Thanks for the in-depth review, i just bought the 16 pro 2 gen but i couldn't find to many good review so i opted to watch this one for the 14 pro 2nd gen that should be just a bit smaller but same tech. I didn't know much about xp-pen bit i wanted to give a shot, seems to be very good for the price. I m looking forward to get the delivery

Great video! Since they're currently around the same price, would you say the 16-inch version of the Gen 2 is worth getting over the 16TP that you reviewed a while back?

Are you using the default (linear) pressure curve in the driver? I've found it a bit hard compared to other tablets. Imo too much pressure needed to reach even 10000 level (not to mention max 16000).

I apologize if you said this, I was listening while working. Anyway, how is the IAF (initial activation force)? So far, I've not found anything as good as a cintiq pro.

No…no touch on this one. If you want touch, use the Xp Pen 16 pro TP.

Thank you for the review, I am looking for a pen display and have been considering either the XP Pen Artist Pro 16 or Pro 14 (2nd gen) to use with my desktop PC (Ryzen 7 3700x, 32GB Ram, RTX 3080). I currently have my Asus Zenbook Pro 15 Flip (i7 12th Gen, 16GB Ram) which I am using while learning digital art, but there is a noticeable pen lag in photoshop (even after adjusting brush smoothing to 0 and other details to reduce it), could I ask if you noticed any definitive pan lag with pen displays or the Artist Pro 14 (2nd gen) in this case? TLDR Would getting this pen tablet and using it with my desktop eliminate the pen lag compared to directly using my 2in1 laptop?

No pen lag for me. Try turning off your cloud sync…that helps. Also…boost your ram allocation in Photoshop. Cheers! M

不要用最新版的Photoshop（24.7.0），换24.0.0的版本试试，最新版的几个版本会有笔刷延迟。

I’m watching the video right now and I’m really enjoying it. I’m thinking of getting this tablet but the 16 version (from my understanding it’s only the size that differs). I usually paint with traditional mediums but I feel like I want to venture into digital as well. It will be my second tablet. I had one when I was a young kid but it was one of those small tablets without a screen. I believe it was a small Wacom bamboo tablet. Haven’t used it for over 15years though. I’m also looking into getting a new laptop later this year (my current one doesn’t have a working keyboard and needs to be powered all the time in order for it to work). Do you have anything to recommend? Maybe some options that are worth looking into? I know a lot of people really like MacBooks but I feel like it’s a bit out of my budget at the moment. Apple products are pretty expensive where I live.

Cool! This display tablet is a winner. As far as laptops go…look at the Samsung Galaxy book 3 360. You can get one refurbished for a reasonable price. The Galaxy book 2 360 is also a winner. Look on the apple website in the refurbished section. Couple hundred off and it is still new with Apple warranty. You can always look at Microsoft surface pro. They are also great. @@MichaelClaridaArts Thanks! I will look into those suggestions! I heard about the Apple refurbished section but I can’t seem to find it so I assume that they don’t offer that option where I live. It’s always more interesting to watch an artist review tech as they have another perspective on things.

@@MichaelClaridaArts thanks but since it’s the american site it comes with the american keyboard which means I won’t be able to write in my own language 😅 but it would probably work if I where looking to a computer and not a laptop.

Were there any difficulties for you with the type-c usb cables/cable set-up or graphic display? I've recently bought one of these and haven't been able to get the graphic display to work.

Are you sure your USB c port supports video? Some USB c ports are data only, no video.

@@ran4829 If you want to use USB-C to HDMI adapter, you still need to make sure the USB-C port is full-featured. If the USB-C is data only, then with USB-C to HDMI adapter and 3-in-1 cable to connect to the computer, then you may still get the "No Signal" issue.

I have a question, maybe someone can answer: Is the glove requierd to paint when the hand touches the display to avoid the display reacting to the hand or is it just to reduce friction and the display detects anyways that a hand is just a hand and the hand doesnt cause a mess? I ask because i think about buying a quality grafic tablet for my daugher (primary school child) that loves painting for birthday (we drown in paper from all the painting...). Obviosuly, the glove wouldnt fit. If basically using a glove would be required to propperly use the tablet, it would be an issue. Thanks a lot Patrick

The glove is for a few reasons. First…helps glide the hand on the surface. Second…finger prints. Third…aids in palm rejection and false positives. Not required to have it work…but it helps. No device is immune to false positives…not a tablet…nor touch pc. Some are better than others…but the glove helps. You don’t need a fancy branded glove. As long as it is a non scratchy fabric…you can make your own. But it is nice that XPpen includes it:) M

Thank you for your review. I wish the line test was more accurate and smoothing was at 0% during the line test. Also it would have been good to show quick line hashing to see how the lines taper and if there are any issues at the beginning of the lines. I want to cover more use cases for my purchase so that's why I care for these aspects.

Probably but you don’t get a job in the art field based on where or if you have a degree. Art jobs are not like engineering or medical jobs. You don’t need to have a piece of paper to get hired. It will always be your work that stands out. What no you have done and the ability to show and talk about it will get you hired. Do degrees help? I guess for structural guidance and giving you a base in art. I have never had one company ask me where I went to school. It is the work…plain and simple.

There's a reason why I don't trust Brad's review on this tablet. The man kept advertising how pressure levels don't matter, but when you look at his art, he ain't using subtle soft shadings... it's all hard cel shading.

This really was a great tablet. I also watched Brads review. Good…but I always want to dive deep to reveal what the tablet has to offer. The subtle shading is really epic. I was floored. Nice tablet. M

He doesn't say Pressure doesn't matter ,he said when you get over 6000 levels of preasure its very difficult to tell the difference and the vast majority of ppl wont be sble to tell the difference between 6000 levels and 16000 levels And yes you're 100% correct his art involves alot of very heavy lines which means he will miss the subtleties of having high levels of pressure sensitivities

@@86lanzo yea…I used a tablet with 248 levels of pressure for years. The pressure curve is a great marketing tool like the mega pixel number. Higher is better right? But there are so many variables..computer speed, pressure settings, operating system, painting and drawing method, ram, bonded vs unbonded screen, brush type…etc. The method Brad uses is just as good as mine to determine sensitivity and overall drawing experience. This tablet has a nuance that is brought out in light sketching. It also has more of a natural feel that is hard to show in video. I always like to dive a bit deeper to see and compare and contrast this experience with the others I have had. This tablet is good…but so was my Wacom Bamboo with 248 levels of pressure. All about the package…with pressure being one of the factors. This is why I try to give a bigger picture test and not just a simple line test. I want a piece of tech that disappears into the creative. Basically…does not inhibit my drawing experience and output. Ultimate drawing experience is a real pencil on paper… and I have not found anything that compares to that:) M

This was my surface laptop studio. i5 16gb of ram…10th gen processor.The Mac mini is about twice as fast as the Surface. M

no...I always calibrate the pressure to my taste. I always feel that the default is a bit heavy. I taper it back a bit, M

Why is the dongle it's own bit of kit? They should just build the receiver into the tablet. The tablet has to have a data connection to the PC anyway. It's poor design/engineering choice on their part to not integrate it. However, I really prefer to have actual quick keys integrated into the tablet itself anyway, as it makes holding the tablet a more viable option. If I have to sit at a desk, I can just use my keyboard for hot key action.

I do agree that it should be integrated. I use both quick keys as well as the remote. Maybe they just want to sell the remote as a stand alone as well. Plus…I can transfer the remote to be used on my surface, my Dell, my Samsung. It works for me either way.
