This is a program that I've been using lately which I've had good luck with. I use it to quickly cherry pick silver coins from heavily hunted parks and other places. It hits coins on edge really well and goes fairly deep in my soil. Figured I'd upload it here incase any of you guys want to try it out.
A couple of notes if using Silver Slayer in version 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0+: Silver Slayer was designed for use with version .71, but can be applied to newer versions with a few tweaks. In the newer versions, a few things have changed. If you're using version 1.0 or later, you may need to tweak your notch settings depending on which base program you choose. For example, in Deep HC, nickels will read 54-59. In the Fast program, they generally read 59-64. If using Fast as shown here, the notch settings in this video should be very close. I suggest setting the first notch to accept 58-64 and the second notch to accept 86+, as coins tend to read a little lower in the newest versions. Finally, the iron volume setting has been changed. If you like to hear the iron to help give hints about possible falsing or good targets mixed with iron, you'll likely need to bump the volume up to 7 or 8, which will be similar to 5 on version .71.
These settings will also work great when using Deep HC as the base program. Just note the notch adjustments mentioned above if using version 1.0 or later.

A few tips for using this program: 1) If you’re hunting cleaner ground and want to get a little more depth, you can lower your reactivity to 1 or even 0.5. Slow your swing speed to match. 2) Listen for those very faint yet repeatable “zip zip” type signals. Those are often really deep coins! 3) If you see a mixture of low 90s with the occasional 88 or 89 on the screen, it’s most likely a copper penny. Dimes will usually stay in the 90s. Sometimes deep copper pennies up-average well into the 90s, so no getting around digging a few of them.

I just recently got into detecting and found your program. I have used this program in 2 or 3 parks over the last week and I have to say it totally works! I found 2 silver rings, 2 silver dimes, and an 1875 Seated quarter dollar! Not all at the same park. What I have learned is, IF you are hunting coins or rings, you just have to trust the program and the tones you get. The only time this program has failed me is the occasional pull tab masquerading as a nickel, dime or quarter. (How many metals do they make those dang pulls out of anyway??) If you get a good repeatable tone with this program it's a good bet it's something worth keeping. And you don't spend your day digging foil and mystery objects. Great stuff!!

As we know this machine gives us so much room for tweaking . It’s so nice to have a guy like you who can really learn the ins and outs of our hobby ad help us progress in the states. Thinking out loud my first impressions of Deep HC is its like the Nox’s single high frequency conductor program that hits to many type aluminum targets and makes iron sound good. Keep providing feed back so many of us appreciate the time and effort you put into your channel. Anyone who runs a active a thriving channel knows how much work is involved! Good job!

This is a great coin program! This is almost exactly the program I have been using since I got my Deus II in February of this year. I use a program close to this on the Deus 1 as well. It cuts out a lot of trash and does get the coins at a good depth. I have to use a program like this because I am mainly a clad hunter and I hunt extremely trashy parks and the ground is like concrete. I do not advertise these settings because people like to put me down and say that 'you have to dig it all' and that may be true for some people in some situations, but not in mine. I have a video on my channel that shows how trashy my parks are and I dare anyone that hunts where I do to 'dig it all' as that just will not happen. Thanks for this video as I am sure it will help many others to have some fun and successful hunts.
@MetalDetectingNWGA
@MetalDetectingNWGA 2 жыл бұрын
Hey James, I agree 100%! Sometimes (a lot of times) it’s just not possible to “dig it all”. To me, detecting is a game of odds. I want to increase the treasure to trash ratio so that I can spend more time recovering good targets and less time chasing junk. Don’t get me wrong, when I’m hunting older sites for relics I use much less discrimination and dig a lot more targets, but if I tried that at my local trashy parks I’d end up with a pouch full of trash and an aching back. I’m no spring chicken anymore, so I’m just not able to dig it all. Will I miss some good targets? Absolutely. But at the end of the day I’ll get more good targets for the time I spent detecting. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Using a Modified version of your program to find most coins in US. I increased the Notch to include Zinc Pennies and Narrowed the Nickle Notch to cut out more Tabs. I had my Reactivity on 2 but am undecided if I should lower that or not. Finding a bunch of Coins on end but not much Silver so far. I had one place that I have hunted with V3i, VX3, and Etrac. This was a very small yard at an old House. I think I found at least 10 coins, no silver, but several old Wheats, that were missed with the other Detectors. I did find a 42 Mercury yesterday and I tested it using the XY screen and got nothing but a Dot. All I hunt is old houses so I am still undecided about the Reactive speed.

Thanks for the report Danny. Sounds like you're finding plenty of coins. Silver will come as well. Just gotta get your coil over it. As always a great video. I have lot of time on the Nox and realize you do also. One of the things I ran across is deeper copper pennies could ring up as dimes or even quarters at times. Does the Dues also suffer from this issue, or are VDI”s accurate. I do all I can to avoid pennies and just want dimes and above.
@MetalDetectingNWGA
@MetalDetectingNWGA 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve. The Deus 2 does still up average on some deeper pennies, though not nearly as much as the original Deus. For whatever reason, it seems to up average more on the modern copper memorials than wheat cents. I’ve noticed that a lot of times when it’s a deep penny up averaging, I’ll still see the occasional 89-90 (copper penny range) ID flash on the screen, which is a tell that I most likely have a copper rather than a silver. The ID on a deep copper seems to bounce around a little more than a deep silver too. The D2 ID isn’t perfect, but it’s consistent and still really good IMHO. Its waaaay better than the original Deus. A little better than the Equinox too, in my opinion.

correct me if im wrong but higher weighted frequencies like fast (40khz max) would hit better on low conductors such as gold. for silver youd want lower frequencies
@MetalDetectingNWGA
@MetalDetectingNWGA 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, higher weighted frequencies will hit low conductors deeper and lower weighted frequencies will hit high conductors deeper. There are some other advantages though, that higher weighted frequencies offer. For example, hitting coins on edge and separation. I’ve been finding a lot of coins on edge in heavily hunted parks. The frequency set used by the fast program still hits silver coins very well. It’s pegging those silver coins in parks that others have missed over the years. But if all out depth is your main goal, then yes something like Deep HC would be a better choice.

I actually gave up on my first Deus 1 too. Got frustrated with it and sold it only to buy another one a year later. I learned how to use the 2nd one, learned it’s limitations and really liked it after that. XP seems to have fixed pretty much all of the D1’s weaknesses with the D2. It has an excellent ID, way more stable and doesn’t false on iron nearly as much. You can actually use it to hunt sites with modern trash, unlike the original Deus. I’m really enjoying mine. A lot of the settings on the Fast program and others are just personal preference. I like to hear the iron, so I keep iron volume around 4. I like for the deeper targets to sound a bit more faint, but not too faint so I keep audio response set at 5. I like to keep bottlecap high when hunting parks but I drop it down to 2 or so when hunting older sites. Silencer gets knocked down a notch or two when hunting in thick iron. Other things like reactivity and sensitivity are also adjusted according to the site I’m hunting. But my favorite base program has been Fast with pitch tones.

I’ve never tried putting in any custom programs using just the WS6, so I’m not sure what the limitations are, if any. I was under the impression that the puck could do pretty much everything the remote can, but like I said I’ve never tried it. I’d post that question over on one of the forums. I’m sure someone there knows.

Hey Jeff. I believe the only limitation with setting this up on the WS6 would be that you're limited to only one notch. In that case, you could just skip the nickel notch, and notch from 7-87.

I wish people would explain WHY they use a particular discrimination setting. WHY did you bump it from 6.8 to 7? Thanks. This is quite similar to a program that I came up with, only my base was the Relic preset. I used it because I believe that it (and gold) are a bit deeper than the others, and with the severe notching that I applied, the single proximity tone that it uses works fine. I found a lot of silver using that method, but I will be trying yours as well. To write it down for those that don't want to sit through a video: Base Program : Fast Raise discrimination from 6.8 to 7 Raise Bottlecaps to 5 Clear the current notch and add two new ones: (1) 7-59 and (2) 65-87 (leaves a notch for nickels) Iron volume: 4 Reactivity: reduce to 1.5 for added depth Audio response: Raise to 5 Sensitivity, as high as your site allows. Everything else, leave as it was.

Hi trolltaker. I did mention the reason I raised it from 6.8 to 7. It’s just to make it a nice even number, since my first notch starts at 7. Fine tuning a disc setting doesn’t matter too much anyway with all the notch we’re using here. Good luck and HH!

Tried your program in a very old park. Wasn’t having much luck. Noticed my brother that was using a equinox with 15 inch coil was pulling old silver out at 10 inches plus. So I switched over to deep HC and notched out everything up to 87. In no time I started hitting deep HC targets. Pulled a merq., standing Liberty, 1865 2 cent and 3 wheats. All targets was 9-12 inches deep. I’m not saying your program isn’t a great silver program. I was just wondering do you have any special settings you would use in a deep HC program where it seems all the targets that others have missed seem to be super deep. Thanks
@MetalDetectingNWGA
@MetalDetectingNWGA Жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin, the standard Silver Slayer setting are sort of a compromise between speed and depth. If you’re hunting a spot where coins are running super deep and the ground isn’t extremely contaminated, you can drop the reactivity down to 0 or 0.5 and hit coins down to 10” (check out my video: deep coins with Silver Slayer). If coins are running even deeper than that, I’d definitely use the Deep HC program. For extra depth in Deep HC, the same tricks apply. Lower reactivity and sensitivity as high as conditions allow. Good luck!
@kevinmccrory2347
@kevinmccrory2347 Жыл бұрын
@@MetalDetectingNWGA what about any of the other settings in deep HC? Is there anything else you would change. I think the only reason we are hitting these old coins is because they are so deep. There was no modern silver from the 40’s to 60’s. Once deep HC stops producing I’m going to switch to your fast silver slayer program. Just trying to figure out the perfect setting in Deep HC. Got a lot of ground to cover. Thanks
@MetalDetectingNWGA

@@kevinmccrory2347 Generally for all out depth you’ll want to minimize the filters you run. A lower bottlecap rejection, lower silencer and as little discrimination as you can stand. Those may let you hear slightly deeper targets, but they effect separation and blended signals more than anything else. If you turn off all of the filters, you’d basically be giving up all of the benefits of a modern detector in exchange for a very slight increase in depth. The settings that will increase depth the most are reactivity and sensitivity. Set up the tones however you like. Run enough discrimination to eliminate only the troublesome targets. Run your reactivity at 0 or 0.5 and swing slow. Run the sensitivity as high as you can while keeping the detector stable. If you have trouble hearing the faint deep targets, bump up the audio response a little. That should get you the max depth out of any of its programs.

@@MetalDetectingNWGA what about notch? Would you open the program up or keep using notch to block out most the trash?
@MetalDetectingNWGA
@MetalDetectingNWGA Жыл бұрын
@@kevinmccrory2347 Notch isn’t going to have a big impact on depth, but running less notch will allow you to hear those deeper coins that may be blended with iron content or hampered by mineralization. For example, a 7” silver dime may read 92 on the meter. But on deeper targets the ground signal starts to consume the good target, so that same dime may read 87. Same thing if that dime happens to be near a nail. It’ll give you a blended lower ID. If the spot has a lot of trash, you might want to try notching up to 83 or so. You’ll still dig some trash but should get most silver coins too.

It's a trade off: Time spent detecting vs good targets dug. This program is designed to let you quickly snatch up the common silver that reads in the copper penny range and up.

I would imagine so, that’s what it’s made for. But that program will NOT find coins on edge like this one will!
