I believe the song is about female idol groups who can't speak or act like themselves and feel like the music industries puppets! Also, that hole they jumped into was a leap of faith because the other person who i think was Simon when he was part of DMTN couldn't escape the industry like he wanted too and exploded, but under the leadership of Simon he allowed XG to jump into the music industry and they made it through. I believe when their running to the top of the podium it's a sign of their individually and independence. They took their bow like they definitely deserve. Also, i think the white symbolizes when their dancing on the podium that they're in control of their own destiny! XG worked endlessly for us Alphaz this year! Arigatou gozaimasu XG, SIMON, and ENTIRE CREW! Never thought a 4 min video could have so many interpretation and views on what the true meaning is, but that's legendary! Alphaz 🐺

This song can be for anyone who is dominated by those in power. They are just saying “ what if the role is different? Don’t you see this!?” Some people might get uncomfortable for being called out but at least they can change the dynamics with being an ally.

This song has its message of women empowerment, but paired with the MV we get something deeper. I believe this MV was a visual representation of XG breaking boundaries paired with the song it’s basically them saying we won’t be controlled by outside influences or conform to societal norms of the idol industry the industry’s standards will not control us. They will achieve their dreams and rise to the top how they want.

To me personaly song is not about men becoming puppets to women, I don't think this song is about boys. To me this is more about taking fate in to your own hands and stop being puppets, reversing situation. Not letting anyone holding you by strings. It could be refered to haters also that keep trying to control what the have to say without giving them a chance to speak as maya said in the begginning that she doesnt feel herd though she is speaking. Great video, just wanted to add from my exp; I've always had this androgynous look as ppl in K Pop, but in my case it was fuel for bullies when I was growing up. I embraced it, used it to my advantage in my acting / modeling career, I was almost the face of Leon in these new Resident Evil games 🙂 To anyone who's ever been a victim of hate / violence because of their appearance, gender, orientation, race : DO NOT ever let a hateful notion 'there's something wrong with me' sink in. Trust me, it's a recipe for self hatred and compulsive anxieties later on. When we suffer and we need a break, it's only natural to think: 'maybe if I wasn't 'different', if I was 'normal' I would be accepted. No, haters will always find something else to prey upon. They're extremely toxic who can see your potential and value but will drag you down with intent and hideus determination, when they notice a slightest sign of insecurity. Remember; There's never anything wrong with you.

I'm glad you mentioned that this is some pimp sh*t. If a song like 'Ain't No Fun' can exist and is actually one Snoop's biggest songs, than this song can certainly exist. The only difference is that Puppet Show is aspirational and Aint No Fun ia a harsh reality.

The sad thing is, I don't even think the song was meant to be a boy-hating anthem. I think it was meant to talk about not allowing ourselves to become puppets to the demands, expectations, ignorance, or projections of others; to instead be the ones pulling the strings for ourselves in order to create a better future collectively.
