Thank you guys so much for these videos! I used to have an old Ironhead but never got into the motor. Now I have acquired a 90 Sportster 883 with 1200 heads, weisco pistons... When I got the bike it was dripping from the cam cover and I could see some oil blow out residue on the front head gasket, so knowing I had to dig in I ordered complete gasket kit (Genuine James) and started tearing her apart. Luckily I watched some of your videos 1st and when I saw this one I was so glad because I certainly was going to do only a top end and then once finished crack open the cam cover. Now I know that would've been a big mistake! Thank you again for the education you are an excellent teacher! I couldn't have done it correctly without your help!

Great video guys I want to check my oil pump gear drive on my buell x1 I just want to check it so can I just remove the casing without taking the pressure off the rocker covers if I'm not taking the timing out? Literally just checking the gear drive.

Can you still remove the top end , if you pulled the cams out first

If I just need to change out the cam cover gasket do I still need to relieve the pressure from the rocker boxes? 01 sportster 1200.

Yes, the cam cover is what supports the outboard side of the cams. So when you remove the cover without first relieving the valve spring pressure, you're torquing the cams sideways in their inboard bushings. It's a bad plan.

Cam box question if possible , i have an 1998 XL 1200 S am not a fan of the( tatty ) spray silver finish on the out side cases . id like to fit lacquered standard finish cases from an XL 1200 C or similar of the same age . does the cam box fit straight on , i know the S has different profile cams , is there any clearance issues ?

A cam box cover from a 91-99 model fits. But check the gear fit of your cams when you change the cover, because it will change. See here for more info: www.hammerperf.com/ttxlcaminstall.shtml#gearfit

What do you think about that ignition system cuz I have it on Xlh1200s 1998. How it behaves with 1250 kit that I have.?

The Dyna 2000i or Dyna 2000 external is a great ignition for use with our engine kits. Static time it per our other video and put it on curve 4 and leave it there. Your motor will make max power and be safe for the pistons.
