Every new folding phone that launches is good news for those of us who believe that foldables are the future.
Competition drives down prices; it spurs innovation; it increases choice. So I’m happy the Mi Mix Fold from Xiaomi exists - even if right now, I can’t think of anyone here in the US I’d actually recommend it to.

I'm not sure why anyone is buying Chinese phone to get their personal information handed over to China. Is saving couple of hundred bucks worth it? You are actually paying China to take your personal info if you think about it.

Too much wrong with this phone for me to consider at this stage - after your screen cracking example, I'll be waiting (quite a while) for you to "sign off" on folding screens for the real world before I consider indulging. BUT, VERY happy to watch everything you do to put them to the test 🙂 I guess trad slabs are Meh after the range of foldables you've been through so far. More please 😉

Seems like no one on KZfaq has discovered this, but if you open Mate X2 to around 15 degrees and hold it there for a few seconds, you will feel a buzz from the vibration motor, and the hinge will activate locking mode. Now you can lock it at any position.

Great video as always! More competition is always good. The issues with software aren't present on their phones that they do sell abroad from my experience. I assume you didn't dare to put a sim in it, but I'd assume that also wouldn't work well with band support differences.

7:48 Michael, did you try changing the default launcher settings from inside of the Nova Launcher settings? It usually works that way for Xiaomi devices as of late ;)

I think some people, like me, simply don't like that design language. I don't hate Apple, I simply don't like their products from an UI standpoint. Same goes for anything that mimics it.

Wish I caught this when it premiered (my second Moderna shot was early this morning and it knocked me out most of the day.) Was it an artifact of the camera filming or did the left quarter or so of the screen get slightly out of synch during scrolling when you had it open and in portrait mode at 7:45? I realize this may well be one of the shortcomings you decided wasn't worth covering in the review because of all the more prominent ones.

I actually like this, turn it off on select apps and let everything else only drain battery when in use; a funny side effect is that now my Google location history is full of holes

Still using my Fold 2 I got at launch. It is by FAR the best phone I've ever had. The only other form factor I think I'd take over the Fold 2 is a slide out phone.
