Gary super video as usual, thanks for your help. Here’s my take on using custom settings…. The preset settings are good for unseasoned detectorists. However,,, They have to be tweaked to achieve the best results from Deus II. Low reactivity is massively misinterpreted , I’m convinced that higher levels will fill your find pouch quicker than lower levels. Often achieving more depth than lower settings of reactivity. Audio response set around 3 or 4 , massively helps to keep the Deus II more stable, whilst still being able to hear those wispy quiet signals. Go too high on this just appears to amplify false signals. Bottle cap reject, never go above level 3, a setting of 4 or 5 will reject a mixed group of nonferrous targets, ie, a purse spill or even a hoard of various items, (with no ferrous items present) Silencer, any above a setting of 1 will greatly reduce the unmasking around a ferrous item. I love my Deus II, but it certainly needs to be tweaked to get any sort of perfection for my detecting needs in consideration what I paid for this detector. (Running V7:1) Thanks.

I never really saw any sense in stuffing your machine with somebody else’s settings unless you hunt the same places. There are so many variations that are different as far as soil conditions,trashiness etc… I shared a program that was killer for me where I hunt with someone and when they tried it were they were they got so angry at me telling me I didn’t know what I was doing blah blah blah etc. etc. and I told them on the onset it may not work where you are so why bother? But they had to have it so I gave him the settings. XP simplifies things for you by giving you dynamite programs to hunt just about anywhere you live in the world and I don’t see complicating things with programs from people that may or may not know what they’re doing. Lol thanks for another video Gary I always look forward to them.~Paul

Your videos are awesome! You’re a great talker, very clear,concise and have an accent that’s not irritating. I’m waiting for my Deus 2 and trying to learn as much as I can about this machine before I get It. Anyway I read the instructions manual twice and got really confused, thanks for your time and effort making these videos. I’m a little retarded so learning this machine would be near impossible without videos like this. I’ve spent about ten years behind an Excalibur, so I know little to nothing about all this new vocabulary. After I learn this machine, I’m going to go for my helicopter license, should be a breeze after this.

Fantastic video Gary. Thank you for reminding me to not use other peoples programs outright. I am finding that out the hard way. In high iron mineralization like I often hunt in the Sensitive and Sensitive FT programs are doing really well (reflected in the manual's description for those modes)......I just immediately went to the Fast program in the beginning and some custom programs from other people based on it and found out pretty quickly that it is not nearly as effective as the Sensitive programs where I hunt. Speaking of Deus 2 Goldfield. Being a gold prospector, it is the only thing about Deus 2 that has been a real disappointment. Deus 2 Goldfield and Relic modes are great for hitting really deep targets IF they have some size. Deus 2 Goldfield no matter how I try to tweak it, is not great for the .25 gram and smaller gold nuggets that I often need a small, lightweight, easily packable VLF gold prospecting detector for. Deus 1 and the ORX even using 31 kHz are far more sensitive to that size range of small gold nuggets than Deus 2 and that statement is from experience and field testing.....I am not just making it up. Does XP know about this substantial loss of performance on smaller gold nuggets using Deus 2 Goldfield compared to Deus 1 Goldfield and the ORX gold modes? thanks

@@The-skillschool Thanks Gary. I have basically resorted to using the Deus 2 Mono program and setting it up as close as I can to the original Deus GoldField program by setting Deus 2 Mono to Disc. at -6.4, Pitch Tones PWM, Notch OFF, Silencer 0, Sensitivity 95, Frequency 40 to 45.5 kHz, Iron Volume...optional, Reactivity 2 to 3 depending on mineralization, Audio Response 3 to 4 depending on mineralization, Threshold 0-8 or enough to smooth out the background noise if there is any. An easy test is to take a #7 lead shotgun pellet and flatten it a bit. Most #7s weigh between .07 and .1 gram which are a very common nugget size in the Western USA. Original Deus Goldfield with HF coils and Deus 2 Mono using the 9" coil have similar results in air tests which for me are around 3 inches. Deus 2 Goldfield at best on the same target is 1.5 inches if there is no EMI in the area of the test....... I didn't think I would have a use for the Deus 2 Mono program. I sure am glad XP included it!! Hopefully there is an easy fix for this Deus 2 FMF Goldfield sensitivity weakness.

Well done Gary. It would also be a better understanding if XP, on their updates, would give a summary of the subtle changes they are making. Doesn't have to be detailed, just enough to get us back out there and try the new features and learn them. There is a quite a bit of noise out there, as people just think the changes are so grave, it gives the impression XP made it worse. I do not buy into all the hearsay, a few I watch, including yourself, I really like V.071 and anticipate updates as finding the hidden gems in them, is as fun as finding targets in the dirt.

@harrysurtees8710
@harrysurtees8710 2 жыл бұрын
@@jobloggs9979 You are right. I struggled from the start putting on and taking off the control box. It is hard to find the port where the charging cable attaches to the control box so I keep taking the control box off and that made it a lot easier. When putting the control box back on it has to go on with just the right angle. I was heavy handed when trying to slide it back on. BUT, I must not be the only person, because I found a web site where the shoe that holds the control box can be purchased. One that is made stronger, so that tells me, I am not the only one with this problem. I read where some guy attached a teather so when his control box came off, it didn't hit the ground. Two days ago, my control box fell off and I didn't know it. I then hit a target, and when I looked for the control box to see what the numbers were it was gone. I had to back-track for a hundred feet or so until I found it. What if I were in the water?
