@@Scallion_D it’s funny, in another comment someone thought Steve was only joking about his disdain for Lord of the Rings because he had seen them all in theatre but it’s the same for me. I saw the trailer for the first one and I thought, okay, looks like an amazing spectacle, I’m going to see it. Get there, watching it, and thinking, what is with all these elves and fairy creatures talking politics about events and other fairy characters I could not possibly care less about? The worst. Then time goes by and the trailer for part 2 comes out and it’s filled with cool special effects and you fall for the same trick again and you’re back in the theatre listening to a 2 hour hearing of the UN fairy council droning on about nonsense, interrupted by some special effects that seemed better in the trailers. Repeat once more for the third one. The Enya comparison is hilarious.

I do believe Steve genuinely dislikes Lord of the Rings, and that it isn't some act to impress Ricky. He's been whinging about it for years now, and evidentially with friends other than Ricky (his mate he mentions). To be honest I think the people in these comments are defensive cause they like it XD

I don't like Lotr movies particularly but surely they must understand how influential and genius Lotr is in the fantasy literature genre? It was such a compelling fantasy world that almost everything after it has taken from it and it still stands on its own. Think of how impressive of an artifact it is, an imaginary alternate world "real" enough to be meaningful to millions simulated in the brain of a single man and explained to others originally only through writing. The point of the books isn't only the story/action but the lifelike world that is groundbreaking in literary terms.

They interrupt him twice during that sentence and he never gets the chance to finish it. We’ll never know what Suzanne said. It’s so annoying 😂

Love that theres a very public dispute over whether the fact Steve Merchant actually likes Lord of the Rings. He's obviously targetting your kind and winding you up deliberately. People love to think Steve Merchant justs sucks up to Gervais when in actual fact he is probably more responsible for his success than Gervais himself. Got too much time on your hands.
