I prefer the XR, here's why: i dont use the back portrait mode often, i usually do selfies for insta snap and twitter with the front camera, i take a lot of photos a night with indoors lights, so the XR is perfect cause it brings more light in the photo. My only uses of the back camera is for photos in front of my big mirror, and filming youtube videos and tik tok videos, often in low lighting conditions, wich is where the XR is the best. I dont need 2 or 3 cameras in the back of my phone just so i can zoom x10. I think the xr is more for the consumers that uses social medias a lot, and take a lot of selfies in bad lighting conditions, for a decent price. While the XS (max) is kinda better if you want to experiment good phone photography, but honestly if you want to do photography youd better buy an XR, save 300-400$ and buy a dslr or any decent photography devices

It's not just the 2x lens, it's some secret internals. The XR image gets really ugly with the slightest zoom, while even the 7-plus images are very superior.

Honestly portrait mode is not a huge deal to me. I mostly use my rear phone camera for snapping landscape photos, taking group pics of family(wide angle, no portrait), and filming skateboarding stuff for Instagram. Really for me the biggest downfall of the XR is the screen

I kept my X but still upgraded to the XR. The camera is phenomenal, IMO. I don’t take portraits on objects, anyway. I love the bigger size, too. I just didn’t want a humongous phone like the Max. The XR is the perfect size. Also, I can go all day without having to charge it, which is insane. Never had an iPhone with such a great battery as this one. I love it.

Did a comparison with the xr and xs max myself. Both cameras are literally the same with the exception of the portrait mode which i actually prefer on the xr in some cases. 10x zoom and object portrait mode is the only difference

I Find from comparison that the XR has a very nice camera and yes the MAX has a higher zoom and a tad bit more clairty on some pics. I found that in this video 95% percent of the XR photos were stellar. Its too bad we buying cameras instead of phones...lol...The XR is missing that 3D feature, other than that its snapier and quicker than my IPHONE 8Plus. Bobby Wood, I saw that water bottle pic to and it was much more clearer on the XR!!

I have the iPhone XR and to be honest I love it mostly because the iPhone XR is bigger than the x and xs but smaller than the xs max so that being that the iPhone XR’s screen and size is right in the middle of the phone sizes it make is perfect also the camera on the xr is fine plus who needs to zoom in so far iPhones cameras are good enough for zooming in after you take the picture I sit in the back of the class in school and I use my phone to take photos of the screen so I can see it and copy down what I need to so what do you have to say about that also the iPhone XR lacks the black portrait on front facing but who does that if your using portrait mode with the front facing camera your probably trying to get yourself in it but want a pretty blurred out background and saying that it still has black portrait. Mode on the selfie camera that’s all you are probably gonna use for because why would you take a photo of yourself with portrait mode on the front facing camera without hacking a background in like what so I’m right your wrong so take your KZfaq money go switch back to the xr and quit doing videos like that’s because you need the money and likes so yeah I’m right your wrong try studying stuff more before doing an actual video because the iPhone XR is amazing and I would know because I have one

DAMN IT, I love my XR iPhone but the xs max iPhone would of helped so much for my Ariana grande concert with the 3xs more of a Zoom 😅 damn it but it’s all good the iPhone XR still picks up concert volume super well! I wish I would of know more about the xs camera features. I kept asking the cell phone rep but they didn’t even really know anything

The Xr can actually take portrait photos of objects as well. Though, using a 3rd party app. I wished Xs's secondary camera was using the same lens as the main one. The low light performance is not that good but at least the beautiful bokeh makes up for it.

I have the XR, and I love it! I don't think it's worth the extra money for a better camera. Even though the quality and detail is different when zoomed in, it's still pretty darn good. I can from the iPhone 7 with a damaged camera, so massive upgrade :) Also the iPhone 8 has portrait mode, too.

This is why I thought the XR isn't worth upgrading from a 8plus or 7plus. You lose the telephoto lens. I actually expect them to come out with a XIR/11R next year with a smaller screen (a regular size screen with notch and faceId) and a the current Plus size.

You don't know what you're talking about. The so-called lens distortion is a result of the distance from the object. These are high-quality lenses.They don't have optical distortion. Please research more and post a correction to this video for your viewers.

If the photo quality for both XR and XS are the same, what for Tim Cook introduce a >$1000 bucks phone? Everyone will go for the cheapest one. Apple will surely draw a significant diff btw the cheapest XR and the expensive XS devices. - XR is still stucks in 720p LCD - XR is bulky, thicked bezels. - XR is only one camera lens, potrait mode is software based and only detect human object.

Get a real camera. For less than the price of a XS Max you can get any number of pocketable cameras that blow ANY smartphone camera away (Sony RX-100 III, for instance). I have an XR and am very happy with it. Anyone who spends $1100+ on a phone either has more money than they know what to do with or has a screw loose. It pained me to pay $800 for the XR but my 5 was getting pretty long in the tooth. I only use it as a toy for taking quick snaps. Anything else I use a real camera.

of course you don't take a headshot with the XR, you take full body shots, like the leica 21mm f1.4 or nikkor 24mm f1.4, who takes a headshot with those lenses? monocle magazine if full of full body photos, with environmental blur, personally I suspect those are taken with 35mm f1.4. another thing of course f1.4 on wideangle has lower background blur than 1.4 on standard 50mm. the 35mm 1.4 will not look 50mm 1.4, unless of course it's a 35mm 1.2 or 0.95. This is why apple mentioned they studied lens characteristic, can they have pushed for further blur in software, of course, if the slider on the XR goes to 0.8. Then they have to explain why XR has 0.8 and XS has only 1.4 while both have similar looking background blur.
