Thanks Carter... Something to remind you maybe a little lithium grease on the springs the next time you have it open, although you might not be able to hear the springs through the heavier walled stainless. 👍🤠

I probably should have thrown some on for good measure but I am hearing no spring sing at all

I heard you say it was different internally, thank you now I see. I don't like face switch otf's, but I like the double gate open and closed! The bottom gates were not on track with the track

Never took apart that type of OTF. Actually seems easier than a top switch. The 2/2 lock gates are why its super strong just like the Maxace Neptune. The steel Maxace Medusa is 431 Steel, its insanely strong, but also insanely heavy. Its an 8oz OTF.

Cool. Glad you took it apart. Insides look good. If I remember correctly the original had a mechanism that one could adjust blade play, otherwise I like the double locks and the stainless 'scales".

Yes, entirely different system inside on the original.

The carriage was sitting on the rear locking lugs the first time. When you took the cover back off the carriage slid forward into place. 👍

I would’ve loved a true replica of the old sand shark in a regular production run (if it’s a limited run there’s no way I can enjoy actually using it) BUT I do like that they improved the typical OTF design in someways. Hopefully the company will listen to us and give us a proper reboot! Thanks again for making this video!

Entertaining video, thanks. Idea for one of your rant videos- see that eagle claw on your workmat? NO, that is not the Microtech 'claw' logo. It is the unit insignia of the US Army's 17th Airborne Division (Golden Talons). Heres the rant: HOW can Microtech register trademark that as their logo??? Guess i can register trademark the 2nd Ranger Bat scroll for myself; maybe you'd like to register the Presidential Seal.... thought that was illegal but IDK, its like soup on a plate- it just aint right

Who knows. They said 300 in this first batch, but I havnt heard anything specifically saying hmthis config won't be produced again.
@David_DY20 күн бұрын
Supposed to be limited to 300 I believe they will make more But probably not with a stainless chassis But only time will tell.
@mistermaleebs391619 күн бұрын
The original word months before being released was limited run of 1000. Then 300 were released in SS. I speculate if originally a run of 1000, that only so many in SS released and as getting feedback from that release quite possibly the rest being colored aluminum body variations.... IDK, just a thought

I find it pathetic that Microtech can use lower quality materials like 6061 aluminum and have a blade wiggle, yet still charge $1,000+ on knives inferior to my Deadlock.

Was considering picking this up or an Pirahna Excalibur. Would you kindly offer a suggestion? They are both about the same price. I’ve heard the Excalibur uses very similar build to the original DKW SS but I’m unable to confirm with certainty. I figured I’d carry the newer purchase alternating with a Kershaw Livewire I recently ordered. Thank You! As a side note, I should mention that I have an original DKW SS Black on Black but have never carried it or played with it at all. It’s in storage. Btw, love the channel and glad I’ve subscribed recently. I enjoy the close camera hands on approach and knowledgeable stream of thought

I would go Excalibur. It does use a VERY similar build to the OG sandshark, they just tweeked a few things. It's way more carryable. The new Sandshark is a heavy beast. Piranha has great customer service too.

@@edged_mindset awesome. Thank You for the considerate response, timely response. I’ll take your advice and pick up the Excalibur. Appreciate it. I’ll be regularly checking in. Keep up the great work!
