I had a problem installing front solid tire but the problem wasn’t me but tire itself. ( for second take i used different tire ...I recommend Lixada 8.5 front/rear scooter tire - that one was soooo easy to put on over front hub - just 3 min ( 1m at a time in microwave) and then straight on to hub - les then 20 sec later tire was on ( no need for extra person)

Best video on the M365 I've seen. No one seems to talk about how the folding mechanism breaks mostly because of people pulling on the bars backwards when accelerating/ pushing forwards when stopping. Most riders don't know that scooters are ridden like a skateboard and using the handlebars only for balance. Xiaomi should have tested this more and made it stronger. Also, use tire levers if you need to change a flat - small wheel diameter + pneumatic tires = lots of leverage needed (some bicycle tire models are hard to change too).

Thanks for your review mate, I appreciate your content and I agree with most of what you said about the scooter. I got mine 4 months ago and since then I got two flats on both front and rear tires :(. I'm now looking at solid tires and am somehow terrified about how hard they fit. A personal tip for this scooter is to grease the handlebars folding system with some quality water resistant grease. Makes a difference from heaven to earth on the folding effort and protects the folding mechanism.

I had solid tyres on the back of both my m365s and both had their batteries shaken to bits. Contacts broken on one and motherboard blown on the other. Had to order a new motherboard from China, which has since been installed. Unless you ride only on billiard table smooth surfaces, I would stick with pneumatic. Just my experience. Also the ride is a lot less pleasant on a solid tyre - 2 solids must be hell. However, I live in a city with TERRIBLE surfaces, so you might be fine where you live.

I have my m365 for a month now. I have done 230kms so far. Last night i had a puncture on the rear tire. I know it's going to be hard to fix but the joy i am getting out of this thing is so worth the troubles. Sadly i am moving to Sydney at the end of June and can't take it there. I am really really sad to leave it behind. Anyway, also yesterday i saw a notice on mi home page about Xiaomi recalling some m365s having an issue with the folding mechanism(it's breaking on the move). You can enter your serial number there to see if yours is one of the affected ones. Luckily mine is ok. Hope yours will be too guys. Thanks for the review Stu!

Clever intro. I got that xiaomi, helped me with work commute, and it's very sturdy. My only problem with it, or just with many e scooters in general, is that it can only go 25 km/h, whereas my average tempo with a bike is much faster, so it feels a bit sluggish, but it's just me really. I'll think about custom software to speed it up, but kinda afraid to do it. Also the range on this thing is insane.

I can't imagine the start of this video these days when there's scooters that go double, triple even the speeds of the xiaomi m365. This review had me set on this scooter and I've loved using it. It's the most cost effective, fast scooter. I'm thinking of getting a faster scooter with suspension soon though but those are double the price of the pro model, between 3-4x the price of the normal m365. My first m365 broke in a few weeks too, might have just been faulty but I got a replacement which hasn't broke thankfully. Biggest two tips is avoid bumps/jumps and especially water. I never jumps but bumps cause the most damage and well, water will destroy it I accidentally went through a giant puddle and it survived, one time though I got lucky.

I am a big fun of ptev's .My m365 has 1000km in 2 years,I put slime in tyres from day one and no panctures so far, recently installed a display from the pro model and custom firmware- highly recommended. The 30km claimed range is actually 20-22 for my 80kg weight. I own an old bike made electric with a hub kit for up to 80km trips ,a Xiaomi ninebot mini with 3000km onboard in 3 years (i only changed tyres once and know i have ordered a replacement battery because range is about 60% from the original 20km range) great for short commuting ,has smaller footprint and you can drink a coffee with the hands beeing free. Great video. I thoroughly empathized when you described your efforts to change the rear tyre. I went through *exactly* the same thing yesterday and ended up with a new tube inside a new tyre, after much sweating, grunting, swearing and ripped skin only to find that, like you, I had torn the tube and pumping air into it was as much use as trying to use an ashtray on a motorbike. Here in NZ it it legal to ride them, but Lime scooters here in Auckland have been ordered off the road due to the high number of people making ACC (Accident Compensation Commission) claims for injuries largely caused by their stupidity. But private scooters are not affected. The ACC (Auckland City Council) is going all in for this mode of transport, so I think they were reluctant to stop the Lime franchise from operating here.

Hi stu, that’s what I needed to hear pragmatic no propaganda. Realistic as over the next 6 months while I train in skilling and servicing on my adult kick scooter I hope it will help me to adapt to the xioumis nuances. Here in Australia there are a few local retailers who stock them. Here to they are affordable and for the short rides to the train over another 12 months would make it financially viable too.thankyou for the realistic review and I will definitely look for one with hard tyres as it would be no different to what I am riding now on the terrain I ride on

Actually in Lithuania bicycle driving rules apply to electric scooters and other similar electric transport. Anything with 25km/h speed limit and up to 1kW motor is considered as a bicycle. You must overtake pedestrian at the pedestrian speed (6-7 km/h) if you are driving on the sidewalk, because there is no bicycle lane or it is not safe to drive (bumps are present) on that lane.

Great review! Awesome drone shots! I've had my M365 for three months now. The first thing I did was replace the folding mechanism with a solid collar. I ordered a wooden deck from Berry Boards in England. The board is awesome. I have also placed a small spring over the brake cable to ensure that the brake does not drag. Also bought a Nutcase helmet after a nasty crash into a little pot hole. (Better late than never!) Have not had tire issues yet, but know I will. Overall, it's pretty nice for the price. When it wears out, I will be looking into the Boosted Rev.

Xiaomi M365 Pro is really good, but it still retains all the flaws and issues from the first model of rear fender breaking and rear light cable damaging from the tire rubbing, folding mechanism loosening and even breaking, very thin cheap tires that get punctured fast, quite bad water resistance and battery shaking with eventually breaking conctacts for quite heavy vibrations. Nontheless fantastic scooter, specially with unlock top speed to 32-35 km/h. It is probably the best scooter for the price, but can not wait for the Segway Ninebot Max which is basically M365 Pro just improved by quite a lot. Would be really nice to see a good review of that thing.

I have a m365 for 4 month and I'm really happy with it after some modifications mentioned in this review. Currently I'm an outlaw here in Germany. The upcoming law is quiet picky. The m365 will never become legal here. Because of a ton of reasons: - Too fast - Breaks - Wrong reflector color According to the draft of the law driving one in public is a "Ordnungswidrigkeit" and they can charge you up to 2000€. In by being uninsurred it can become extremly expensive in case of an accident. I use it nevertheless but ride it careful and defensive.

Amen! My front tire burst twice and each time, well, the first time more than the second, it was the single worst experience of my life. If I were to commit suicide, the difficulty of changing the tire on a M365 would make the first paragraph of my suicide note. Changing the front tire on this thing was an absolutely devastating experience. So, I, like you, wanted to switch to the solid tire, so that I would never have to change a tire again. But then I read that the solid tire is much harder to change than the inflatable kind. So, when my front tire burst a second time, I once again replaced it with another inflatable tire with an inner tube. It was once again a terrible, awful experience, but instead of being the worst experience of my life, it was more like the 8th worst experience of my life. You get one side on, and the other side comes off, then the other side on, and that the first side comes off, and back, and forth, and back and forth, and, I should be wearing gloves!! My hands!! And then finally, and kind of randomly, and with a whimper, the tire is all of the sudden, all the way on, and my reaction was..... restrained jubilation, because I really just feel ill used by Xiaomi. It's like a rape that inevitably ends only because it has to end. Because the rapist has to go the bathroom and eat. Next time a tire pops on my scooter, I will be ready, because I now have 2 dollars worth of plastic tire irons from Aliexpress. All the Xiaomi M365 tire changing videos barely even mention how hard it is. They act like it's an easy 5 minute task. Also, during my two tire changes, I've done some damage to the grey wire. Most of the casing is off and some wire is exposed. Still works though. I bought a new grey wire from Aliexpress for $5, for that inevitable day when it not longer works. But if that day ever comes, I'll just buy a new front wheel/motor with tire already installed for like $40 or $50 from Aliexpress or some other China type site. It's crazy that the front tire, that somehow has a MOTOR INSIDE OF IT, and with a tire already installed on it, costs around $45 online, but so be it. Thanks again Jeremy Clarkson. You're a talented guy.

I am using Xiaomi Mijia for 6 months on a daily basis to go to work. got it with 290 Pounds. I saved a lot of money and time during this time, I am doing 9 Miles minimum per day. It was funny to see your review about changing the tyres. I went thru that adventure twice, now I have 2 solid airless tyres which gives me a piece of mind about the glass on the pavement from iresponsabile drinkers. I wish these things will become legal in UK, as they are so useful, safe, friendly for environment, etc, etc, I really can't say anything negative. So far can hear only Brexit news around here. Thank you for your review.

Best review I've seen yet. I got 100km or so on mine, already punctured the back tire and paid $25 to for professionals to put a solid on. Also got some slight wobble so I ordered the little part to put in the mechanism. If you are using it for transportation (not recreation where no one is around you) I would recommend to SLOW down, stay in the road/bike lanes if at all possible, don't ride at night unless you outfit the scooter/yourself for that purpose. I've had a few close calls by not following these simple rules. You'll be surprised how far you can go just sticking it in ECO mode and using your foot to pedal assist. Then coast down the hills.

Excellent quality of the video mate, well done! Though I see you don't care much about your safety so I think you could replace the mainboard(with those 4 lights) for PRO version, have more info like speed readout, then you can hack it by uploding firmware that will allow you to increase the power and maximum speed up to like 45kph.

The reason why they the government won't make these scooters road legal along with other electric vehicles is quite simple. They want you to keep buying petrol. The Eco friendly progressive thought only goes so far, but when it threatens Taxation and Duty, you can stuff your scooters where the sun don't shine. They aren't interested in saving the environment. I've been all over Europe, in most cities you can hire these scooters for peanuts and off you go. Like Jeremy MK2 said, the laws date back to Viking days and they are not in any great hurry to review the relevance of such laws.

Agreed. But how come there are electric bikes around London now? Doesn't that same law apply because its a mechanically propelled vehicle too?

This is a very grey area. But as far as I know electrically assisted bicycles "should" fall under the same umbrella as Mopeds, which historically used to be motor assisted bicycles, although the pedals were eventually dropped. (50cc Scooters don't have pedals etc). But on saying that, Mopeds are required to have the yearly MOT, road tax and insurance. Electrically assisted bikes don't carry a VIN (Vehicle identification number) so they kinda dodge the legal classification as a road vehicle that can be classified, taxed and insured accordingly. Anyway, technically Electrically assisted push bikes are probably illegal mainly due to the fact that if you get hit by one, they won't have any insurance. Plus the owner might not have a braking system that is fit for purpose. Something that would be covered by an annual MOT and a set of rules governing just how efficient those brakes should be. Same goes for traffic indicators, brake lights and lights in general. the MOT checks and demands that if something is fitted, then it must work. As for London, to be honest I wouldn't ride this Scooter in busy traffic in any city. Obviously it is far too dangerous and to be limited electronically to a top speed of 29 MPH makes things even more dangerous, lacking the speed to get out of trouble doesn't help much. Should it be used only in the Cycle lanes along with the ordinary bicycles? I think YES for now, but what happens when the cycle lanes become congested with a mix of Electrical Scooters, and e-bikes. I'm sure that the Pedal people in their natty Lycra and shinny helmets will begin to whine and moan... :-) These machines work best when used in an environment that is not polluted by cars or commercial traffic. They are great fun, almost silent and you get a feeling that they are good for the planet.
@Amira1504

@@Gary-Seven-and-Isis-in-1968 Agreed. I'll still ride it around London to work and stuff but not in super congested areas. Who cares what the cyclists think, it isn't their road. Everyone has the right to ride on it.

Use zip ties when changing the tires. both, ro make the tire rounder so it sits deeper in the groove and also to hold it when you force it on. Also, i used two spoons (the other end) to help.

I love your review! Those e-scooters, especially personal ones are legal in many US states and cities. Many cities around where I live (south of LA) are flooded by e-scooters one can rent. I find riding them a lot of fun too. Two weeks ago I ordered an electric scooter which is based on Xiaomi 365, but is an advanced version of it. It is called Segway Kickscooter Max, and it can go with speeds up to 18 mph for up to 40 miles on a single charge. The production has not started yet, but I hope I will get mine sometime this July. According to the local laws, riders must have valid driver's license to operate an e-scooter. Registration and license plate is not needed. You must wear a helmet. You must use a bicycle lane if it is available. It is unlawful to ride it on the roads with speed limits that exceed 25 mph, and you should never drive faster than 15 mph. No riding on sidewalks. That'd pretty much summed it up.
