Single most important trick/tip I gathered from Xiaomi 13 Ultra review so far: Use Leica authentic when shooting in good light, but switch to Leica vibrant when in low light. This will get you the best picture / film.

Good overview! I would like to add that the iPhone does some pretty heavy sharpening/processing on all of it's photo's. Look around on the internet and you will see plenty of complaints about that. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Pro are much more natural. Once you know what excessive sharpening/processing looks like, you can't un-see it anymore. It's refreshing to see Xiaomi actually making a good decision here!

the image(s) @ 2:11 are brilliant - that's the reason why I love this new take by Xiaomi on processing so much. Feel like Vivo is a bit superior in lowlight though. Still see some sharpening defects on the Xiaomi in that case. If you want the standard smartphone over sharpened look, X6 Pro seems to be the goat right now (aka people who don't care about photogenic images and want to snapshot of whatever they're shooting)

I think for rear cam shootout the Xiaomi 13 Ultra won, for videos, they kind of neck and neck but for quality; the iPhone 14 Pro won. And selfies, i think the iPhone 14 Pro is more consistent as it has AF but the colours I like are, on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra (in Authentic Mode). I hope you'll compare the 1-inch sensors flagships: Xiaomi 13 Ultra vs Xiaomi 13 Pro (The most interesting one) vs Oppo Find X6 Pro vs Vivo X90 Pro Plus.

Xiaomi is definitely more point and shoot while iPhone is the typical smartphone look. Tbh only difference is the nights which is dark but clean on Xiaomi and bright but noisy for iPhone. Otherwise most of the time the differences between the two is pretty standard and if you don't pixel peep you probably won't notice the majority of the shots. I'd say both will grant you similar results regardless of which phone you choose.

6:04 - 6:31 Daniel, you accidentally wrote "Seflies" instead of "Selfies". Not a huge mistake, just wanted to point it out. Besides that, what an amazing video! Really shows how good the Xiaomi is. 1080p60fps on the front camera is not a deal-breaker for me, as I've probably never used selfie video.

1-2 years ago the iPhone's camera system was superior to most other phones out there, now the tables have turned. The S23 Ultra and also the Xiaomi 13 Ultra are both superior to the latest Apple has to offer. Ofcourse each phone has some negatives but if you take everything into consideration, then its clear that the two mentioned phones are currently the best on the market when it comes to camera setups. For the last 2 years there is a negative trend for the iphones, they are always way too (!) oversharpened and sometimes too flat. Especially the sharpening is a big issue! I remember when cheap china phones did that, but apple still does it heavily and you can immediately tell which one is the iPhone picture. But everything aside, people too often forget the Xperia 1 iV/Xperia Pro, while i said that the S23U and X13U are the best, i didnt take the Sony into consideration. Its obviously the phone from last year but if you want a real photography phone then you should pick the Sony, it also does beautifully smooth 4k/120 hz and no sharpening bs at all.

Incredible as it may seem, despite Xiaomi's amazing hardware, I found the iphone better overall, but of course in low light I believe these devices with large sensors will have an advantage over the iphone and s23u. And speaking of him, I have good news for you... I think that problem with the focus on the s23u when using the timer to fade the portrait photo has been solved... too bad the Samsung photos can't extract the same level of detail of competitors in portrait mode.

But you're totally wrong 4k selfie is not available on oppo find x6 pro the first phone on dxomark and it's even better than honor magic 5 pro Also vivo x90 pro + this year doesn't have 4k selfie camera. To me i'm not an enthusiast of selfie video while most social media apps doesn't even support 4k why should i think about it no matter resolution you upload on insta or facebook it will be uploaded as 1080 p. So i don't see any need of it it's not an excuse for these companies it's the opposite that's a shame but in same time it's not so necessary at all. But people are different in their needs and their priorities. To me i can see that xiaomi is working so hard with giant german of optics and camera not just a trade mark you put it on your phone for marketing and to impress prople to buy thr phone at all they're really trying so hard to benefit from their cooperation with leica im terms of lenses quality and leica color science i noticed that xiaomi since 12 s ultra are taking another way of smartphones photography they want to give us multiple options of colors look and also they want to focus on the pictures to be natural as far as they can go even if it looks dark and contains a lot of shadows that what gives the real vibr to the image it's not over processed or too bright or too dark they just try to give the picture and the moment what it deserves. Especially at night you can notice it since 12 s ultra xiaomi are running away from what the others do bright images like you're in afternoon not at night it's obvious that xiaomi wants to keep the vibe of darkness and night without any big sacrifices like less noise and more details and sharpness and i'm really surprised with the video quality they all say that iphone since many years agao is king of video but what i can see from last devices 13 pro and ultra made a big jump over IPhone in terms of quality sharpness natural colors and man what a stability we saw in this 13 ultra it's rock solid like a gimble or go pro camera it's amazing i hope xiaomi add action mode with 2k and i love the fact that that xiaomi can shoot 8k 25 fps through all lenses that's amazing. And i'm sure with few updates they'll fix those tiny details of face detection sometimes and they'll be prefect device in 2023 in camera department. Before i forget i'm really happy xiaomi heard the critics about the quality of portrait photos of xiaomi and they added and 3.2 x telephoto for portrait photos that's really great + 3.2 usb they added it's something really good for transferring data and receiving data with 13 ultra. Also imx 858 gave a lot of quality and details to the ultra wide pictures + zoom photos are amazing also the imx 858 made a big impact in terms of ultrawide videos and zoom in video with same colors and same details

I am not an influencer so food shots or night photography are moot for my use case. Therefore they are very close apart from zoom over 3X. The iPhone 15PM should fix that, so I would wait for that or the Pixel 8 Pro rather than the Xiaomi as I prefer iOS and will get 6 years of OS support compared to 3 years with Xiaomi. Not a MiUI fan either, prefer MagicOS and ColorOS.
