Like the XM Captain America but I love the Sideshow one better. Too many statue of Captain America try to go the realistic route and they do not include the wings on the head gear or they just paint them on. I personally prefer the more comic version look to Captain America and that pose makes the Sideshow piece better looking. One thing I do give to XM is that with their Captain America they did make a separate Red skull statue to go him. That would be easily remedied if or when Sideshow makers a 1/4 scale sculpt of the Red skull.

Xm studios deserves credit for producing the characters that may not be as popular. Sideshow should definitely take more chances and produce those characters. A red skull premium format statue would probably sell well if done right.

Great comparison video. I love when collectors do these types of videos. Helps us a make those hard decisions when purchasing our next statues. These things aren’t cheap.

I can't get over how that XM Cap is stepping up sideways on boxes. That's how you bust your ass. It looks awkward. The action lines through the Sideshow are all just right. That's a classic comic book pose.

That's my biggest issue with the xm one. It's just kind of awkward compared to ss.

Excellent review and camera work! Thank you for comparing the details so clearly. I have the Sideshow one, because as soon as I saw it online, I immediately flashed back to reading Avengers comics as a kid. The XM version is nice, but the base has a c'mon really? I don't understand why Cap would run up a stack of those random suitcases, that happened ro be lying around. XM usually has better bases than Sideshow, so I'm a bit surprised to see how underwhelming this one is. Overall, I think the XM one is a statue that movie fans might appreciate more, while fans of the old comics might relate to Sideshow's more. And Sideshow usually does more modernized Caps, so I was very surprised to see them release this as well. I think Sideshow has one with Thor's hammer- that might be an interesting comparison.

Thank you for taking the time to do this. Unfortunately, I still want them both lol. XM's detailing is unmatched, but the SS pose is much more dynamic with the sculpt itself being more comic book accurate. They both did Steve justice.

Thanks for your detailed review. I love both. I have the XM and sold the Sideshow because, unless you have him in a higher display shelf/position, he is looking down and his portrait is not as prominent as that of the XM.

Good point on the ss cap. Must be on the upper level shelf to be appreciated. The unmasked portrait on the xm is amazing, but i like the ss masked one better, but that's just me. Thanks for your input.

The XM one is better, only the shield is better on Slideshow, but overall, XM WINS!!!

I like the sideshow one better personally, but I liked the xm one as well. Choices are a good thing.

I'm on the wait lists for the Sideshow Collectable version of Cap. His statue is more action oriented while the other one is more detailed. Plus Sideshow is more comicbook accurate. It's a tough choice, and up to the collector.

Goog luck converting that waitlist, it's a really great statue. For me the XM missed on the pose but the details were great. Ultimately I decided to keep the sideshow one but you really can't go wrong either way.

I agree completely! I got the Sideshow Cap. With the prices it's a no brainer! But if the the price of the XM Cap was similar to Sideshow's, I would have both!

After shopping around I can get the sideshow for 550 and the XM ver b for 945. Think it's a no brainer tbh in value for money sideshow at 400 less is massive

Maybe I am biased, but I grew up reading The Invaders with the Capt. America that looked like @collectsideshow Cap, except maybe not that belt. I am hoping that after Black Panther Forever comes out, we also get a comic accurate Namor. I also want the first Human Torch and would be thrilled to get teen Bucky and Toro.

I've never had any leaning issues with my statues thankfully. That's mostly a thing of the past. They are so well engineered today that it's almost a non issue. Thank you!

I have both and like them both. The switchouts and that the Sideshow does not have Cap looking up - straight ahead - instead of downward, will make him be cut once the Queen Studios Winter Soldier and Iron Studios Legacy arrive. Can't fit em all.

@@vividcollectibles Thanks, it is. He has been my favorite since I was a kid - a lifetime ago. I have had a few over the years going back to a small cold cast porcelain Marvel through all the Sideshows. Now, have 2 (not sure exactly why) of the 1/3 Legendary Beast/XM Caps, the 1/3 Thor, a Prime 1 1/3 Arkham Origins Batman, 1/3 Gold version Batman Beyond, 1/3 Iron Studios Superman, 1/4 Daredevil Legacy and Sideshow Recent Silver Surfer. And, have started getting the 1/6 DC XMs and Tweeterheads. I seem to want to change up the collection every few years. Then I get sellers remorse on some that have left. Lol Very enjoyable, though. Collectitis it is.

Some of the comments make me want to keep this new Sideshow Cap too. I also started in Queen with their 1/4 Iron Man Mark VII and have their Mark I on order.

I would take the SS over the XM even if they were the same price. I have and love my XM statues but they are hit or miss on their sculpts. XM often remind me of an Ansel Adams quote, to paraphrase, “what good is a sharp image of a fuzzy idea”.

Leaning is a thing of the past with these ss statues. I have their gambit maquetter and the flash pf and, I've had no issues with leaning. This one feels solid and secure as well. Obviously time will tell but so far so good.

This pegs on pretty solidly. They got the physics on this down to a science.

The xm body sculpt looks more like a wolverine body type condensed and muscular... Not a taller Steve Rogers!

I never looked at it that way but I can see your point. It's actually very well done. The pose is kind of awkward from some angles.

@@vividcollectibles yea i like the sideshow version better but the size difference and legs on the xm reminds me of wolverine and not cap.... The details look great on the xm also... Butbstill prefer the sideshow!

@@Titan7170 The SS version is overscaled by a bit compared to the XM. The XM version has great details and paint applications but the pose looks a little off from some angles. For me, the SS one just looks better.

Sideshow kills the XM, great pose and visually appealing. The XM is detailed with better paint apps but looks soulless in comparison.

Soulless! Yikes! 😂😂😂 I hope they don't read this comment, they're a little sensitive about their work. But it's hilarious because while I wouldn't go that far, I can definitely see your point. I think that's a result of the designer attempting to be creative, but focusing on the setting rather than the action and story. Where as Sideshow's tells us neat little story with a beginning, middle, and end. He detroyed their tanker, they shot at him, he blocked it. And now, he's fearlessly locked onto his next target. His temperament is assassinesque. XM's Cap is gritting his teeth because he doesn't know what he's gonna do next. "Why am I running up these boxes." Put the hammer in his hand: "which weapon do I use?" Change the sculpt: "maybe I should kept the cowl on, now my hair's gonna get dirty." 😆
