First of all no one is forcing anyone to do anything it is a free update, where it was previously announced that all loot boxes were going to be open before the launch of ow2 as they are going to use another method of monetization where loot boxes will no longer be included in the game. (And I repeat… it is a free update! Ow1 will become Ow2 in a free to play model)

Don’t know if you heard but some country have forbidden the loot boxes and loteries systems in game, so now they had to remove them Also as at every level you gain, you got a new box, no one would purchase money or boxes

Playing arcade mode and getting 9 wins for the lootboxes, GRINDING season based PvE events with friends, Doing insano mathematics to figure out if you'll be able to get enough credits to buy that cool season locked skin for your main in time before the event ends…All part of the fun, and all gone. Those mechanics don’t exist in Overwatch 2. Now you just put your credit card in and throw money at them. 2022 "Gaming"... Despair.

@@peacefindersimply5001 I think it's because Overwatch was a game that didn't have this system and now is moving toward it. Had Overwatch launched this way I don't think people would care as much. If you played Overwatch a decent amount you could get pretty much any skin you wanted with little effort outside of the occasional paid ones, but now that's not a thing, and people aren't going to like it. Is it the worse thing in the world? Of course not.

atleast they opened them, i used to collect rocket league crates from a set that got deleted from the game and then epic games bought the game and removed crates. i spent some money trading for those crates and they just deleted all of them from my inventory

What you got in a lootbox was already decided as soon as you got it. So holding on to them did nothing but get your lootbox number up. As far as why they did this OW2 will not have lootboxes so they just credited you with everything you had so you can spend your points before OW2 comes out.

...He did know. Do you understand what playing it up for the camera even is? Did this man even look remotely distressed about it? I mean cmon...he's not even a good actor lmao...X is one of the easiest people to see through. He keeps up to date with OW shit of COURSE he knew boxes were being deleted. He's fucking done streams where he's MENTIONED IT himself while reading over dev logs/notes etc. This is why some people could never be a content creator and why it's not as easy as people think it is lol. Some people lack the most vital part of being an entertainer, which is being a good actor and knowing how to improve and play into certain situations to increase audience interaction.

Game would die. Not as many people as you think want loot boxes back. Large majority are celebrating loot boxes finally being taken out of something. Just because they fed you a trash new system instead of actually making a GOOD system that didn't require gambling doesn't mean the old system was good in any way shape or form. They could've easily made this system rewarding and fair even without the boxes. They could've still rewarded people via a leveling system for any skin they wanted (just require a large grind for it but NOT 32 weeks) and this system would be fine. People only complaining because now when they level they get nothing. And honestly they've probably made a lot more money from this model then lootboxes. So odds of them going back are nearly zero.

I always collect loot boxes etc and never open them, unsure why exactly but I always have. Same goes for League and CS etc. I have 3-4 years worth of unopened capsules and orbs in league. I'd be pissed if they opened all mine :P
