I can't help but wonder what the other heroes such as Hercules, Iolaus, and even Morrigan of Ireland were up to while Xena and Gabrielle were out for 25 years, unable to stop Livia's reign of terror. Obviously the former set of heroes weren't going to be around after the big sendoff Hercules got in the episode "God Fearing Child", but their characters still existed even off screen, and a simple explanation for why they weren't around to stop such a tyrannical villain in Livia under Ares' control, would've made sense.
