XG dont have 4 rappers and 3 singers. They have 7 rappers and 7 singers they all aces. They all can sing and rap and dance exponentially. Simon Jakops who happens to be an American born Korean went to other OG's for approval for this fantastic GG. XG is built different. They make nothing but bangers.

I highly recommend watching the associated dance practice videos. Simon (JAKOPS) Sakai is their manager/producer/CEO of XGALX (a subsidiary to the major Japanese label AVEX). XG is his creation. Being half Korean/half Japanese he want to bridge the 2 cultures and also create a global group enjoyed by the whole world. That's why they sing all their original songs in English. He used to be a K-Pop idol in the 2000's. He knows the industry and is an important mentor to the girls. Chancellor is well known producer and songwriter. He is a good friend of Simon.

Originally, they only dropped a dance performance. I think it was because it did so well with the fans that they decided to make it an MV. For awhile now, the two picks for best song was Shooting Star and Left Right. I'm with you in the Shooting Star camp! FYI, the First Take version of WWOY is excellent. Check their extra contents where they pay most of their homages to the OG western artists. They have XG Move where they show many different dance styles including hip-hop. They have XG Tapes which are their own mixtapes. They also cover songs in their XG Vox videos such as No Scrubs by TLC. Fun fact, one of their rappers, Cocona said, during an interview, that it was Lauryn Hill that got her interested in becoming a rapper. She started learning how to rap at the age of 3 and her parents have been supporting her since then.

Nice reaction again and suggest you check out their docu series Xtra Xrra so you can get a full appreciation of their rigorous audition and training period and get a sense for each member’s uniqueness and talents. As far as inspiration, keep in mind they are Japanese and English is their second or third language so the fact that they rap and sing so clearly in English belies the hard work and practice they put in. Their influences for fashion are rooted in Japanese Harajuku and Shibuya styles as well as Weatern R&B and hip hop but if you watch some of their variety show appearances, the girls have vast music history knowledge. Also anime such as Akira and “Mech” anime and Miyazawa style is part of their influences. And Simon and team are geniuses and oh yes they work with the best choreographers such as Selina Lalau and Kyle Tutin

Then you can appreciate that they not only sing and rap, they dance like a dance crew close to the level of famous groups like Jabawockiez other all dance only crews. Then if you watch “Shooting Star” versions on the Japanese channel “First Take” where it is done in 1 take, live studio mics, seated, and hear the harmonies and interplay and tonal qualities, or on the Korean channel “It’s Live” with a live band, you can see their singing talent. And if you watch their Tape series, which are all covers of older raps, with new lyrics by them, tapes 1 - 4, you’ll know who well they rap. No Equal in all of these combined in 1 group.

I really enjoy your reactions and have had fun watching you discover the girls. I'm one of those people that have a problem with pausing so it always seems a little excessive sometimes. I know you have to pause now and then for copywrite issues. Some people take it to an extreme (Not saying you) and destroy the entire flow and feel of the song. They miss a lot by doing that and it seems like you are not getting the full effect of the song and interrupting what they spent so much time and talent creating. I just don't get why they cannot wait util the end of the song for a full critique and evaluation. It is your page and I am not trying to tell you what to do, just sharing thoughts. anyhoo....This song is amazing and these girls are insane. So damn much talent at such a young age. West vs East has much different mentality to writing. Sure writing yourself good, but that is very western and self promoting thus limits you, but in Kpop it’s a huge team for writing, music, fashion, visuals … so that team effort multiplies the best so this is why you see such great music, music videos, choreography etc. one man show means it’s limited to just one man, why….

not deep in the rap culture. i'm a fan but had to look up why a rapper needs to writh their own lyrics. i can see if those "lyrics" portayed something presented as a very personal message with deep meaning "personally" that is implied it may feel disingenuos to "literally" claim or not give credit to a writer. XG is literally singing and rapping about being space aliens to spread good vibes so i don't really think we literally believe that in any way other than these gals are here to entertain and show their love of music. there is just so much on display with the whole Team of producers and various video and musical productions not to forget choreographers, fashion, set design. It's a big production and we are benefitting from a whole bunch of talents that are coming together to present XG to us.I think they remind us of music we used to like from the 90's 2000's to now and keep it fresh like only they do.
