In this review, I tested the Xiaomi MiJia 1C (also known as Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop STYTJ01ZHM).
Update: the NiJia 1C now has virtual walls and zoned cleaning.
The Xiaomi MiJia 1C is a budget yet one of the strongest robot vacuums on the market and I do think it is a decent robot that might not have competitors in this price range.
I was surprised by how well it performs on carpet, it does handle my medium-pile carpet with ease and showed good results on a high-pile one too.
It has a good pickup ability, even was able to get sand on carpet which is rare for a robot vacuum especially with a price of around $240.
It is not the best in terms of mopping but it has electric water level control which even premium machines might not have sometimes. The mopping feature is a good option to have to keep your floors clean in between manual jobs and the MiJia is a truly good vacuum to do this task.
A resumption is also an option most budget robots don't have but the 1C does and it works like a champ.
I recommend this robot for anyone who wants a cleaner with a purposeful navigation pattern yet doesn't want to spend more on high-end camera or lidar-based machines. Also would be good if you have carpets and some hard floor area you would like to mop from time to time. It might not be good for big houses but is a great budget option for small and average homes.

So far so good with this vacuum. kzfaq.infoUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.

Thank you. The 1C senses big obstacles and walls but might bump into one sometimes as it is not as accurate as the Lidar-guided robots. Overall I would say better than most budget robots if that makes sense :)

For virtual barriers and no zones, I used my Home Xiaomi App wtih China servers and click on experimentals functions and you can save your Map and include this feautures. 1 hour and 30 minutes on normal Mode for my apartment of 240 square feet does an excellent Job. Its only floor not carpet, the other day I found some coins on the dust bin the 2500 of suction its insane on this one. Do you plan to review the Xiaomi G1 model? I'm wondering if the newer G1 will beat 1C?
@SmartRobotReviews
@SmartRobotReviews 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure, but hope I'll have an opportunity to test the G1. I don't think it will beat the 1C. The G1 is a budget model, it uses gyroscope for navigation purposes which is very inaccurate navigation technology compared to the camera-based navigation in the 1C. Because of the limitations of the gyroscope technology, the G1 will not save the created map, it will never get zoned cleaning feature and no-go zones.

Is there any significant difference with the Roborock S5 in terms of perfomance when cleaning carpets? Thank you!

Hi, thanks for watching! 1. Yes, it got this feature later via firmware update, when the video was already published. 2. In terms of performance, I don't think it performs worse than the S5 Max. Just keep in mind that the 1C has a weaker battery compared to the Roborock so it can't work too long on higher suction mode (which is needed mostly for carpets).

@SmartRobotReviews
@SmartRobotReviews 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You can place it in a particular room and the robot will map it out but you can't make it work in a certain room automatically as it does not save a map and doesn't really know where it should clean before it gets started. It follows a purposeful pattern which means it it not moving randomly and it also covers the whole area when cleaning but it can not clean a specific room on its own, only if you manually put it in the kitchen and close the door. Only some camera-guided and Lidar-based robots can do so.

Hi there. Normally it covers about 1 square meter per minute. On max mode, it runs for up to 40 minutes, on low power for about 110 minutes. My place is ~50 m2 of the cleaning area and it's hardly covering it all on one charge on the highest settings. As to the gap, the robot's height is 3.23 in / 8.2 cm so anything below those numbers is a no-no for it ;)

You don't need the internet connection to use this robot vacuum. It can build a map without the internet, but if you want to see the map, set no-go zones, use zoned cleaning, schedule the robot, change suction power mode and water output mode, etc, you need a wi-fi connection. The robot can be paired with the Mi Home app through a wi-fi router. Unfortunately, you can't use the mobile internet to connect the robot. Maybe only if you set a wi-fi hotspot on one phone with mobile internet, and use the app on another phone, but not sure if it will work.

Yes, the cleaning performance is very close to the flagship Roborock models. Maybe it has even stronger suction, at least, the manufacturer claims 2600Pa of suction power. @SmartRobotReviews

Hi, the Mop P is slightly better at mopping but it also spends more time as it needs to go over the spot twice. If you need room cleaning, the Mop P would be a better choice. Navigation. Because of the Lidar the Mop P is better at navigation but you might not notice it if you never had a Lidar-guided robot. Thanks and answering it, yes. The S5 Max has a bigger battery. I live in a small apartment and on Max mode, the 1C hardly could finish cleaning on one charge. The S5 Max has a better mopping system. In my opinion, it does slightly better as a mop. You can also customize suction level and water output for each room with the Roborock. The Xiaomi is really good for small homes and homes with minimum clogged areas. Navigation of the Roborock is better too. It supports 4 maps, the 1C saves one only. The Xiaomi also lacks carpet boost so it doesn't increase suction on carpets. All in all the Xiaomi is an amazing robot but its small battery is its flaw.

The new firmware update has been released and brought a few new features to the Xiaomi MiJia 1C: map saving option, no-go zones, virtual walls, and zoned cleaning. At the moment, you can try the new firmware by switching your region in the Mi Home settings to the China mainland, updating the firmware to the latest version, activating "Experimental features" in the robot settings menu, and turning on the map saving option. Considering the new features, I would highly recommend buying this robot if you are looking for a budget, but still smart and powerful device. Edit: According to the Reddit post www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/flu6yi/xiaomi_mijia_1c_stuck_turning_on/?sort=new, some users experience an issue with activated experimental features. Basically, it breaks the device and it won't turn on anymore. Xiaomi temporary disabled the experimental features.

@SmartRobotReviews
@SmartRobotReviews 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, I think the robot vacuum helps a lot with pet hair. You can run it daily without any effort from your side, you just need to empty the dustbin as it will be packed with pet hair after every usage and clean the roller brush once a week or so. The 1C handles pet hair pretty well, but I would not recommend it for houses bigger than 100sq.m. as it has a relatively small battery.

OK, after using the machine for a year, it died. It was sent for repair which came back with a replacement battery. I was quite happy about that but it stopped working after 40 seconds. Fully charged the machine and it was the same. I sent it back and it was returned to me saying no problem with the unit. I took it back and it happened the same. I took a video to prove it, but it came back saying the video they copied was cut off after 15 secs. They tested the unit with a full run and it was OK. I collected it and it happened the same. I recorded it again and uploaded to Google Drive for them. Last night I was told to collect it. They gave me a brand new Roborock S6 Pure. They said it was a known problem that when it was in Turbo, it drained the battery. I said it was OK for the past year. They said it happened after using it for a while.

Compared with Lidar-based robot vacuums, the mapping system of the 1C is not as accurate and precise. However, it's still pretty good considering that it costs less than robot vacuums with Lidar. Keep in mind that it will not be able to clean your entire house on one charge on maximum suction mode. But on the normal suction mode, it should be enough to clean your 80 sq. m. house. I've used it with a dual-band Wi-Fi router, so no problems here.

But what of it's navigation, does it get stuck under chairs, does it wedge itself under cross arms, how does it avoid carpets or do you have to barricade the carpets off with heavy objects when mopping. Does it quickly find it's docking station or just turns off it's vacuum yo save energy and hope it's movements crosses the capture area in front of the dock?
@SmartRobotReviews
@SmartRobotReviews 3 жыл бұрын
There are so many different chairs so hard to say for sure. It depends on the chair's design and space between the chair legs. It doesn't get stuck under my chairs. You can set no-go zones in the app in the places where your carpets are located, so no needs to barricade the carpets. It's not very convenient if you plan to use the mopping function quite often, because you should delete the no-go zones every time you switch from mopping to vacuuming and vice versa. But still better than barricading the carpets. The robot builds a map and knows where the dock is located so if the dock is placed in another room, it will find it within a minute or so.

Or get 2 units of 1C, one for upstairs and one for downstairs 😅 concerned abt the budget too. Or just get 1 unit of 1C and divide the cleaning times since the battery is small (clean downstairs first, charge then bring it upstairs for 2nd round). Appreciate your reply. Thanks 😊

For a double storey house I would suggest buying the Roborock S5 Max if you considering this model. It has a larger battery and saves multiple maps, works great in the dark, and more accurate in terms of navigation. You can move it manually on the second floor when you need to. The S5 Max is just better in every way and Roborock has better customer support too. So if the higher price of the Roborock isn't an issue for you, I would recommend the S5 Max.

Hi Jeffri. You can see the cleaning report at 4:14 the robot spends about 53 minutes to clean a 42 square meters area. The robot follows a purposeful back-and-forth pattern, it's not a randomly-moving machine, the MiJia does not miss a spot when cleaning and is more efficient than those that navigate randomly. Your place is not too big and the 1C should be just fine for the area, it might even finish cleaning before needs to recharge (depending on the cleaning mode) so you don't have to wait until it resumes the cycle. Does that help? :)

@@jasonphilip695 Most likely it will not work with a shaggy carpet. The robot may get stuck or struggle to move on it. The thickest carpet it can handle you can see at 1:32 on this video.

Hi, how does this compare to the xiaomi mi robot vacuum mop 25012, or are they the same unit? Thanks in advance :)

Hi, it's the same model. The 1C is a Chinese version name, the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop is an international name.

Hi there, yes this model is a good option. It has strong suction and has a good pick up ability. In my opinion, this one is the best robot vacuum for the price.

How is it compared to the more expansive xiaomi robot

The most expensive Xiaomi model is the Mop P. I've compared it with the 1C here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r8WKo6upsbC6lmQ.html Compared to the Mop P, the 1C has a smaller battery and not as accurate navigation, but it has much better cleaning performance, probably the best among the Xiaomi models.

I just received mine, vacuum is perfect but mopping, just does the same wile wetting the floor, on your video it seems to do little forward and backward movements to clean better, is there something to activate ?
@SmartRobotReviews
@SmartRobotReviews 3 жыл бұрын
In the video, I run the robot in a small rectangle where the stains were located, that's why it looks like the robot moved forward and backward. Yes, it's basically wetting the floor, and it can't remove old stubborn stains, so you still need to mop your floor manually from time to time. However, it is still helpful, since you don't need to mop the floor manually as often as usual and it helps to keep your floor clean if you use it every day or a few times per week.

Hello good job with the video! i only have one question. ¿How do you select the mop?/ ¿Can the robot vacuum with the mop installed?
@SmartRobotReviews
@SmartRobotReviews 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thank you. If you do not fill the tank with water, it would not mop. If you fill the tank with water and set water level output the robot will do vacuuming and mopping simultaneously

@@Nohoihoewa Maybe some settings on your wi-fi router are not compatible with the air purifier. Also, some Chinese devices are locked to work only in China. However, the 1C doesn't have such limitations. At least I have a Chinese version of the robot and it works in Europe. To pair the robot with the app, your wi-fi router should be properly configured, support the 2.4GHz band (5GHz is not supported), use the WPA2 encryption method (others are not supported). Most routers have these settings by default, but some may be configured differently.

Hi! Is 1C good with cat hair or i should consider the roborock s50?
@SmartRobotReviews
@SmartRobotReviews 3 жыл бұрын
It is pretty good for pet hair, definitely not worse than the Roborock S5. Just keep in mind that the Xiaomi has a much weaker battery so it is good for small homes while the Roborock has a twice bigger battery and lasts longer on one charge. Also, the S5 has more accurate and efficient navigation since it uses Lidar instead of a camera.

@@SmartRobotReviews Thanks for response! But I was also wondering about the Xiaomi mop p, it has lidar and bigger battery. So that could be great budget alternative? Because roborock s50 in my country is quite expensive but the house is big, around 60 square metres. So do you think mop p is worth the extra over c1?
@SmartRobotReviews
@SmartRobotReviews 3 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, the Roborock S5 is better than the Xiaomi Mop P, at least in terms of cleaning performance, build quality, app stability, navigation efficiency. The S5 just feels like a finished well-supported product. Also, the Mop P shows worse cleaning performance on carpets compared to the Roborock S5 and Mijia 1C, even though Xiaomi claims it has 2150 Pa of suction. But it's a hard choice considering that the Mop P is cheaper and has some features that the S5 lacks. Also, because the Mop P uses Lidar, it has more accurate and precise navigation than the 1C.
