Xi Jinping on Monday warned against smearing China over the Ukraine conflict, insisting that Beijing was playing a "positive role" trying to find a peaceful solution to Russia's invasion. "We oppose using the Ukraine crisis to cast blame, smear a third country and incite a new Cold War," Xi told reporters during a joint news conference alongside Emmanuel Macron. Mark Owen speaks to Philippe Le Corre, Senior Fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute's Center for China Analysis.

In 2023, Germany VW sold 48x as many cars in China as were sold in Germany's domestic market. In 2023, China bought more than 5x as many cars as the US, Canada and Mexico ... combined! How come VW was not accused of "overproduction" by China?

It is misleading to state that China is isolated, while the EU is desperately wanting to have good relationship with China. Please try to be honest to attract worldwide attendance! Please also try to become more knowable in world politics before delivering political news and statements publicly.

They want acess to chinese market to sell what? What do we produce that we are not already selling to them. What do we have they don't? I remember when I was a child somebody told me China is our hands but we are the brain. It did not make sense back then because she assumed that chinese people don't have a brain. It was one of my teacher. Our politics need to stop pointing the finger as China and Russia and Iran and Syria etc. It's europeans companies who went to China and exchanged techonologies for cheap workers. The West is 100% responsable for this situation ... the 1% became billionaires. They did not care about european workers who had to suffer. They wanted cheap labors. Now China has the right to suceed I see nothing wrong here.

Obviously, people like him is still very Euro/US centric, believing that outside of the global North, countries are inconsequential. Fair enough. Keep living in your dream. De-risking is but a slogan. You can easily proclaim that you want to be independent, but you do need means and measures to actually do it.

We know where the UK stands, UK is willing to Poke the Russian bear after receiving orders from the US. But France's position is confusing, strategic independence AND sending NATO troops to Ukraine. Derisking is the same as decoupling. Inviting China to invest in France would get the US mad, not to mention Ursula. German industry wants good relations with China, much of German government would like to follow the US and decouple.
