! But considering how tight of a fit the Rainbow High shoes are, you can guarantee that there would be a problem with the feet breaking off. Jett was made with the intention of being a collectible and not a doll you change outfits on very often, if at all, so it made a little more sense for her to have them.

I had heard a rumour that the staff of the factories where the dolls are made are demanding better working conditions and payment. So this could be contributing to the price increase. However your complaint about how much you have to pay is nothing compared to others in other countries where we have to pay even more.

I love your videos reviewing dolls so much. I don’t really “collect” dolls, but I do like to get them if I really connect with them (so far only Stella and Sheryl haha, I’m very picky), and the time you take to show off everything about the doll and talk in depth about possible variants and details is so helpful. Specifically with Sheryl, I really loved her but I wasn’t so sure about her make up, but when watching your videos you mentioned that she has variants with lighter eye brows and tamer lip liner, so went to my local toy store and sorted through the options they had and right at the back there was a variant with lighter eyebrows and less lipliner. I instantly connected with her so much more than the usual make up, and I never would’ve even known about the variant without your videos 💛💛💛 I’m looking forward to your videos about this series and seeing the dolls in detail, I’m hoping I like one because it’s always a treat when I get a new doll.

I look for dolls once a week and I have only once ever seen a child getting a Rainbow High doll. Most people I see getting RH dolls are young adults and old people, so I imagine they are getting a LOT from doll collectors, at least in my country. Most kids in NZ like LOL or Cave club and parents tend to buy barbie lmao

I stocked Phaedra and Hali yesterday, came back to work today and they were all gone but the rest of the RH dolls were still there 😂😭 thankfully I bought mine the same day I stocked them I guess

I genuinely think MGA was taking a reduced profit margin for the first year to get Rainbow High's foot in the door of the doll world, and that these dolls were never meant to be $28 to begin with. That's the usual opinion of "WOW! $28 is a total steal for this" because it totally was and they know that. I do think Pacific Coast was a very awkward line to start the price jump but I do believe that this is around where the dolls were originally supposed to retail. :)

The pricing is also really confusing for me. While I respect that they come with a bunch of stuff and are supes high quality, I think consumers and the general doll buying market (not collectors) are used to beach dolls being more affordable, usually budget prices. I think $35 for a swimsuit doll is going to be huge sticker shock there. So I do think that mayy affect how well these dolls sell, especially if your hypothesis about higher clearance rates through the first quarters of the year proves true (why would you pay $35 for a lesser doll if there's a $25-$10 doll that comes with more?). Higher prices seems to be an across the board thing this past year. I've heard in passing from a few designers that factory wages are going up and workers are actually earning a fairer living which is fantastic. But obviously supply chain is the big one affecting the cost recently. 100% agree on MGA having lower profit margins. They can get away with that more being a privately held company. Your Hasbros, Mattels etc have shareholders to answer to haha. Actually it's funny, even Garret Sander literally said on the In The Doll World podcast that he literally has no idea how MGA makes the dolls they do for the prices they sell at.

i think the price increase is purely because of the current state of the pandemic. with omicron infecting so many people, fully vaccinated, boosted, and unvaccinated, it's a lot harder to make much of anything. less people making the product means less product is being made, meaning less profit for the company. to compensate for that, higher prices come into play. i truly think that if it weren't for the current state of the pandemic, these dolls would be like in between regular series dolls and cheer for price, like $25 instead of the $32 they are now

You make me feel more normal, about my Rainbow High obsession 🤣 I've been doll obsessed, since I was a kid and people would say I'd grow out of it haha never happened 😁 The Pacific Coast collection is cute but disappointing... Everything feels "less"about them. $25 would have been a decent price to me, not over $30.

The legs&feet costs more to produce and swimsuits for some reason I don't know! Plus if they didn't produce so many different line's so close to each other the end price I believe it would be much better for every one (company & consumers) but still the doll is stunning! ❤️

Yeeeah all the made to move Barbies in my house wear boots because the ankle joints are so weak, I squealed happily at Hali having the interchangeable leg pieces. That said, THANK YOU BROOKE. All the "She's just Skyler/Marissa/Kia with a different face mold" comments about Hali, Harper and Carmen irritate me - they're not even close. Just...Harper's hair is literally platinum blonde and Marisa is actual golden blonde???? How is that the same??? I don't get it and it seems weird to me that it's that big a deal that two dolls may have a kinda similar color scheme? Like? I dunno, if you don't like the doll then don't buy it but...??

It nice seeing a review from a working adults. $200 is a lot if you got bills and a life. I don’t mind the leg.I don’t see why everyone thinking removing the leg gonna reduce the price by $10, it won’t. Now on to the doll, Hali is so beautiful. To be fair he’s first promo she did look like Skyler but she look So different in person. I never realize how different a doll can look in real life this I saw Hali. I think she so much prettier then Skyler. Her color suppose to be aquamarine and than you god for blue green eye and not lair blue again.

Honestly the only extra budget I can see being necessary for this line is their legs. They had do create the flat foot mold and redo the knee articulation so it would allow the leg to be removed, but that's it. The glasses are beautiful and detailed but we can compare them to the extra shoes they don't come with. Depending on the character, each doll has 4 to 7 pieces of sewn fabric (including clothing, head accessories, bags and towels), similar to most core series dolls... I really don't see the reason for the price change on the dolls, so it must be something about their production. It must be small things we don't see, but it's a pretty big jump from 27,99 to 31,99.

omg you're so right about people only ever comparing dolls with darker skin! you could also say that poppy and simone look like the same doll pecause they're both orange with pink highlights in their hair. their skin tone is as different as marissa's is to harper's, but because poppy is so white noone would ever compare her with simone 🤷

I love Rainbow High, but they can be very difficult to afford if you don’t have a job or a steady income of some kind. Thankfully I am very picky with my collection and am only completely sold on certain Rainbow High dolls, so I don’t really feel like I am missing out. So far I own the signature dolls for Emi, Ruby, Poppy, Krystal, Bella, and Sheryl, and I hope to get Gabriella or Simone from the Pacific Coast line next. But the point is that I skip on the majority of Rainbow High dolls and only get them if I am completely sold on the clothing or the color scheme. And the chance of subtle defects makes buying these dolls feel like a gamble as well, because with ordering them online you either get lucky and get sent a perfect doll or you get one with some weird defects you didn’t notice when first looking at them.

As a parent I usually get 2 or 3 dolls per line. So you are right. So far she has the most on series 1. She has 1 rocker doll, but she wants more. I can't get them for her all the time, but I like to get them for her. Next doll I get her may be the Joan Jett or another rocker or a beach one.

Hali look gorgeous, her make up reminds of MyScene. I’ve been especially loving the y2k restyles of her. But I do think that it’s important that we discuss the price: Even if they were the same price as series 3 - I would question it, because there is just not as much of stuff, but they are higher then that ??? Inflation is understandable and all, but, guys it’s not that rapid. You can see it on the the Series releases - it went from from 26,99 to 27,99 Just one dollar(not to say that series 3 came with quite a bit more accessories)

I couldn’t not help but see the lol surprise tweens I saw them at Walgreens the other day now I’m obsessed with them. While I am an amateur collector, to me WB was with worth the price, and I’m not gonna lie I don’t remember how much my Hali was BUT I think in between the standard Series doll’s (Ruby, Bella, Emi for example) price and the WB price would probably be the best price in my opinion. I don’t have too much experience collecting mostly because I only started collecting when RH came out and outside of them I only have OMG and BTW dolls. I would’ve back in the day with MH god only knows.

Hey I really want your opinion maybe you can reply or make a video on it for more depth to your response but how do you feel about every theme release (cheer,winter break, etc) being only the first main six girls personally I don’t like it bc we have like three different versions of the first six two of Bella and one of everyone else when I went to look for a poppy doll I had multiple options but what it If don’t like how series 3 Georgia looks (which I do but I just don’t vibe with her) if they included her into a theme release I could choose from two different versions (and maybe I vibe with the second doll and I have a Georgia) I think how they should handle theme packs is each pack is tied to each series so cheer+series one, winter break+series 2, new theme+series 3 I think it would be a good way to have other dolls have more versions and maybe even get more sales but still do these themed releases

Maybe the reason they only came with one look is bc their not main RH characters just spin off minor characters like the supposed shadow high and the novelty and extra legs drove up the price if we won't see them in another line everybody is also asking why RH is still on everything but maybe it's just to not deviate from the brand since the spinnoffs are part of the branding. I think the flat feet make sense tho for beach dolls though :)

They are expensive. I only plan to buy two of Pacific Coast. Though I do understand the price point, the pandemic, shipping costs, making sure the quality is up to standard and the economy are probably factors. Things go up. Food, clothes, medicine. Everything goes up, toys and dolls included. It's hard and unfortunate. But it is bound to happen.

It’s really Inflation it’s hitting everything. All the little details are adding up quick. Between the cardboard for the packaging to textiles. A good comparison is groceries. Not everything is available anyone or something’s have doubled in price. I’ve been waiting for sales . Also as a older collector you realize you don’t need everyone. So, it makes me more selective. When people say they look the same . I get it . They more or less have the same face at a glance . (The reason why I don’t like LOL’s ). Monster high spoiled me with faces. Only a few of the RH look different to me . The Mint, Purple S3, Sleep over , the Rockers. Maybe the twins but then it’s two of the same .. Like the pearl girl is “ sailor moon Amya”,And I’m like … yeah… more or less lol.

the towel is a mix of Versace (the pattern) and Chanel (the center logo). The mix of different brands kinda annoys me and from a fashion standpoint it is a bit tacky but thankfully they are high quality so it doesn’t looks cheap and “fake”. The price increase is worrying but I don’t think that it’ll be permanent. She’s a beautiful doll and I don’t think she looks like skyler

I find it funny that they chose to put “RH” on the embellishments of the swim shorts considering this character doesn’t actually attend Rainbow High. The only reason they are doing this would be for the doll line branding, not necessarily the character details, which personally I wish they were more character and story line specific.

Is it possible creating a while new body mold (leg piece) was where the cost is coming from? They would have to have created, and made a whole new mold/machine piece to make them that could have cost a lot.

Minor detail, but if these dolls all go to a different school, kind of weird that all their stuff is decked out with “Rainbow High” which is, in theory, a rival school.

Hali is the only one I have so far from this line but she is absolutely so beautiful but I agree the price is questionable on these I feel like the regular series dolls like 1 2 and 3 give you way more then the pacific coast dolls so I’m not really sure in my opinion I say if anything those should be this price whereas these should be the original price of the regular series dolls

Maybe they could've done flexible feet (not like a joint, maybe moldable plastic like Barbie dolls use to have) instead of making extra legs, that money could've been an extra outfit??
