I mean, tomestone BiS is decided by player, making tomestone deliberately with worse substats would make it way worse for class like BLM or healers who can make really good use of the differents stats, it would be annoying af to have only the raid gear getting Crit/DH subroll or thing like that

@@luxadia7310 The devs proudly say that they play their own game, so they are players too. Saying the players decide BIS absolves the devs of any misgivings when the devs are literally the people choosing what gear has what stats. It's literally a choice between two pieces for one slot after all. Two pieces. They know which pieces we'll want to use, and at it's worse we, the players would want both pieces for options depending on fight. My and most other people's issue with the current system isn't 'where' we get the stats we want, or even necessarily that tomestones shouldn't be BIS. The only reason we're complaining this tier is simply how long it takes to get the best version of said stats. It shouldn't take 7 weeks to get my last twine upgrade because I'm last in line as a healer, while we watch raid boots, gloves, pants and accessories free rolled on alt jobs for weeks. Even if I was in a different group and got my upgrades early, someone would probably have to wait 7 weeks to get their last upgrade with our weekly lockouts and gear desires. So, I'm not necessarily advocating for tomestone gear to be worse, nor for raid gear to be better. I'm advocating to not make a single weekly raid drop, twine in particular, so scarce and high in demand across 8 people. Twines and coatings should not have the drop weekly frequency as chest coffers when most raiders want at least two or three. Again, it's only particularly rough this tier because of tomestone gear stats are great for a lot of roles, and it is something the devs should be fully aware of.

It gets easier once the catchup patch (x.1) comes out where you can spend alliance raid tokens to upgrade the weekly tomestone gear.

It also gets even easier when they decide to get rid of the weekly savage lockout before the next tier. If the best argument is to wait months til patches speed up the progression, it’s not a good system. It’s basically saying we’re wasting our time now.

instant trash talk for nothing, ff14 litteraly took every wow concept, but casualised it to the extreme, go back take G pose and do nothing cause your end game content is cleared in one week, even for casuals players

@@kurhooni5924 its cleared in a week because its clearable. Like its actually tested and clearable. Not to mention, WoW has been continually making their RWF take longer every time because they want to milk those viewer numbers. Also, only ARR is based off WoW originally, they very quickly moved over to their own stuff around HW-SB. Not to mention nothing WoW does is original to them. Not to mention this video came out during Shadowlands, the largest bleeding period in WoW besides maybe Cata having to follow Wrath. Honestly, it's not even trash talk as much as objective facts considering the game did not respect your time whatsoever.

Yeah but that's also not a mentality that should be pushed on people who have 0 interest in savages, ultimates, etc. At the end of the day a clear is a clear after all

I'm with you on this but at the same time, assuming you never get upgrade directly and only buy with book, you are done with full memoquartz 4 weeks before you are even done with p1s/p4s book

That gives an a pretty large advantage to raiders and savage statics over casuals though which is against FF14s idea for the game. You can see this in the fact that crafted gear is so cracked

@@thrillainthemanilla1409 I don't see that as a problem, those raiders are putting in the effort and time to clear those raids, why shouldn't they be rewarded for that? I understand 14 is more of a casual focused game, but if you don't put the time or effort in, you aren't going to get as many rewards as fast.

@@luxadia7310 I get what you mean, but I don't see that as a problem. If you are done with Tomes in a month on your main, then that frees you up to focus on getting gear for any alt jobs you might want to gear up. One thing I don't understand with the game is that, it allows you to play alt jobs easily and even encourages it, yet in savage, it hard locks you from getting gear for those alt jobs unless its of the same armor type your main is at.

@@shadowdragon8168 I don’t see it as a problem either. I’m just stating ff14s apparent design philosophy. Besides raiders are already awarded for raiding with mounts,materials,armors,titles, etc so I can see how giving them even further rewards would be unnecessary in the eyes of SE. When you think about it they really only have something to lose by giving raider the ability to get infinite tomestones weekly because the only thing that would happen is casuals getting angry, casuals being a much bigger part of the community than raiders are

I would even take trading a raid piece for a token and trade 2 tokens for an upgraded tome piece

DoT uptime, keeping the GCD rolling, good movement planning, and good cooldown management are big factors in getting good DPS parses with healers.

Over here healer DPS is tied to how well your party is doing. If they need more heals than the fight cadence actually calls for you are losing GCDs that could have been damage to heals. Later in the tier there are people running literal sack runs for people parsing. Where the other healer runs max piety and just solo heals while the other healer goes for their parse.

Yeah this tier is brutal.

as someone coming in from mythic wow, and nightmare swtor raids. ff14 is easy for me right now, since im still doing the msq and i know how mmos work for tanking lol. cant wait to get to p12s and such

As an outsider to WoW the amount of prep and cost of prep seems ridiculous to enjoy content you want to enjoy and that feels like the fundamental problem.

That just sounds like a purposeful design decision. Once you're done you now have new stuff to do.

@@vaan_ I was paying to play WOW as well, and Chloe's right: compared to other MMOs, FFXIV is downright generous with its drops. Like the token system is unbelievably flexible, and then you get the tomes on top of that as actual bad luck protection. People complain that they don't get drops for EVERY class they want to play, and all I'm thinking is "Dude, we didn't enough drops for ONE class." I remember Xenos was complaining that it would take him seven weeks to collect enough weapon tokens for his BIS, but during that time he would also be collecting enough tokens for the BIS for the rest of his gear. In WOW, the loot is randomized in a pool, so you'd best pray that your BIS weapon drop came from one of the easy bosses and that you'd roll well against anyone else who used your weapon. Oh, and there was no unique status to loot: if a person has something like The Sword of a Thousand Truths and thought they'd like to have another, there was nothing stopping them from getting two...or three, or four because you know, gem sockets and enchants and optimization, and all that crap. And my personal favorite? When loot drops that nobody in the group can use AGAIN; it's a wonderful way to piss your time away, lemme tell ya. FFXIV's loot system ain't perfect, but honestly, when you see what that system evolved from, it's not that bad.

Except game design has specifically made the first two floors a comparable transition from EX. They have done it right. Just because they aren't good doesn't mean the content is not designed with newer raiders in mind.
