I love that X knew immediately what Zedaph had done, and was duly impressed! Minecraft has so many weird little quirks, it's hard to keep track of them all.

Next time you build something you should bring a hermit to have a tour like Pearl does in her videos. You said in your latest stream that you find it difficult to just go up to someone and talk about nothing, so having a build you want to show off can help with that (and it's just really fun to watch hermits interact)

xisuma, i think the reason the villagers never go towards the land is because the closest land they see has a track on it. similar to how you can surround a zombie with tracks and its AI won't let it cross.

The reason the villagers got infected is because zombies can attack diagonally as long as they have line of sight it probably hooped onto the panes and did the stabby stabby

15:40 The weird ordering seems to be that minecraft processes each hopper in order of first-to-last created. Using the new "/tick freeze" and "/tick step" commands, you can see how the scrambling occurs: as it processes each hopper individually, it looks to see where it can put the item in the hopper's target. If it's the crafter, it puts it in following the crafter's rules. If it's another hopper, it puts it in the first *available* slot. In the "normal" way, it's putting the item directly into a hopper that has already been processed that tick, (so the target hopper has moved its item forwards and is now empty) it puts the item in the first slot. In the re-ordered way, everything works fine until you get to the re-ordered hopper. It's not processed until after all the others, so the hopper that targets the re-ordered hopper will see it still has an item in it. If the two items are the same nothing goes wrong (yet), it just stacks them both into the first slot and sorta works as normal. When the reordered hopper contains a different item type though, the "current" hopper is forced to put an item in slot *two* instead. At the end of tick processing, the re-ordered hopper now has an empty slot 1 position and an item in slot 2. That slot 2 item is now going to be pushed through last, as everything else will just get put in slot 1 and moved on until there's no more items coming into the hopper. TL;DR even though all hoppers are processed during the same game tick, they are processed sequentially in the order they were created - so you can end up with hoppers having an item in slot 2 and nothing in slot 1, even though there is never a point where you can see two items in a hopper. It all goes wrong from there on subsequent game ticks, since it resets back to using slot 1 on the next hopper-processing tick (ignoring the slot 2 item), until there's nothing left.

You could put the materials of the recipe into the Autocrafter so you don't have to worry about what order they go in. Then just have a component that detects when the hopper runs out of items and have it turn off the Autocrafter before it makes that last item. For the Bamboo farm, instead of constantly having the flying machine going back and forth, you could either set it on a timer, or have an observer set 10 blocks high by one of the bamboo stalks (10 is the minimum height the bamboo can grow) and gave it activate the flying machine whenever that bamboo grows in front of it. Either of those should give you a lot more bamboo.

The villagers probably got changed by a baby zombie jumping on the glass panes, they aren't over 1 block high

For the Witch farm off-switch, wouldn't a memory reset circuit be better than a T Flip Flop. since if you were ever to go to the farm just before the server restarts, the farm would turn on. But with a memory circuit the restart pulse just resets the memory to false every time, instead of flipping the state of the farm.

I came here for hermit antics. Walked away with a ton of knowledge about the quirks of autocrafters. You make redstone so accessible. I definitely would have gone crazy if I didn't know about these little quirks. Your videos have always been so enjoyable on multiple levels.

If you use the copper bulb with the witch farm, if the farm was off when the server restarts, it's going to pulse the copper bulb turning the farm on

for the auto-crafter, could you swap the hoppers for droppers and them put a fast clock on the droppers ? if im not mistaken a dropper line is like 2x faster than a hopper line, so it would make the crafter at least 2x faster since it will get more items

Armadillos are going to be bread with spider eyes, if you start farming them now you can get the jump on a farm or sell them to other hermits.

I can't remember the last time I've heard the word ridonkulous used, but it certainly got a surprised laugh out of me when I heard you say it not a minute into the video. I remember using the word pretty often as a kid cuz it sounded so silly. I'm gonna have to start using it again now. It's such a fun word!

Not sure if you saw but in yesterday's live stream doc looked at your bamboo farm and stated the constant back and forth is killing your rates. Something to consider or discuss with others?

Why is the sweeper in the bamboo far constantly running back and forth? Couldn't it run 10 or more times less frequently? As you wouldn't loose bamboo efficiency unless the plant was to grow to max height or hit a ceiling block, and it would save a lil bit of server/pc performance while it's loaded

Regarding your zombificated Villagers at 09:00 The hole is 0.875 Blocks high and a Zombie baby is 0.975 Blocks so he cant get in but a chicken is only 0.8 Blocks high so a chicken Jocky can just jump in with a little suffication dmg and turn your Villagers

A curious question about the data pack(3:44) if the farm is off during a restart wouldn't it turn the farm back on? As I was writing this I realised that the chunks are not going to be loaded unless either someone is online by the farm, or afking with the farm on. so theirs only a very unlikely circumstance of it failing

Question (you don't have to answer) I love seeing the time lapses of these farms being built (especially the insane stuff like Tango's auto crafting factory) about how long on average do these monstrosities take to build (Resource gathering included) cause even with a time lapse it seems like a crazy amount of time.

The most likely reason why your villagers died was a trident drowned. But even rarer and maybe more likely depending on the location it could've been a chicken jockey

So… any time your farm is off when the server shuts down, it will toggle the copper block, start up the flying machine, and maybe break? You want an SR latch, not a T flip flop.

are baby zombie's AI thwarted by glass panes, as in they won't try to jump up on them? If the baby can get up onto the lower glass panes, they can probably reach the villagers along the diagonal, the same as when they do it through open-corner walls.

hey X where did you find the resource packs for the dark GUI for the crafter and the indicator on the hoppers indicating if its powered or not? i dont see anything on vanilla tweaks regarding either pack. thought i would ask here

Could you maybe simplify the auto crafting setup for some recipes by storing a recipe in an autocrafter and using a second autocrafter as an inventory ‘backlog’ so that the first crafter only crafts one when it has enough ingredients for two?

i wish mojang put the green book in auto crafters, then you could select the thing you want to craft and it would turn out each time.

An interesting nerf to make villagers more interesting especially in early game is to use villagers on a chicken only. No other villagers allowed.

xisuma can you do a tutorial for the basic redstone and on? some of us have nearly no clue how to use redstone and even the redstone book does not help us learn. id love to be able to figure out how to work redstone on my own.

I'm so sad us normal players still don't have the crafter and tuff blocks the Hermits have, these tutorials are really useful but I will forget about them by June :((( (I know they are under experimental features but most ppl don't use those yet including me)

Is that bone meal farm unload safe? I've been searching recently for one that's unload safe because I hate farms that need to be constantly turned on and off but they're rare if they exist. I just saw a lot of obsidian and figured maybe that helps prevent the piston timing issues other farms have with unloading.

Couldn't that pulse block turn on the farm if it was already off and break it? Instead you could use a non sticky piston to push a block out of a redstone line to turn it off and another piston to push it back in line from a button to turn it on.

Why not the Chromoss bonemeal farm? It is very lag efficient and produces quite a lot of bonemeal. I know you try to be different but at some point it's like trying to reinvent the wheel.
