Here I make a camping cooking disc. These are also called a discada, cowboy wok and skottle to name a few. I use my plasma cutter and show you how to cut perfect circles in steel and take you through my thought process in designing and using the disc. At the end we will cook up some taco meat and go over cleaning the disc.
Disc similar to mine: amzn.to/3fKFAXu
Pre made burner unit: amzn.to/2Ox8m1U
Tembo Tusk Skottle disc: amzn.to/2Ce0dwR
Oris cooking disc: amzn.to/2CergIs
Hypertherm Plasma Cutter: amzn.to/2vQLfsZ
Vulcan Welder: amzn.to/39Wa4CB:
Makita 4" Grinder: amzn.to/32hVd2F
Wok Spatula: amzn.to/2HLl0H9
Domed Lid: amzn.to/38SyZHc
Wooden Spatula: amzn.to/2Ta7O3I
Round cooking grate: amzn.to/2VbiC4f
Iron wok trivet: amzn.to/3hIsJ8D

Not bad. I used a much smaller version of this on my motorcycle and bicycle camping trips. Remember - Hot pan, cold oil (fat/grease) and the food won't stick. Looks like you've got that pretty well figured out. Your campground neighbors will probably think you're ringing the dinner bell.

Great video. Thorough and helpful explanation and nice workmanship. I'm going to try to make one of these soon myself. This is a nice, simple and versatile set up, since you can use it with a discada or still just use the burner for any frying pan or a coffee pot. Also a nice touch painting the legs orange as a gesture to your father.

Love your video's Steve. Have been watching from a distance for a long time. Looking at the final design, i agree that the 10 inch angle may have been better but, it's still pretty darn neat. I was also glad to hear you mention your dad in this video because the long delay between the video of your dad's garage and the next one after that got felt nostalgic certain way and it got me wondering. Hope all continues to be well with you and your dad (and family) in these strange times we find ourselves in. Be safe. Ken, from the Travelling Wildberries...

Steve, you are both an artist and an engineer, with an incredible selection of tools. You are blessed. I can't do what you do, but it inspires me to knock something together, to come up with similar solution to the problem. Mine will look crude but be functional. I have the Coleman version of your single burner. It bothers me when I put a pot of water or large pan on it. Afraid it will fall over. I can do this with your inspiration. Thanks.

interesting you mentioned del taco and taco bell. they cook their ground beef on a griddle, low quality meat (they need higher fat content for more grease), some taco seasoning and a 1/4 to 1/3 as much oatmeal to thin out the meat. when cooked in to the meat takes on the color and taste of the meat and seasoning.

Taco Bell used to make their taco meat fresh when I worked there many years ago. Pretty sure they still do. It's cheaper that way.
