Thank you for the update. I've watched this video many times, and I didn't suspect anything when I saw how much cooler the Merc was. So that means the noise-normalised Merc GPU Die temp is actually 63 degrees, so 4 degrees cooler than the AMD Reference, which is still pretty great. What I find more interesting is how good the AMD Reference is in terms of noise-normalised GPU die temp; it's matched by the Nitro+, bettered by 1 degree by the Red Devil, and bettered by 4 degrees by the Merc; that's a really tight grouping that we don't normally see when comparing AIB cards with the reference design.

The Quick, which is the same cooler just the fan shroud is plastic (which doesn't matter) is even more neat, no side plate with the RGB just pure uncovered heatsink.

@@sabrevanson4412 I quite like the aesthetics of my ASUS ROG Strix 6800 XT. It only says "Radeon" in small lettering in the middle and has a black metallic backplate. Mounted vertically it looks like a futuristic blower style gpu where there's ROG and Strix branding but it's very stealth looking. Like those low profile black police cars. The RGB looks awesome and like I said you can't make out the branding much or whether it is a Radeon or GeForce gpu in a vertical setup. I quite like it. It's very different from what's out there.

It is good though. Non essential little aesthetic bits are plastic, while large surface area cover is metallic to radiate heat, instead of plastic trapping it. Costs lowered while design is functional. Nitro plus from what I remember is all plastic, except the backplate.

Not a bid deal, end of the day, a well made card that delivers on quality, cooling performance and quietness...chill kid. focusing on the wrong things..

I agree. The 5000 series looked quite ugly/cheap and performed badly as far as I remember. Maybe XFX can be seen as quality AIB in the future.

@@aloahe4807 I got an ROG Strix 6800 XT on Monday. MC had only one. I couldn't believe it. Felt like I'd won the lottery when in fact I was given a chance to spend my money to buy a product, which I love but that's how dire things currently are with new GPU/CPU's.

Have you had any noise issues? I got mine off amazon for 569 as well and I just sent it back bc it made ridiculous noise that could be heard through noise cancelling head phones. Idk it it was bc it was the Core edition instead of the black or not. Looking into a new card now. Not sure where to go.

It says it's 34cm can you confirm that? Because most of the time the sizes aren't 100% right. If it's that size it won't fit my case unfortunately and I can't find another 6800 XT in that price range

Its funny, but he didn't. So we had a review with the graphics settings dumbed down in favor of AMD. That's exactly what Nvidia said, in a really piss poor manner and he's done it again here. Anyone looking to game in 4K wants RT on so we want results with the max settings applied not cherry picked results with some stuff on and some stuff off.

@Rahq Vuth I don't like to not have something. If you can pick one of 2 cards and they are 3 percent apart in frames, but one has RT and DLSS and the other doesn't which one should you buy? It has to be part of the reviews or at least mentioned in every review. I have a 2070 super right now and am using both DLSS and RT in 2077. I'm about to upgrade into my next gen card. Do I want to lose RT and DLSS? I'm already using it in several tittles.

It includes benchmarks from **one** game because the **only** point of this review is to see how this particular 6800xt AIB card compares to other 6800xt cards. Anyone using this review to compare a 6800xt to any card other than another 6800xt is doing it wrong.

@@rhysiamt agreed, but he included the performance numbers for the 3080 and 3090 in the comparison charts. The game uses RT, but he turned it off. AMD wins. Turn RT on and its a complete beat down for Nvidia. That was the point Nvidia was making, its not a fair comparison if you don't use the best game settings possible and those have to include RT any time its available. You could do a with and without chart, but you have to include it. Otherwise your really not telling the whole story.

​@@l8knight845 First, if Steve turned RT on for the 3080 it would reduce performance (by a lot!), making the 3080 look worse by comparison. How would that be "fair"? Second, you're putting Steve and other reviewers in an impossible situation - they literally can't win. If he leaves any Nvidia comparison point out altogether then you can bet, 100%, that there will be a bunch of people in the comments going, "why don't you just include a 3080 & 3090 as a point of reference - you have the data already so it's no extra work". Then he includes it and you have other people saying, "Nvidia does better Raytracing, unfair comparison". You want the "whole story" - and I agree in principle that reviewers should provide the whole story. The thing is though, in the case of Nvidia having RT, DLSS, NVENC, etc, while AMD provide more VRAM, it's a complicated story which can't even remotely be covered in a single benchmark from a single game. That sort of analysis requires many benchmarks and a detailed and nuanced discussion... which is exactly what Steve & Tim have done in the 6800xt review, and follow up dedicated RT & DLSS content! This review is for people already interested in a 6800xt to help them decide which AIB model is the best for them. They should already understand the benefits and limitations of the product. As I said above, if you use this review to compare 3080 & 6800xt you are doing it wrong!

@@flossyhd9450 Give it a month or so for supply to catch up with demand. AMD has said that they've increased production significantly as a result of Nvidia not supplying the market. But those extra cards take time to make and time to ship. Give it a month, and I suspect there will be large shipments coming in.
