SUGA said: "the lyrics for Tear were written for the members. When I was writing the melody, at the time, we were deeply contemplating whether we should quit or not. When I played the song for the members we all cried together". Also RM is saying "Tear" as in crying and SUGA as in ripping something apart.

From memory, I believe we first heard Suga say this in the Break the Silence docuseries which released last year. I think it was the only time he mentioned it 🤔 I am glad I am able to appreciate the lyrics/meaning before we found out about this. Because no matter what inspired the melody or a BTS song, the guys made music for us to reflect on and for it to speak to us. That’s why I don’t usually tell people spoilers/tidbits until after they listen to the song and see what they got from it. That’s just me :) I want to appreciate something and not be given too much spoilers.

I honestly think one of the most raw and real moments BTS ever shared publicly was the 2018 MAMA speech, where they spoke about wanting to break up, and all the members were on stage crying. I still cant watch that video without crying.

Suga has mentioned that this song was written at a time when BTS was considering quitting BTS (not renewing their contract) and the pain he felt thinking about not having BTS anymore. He mentioned that when other members heard the song they all cried.

One TMI about this song is that Namjoon in one live he said that the word "Tear" really have 2 meanings: If you pay really attention in the pronounce when yoongi and hoseok said "you're my tear", one meaning is literally the tears falling of your eyes and the other "tear" means like a sound of the break of paper, when someone ripped a piece of paper sounds like that... And yes, this song is so heartbreaking after knowing the real meaning

Love your wrap-up talk about all things coming to an end. Another reason why I love BTS - it's a rare band that is honest enough to pour their deepest fears into their music. Fleetwood Mac talked about their relationship breakups, too, but who talks about the entire band breaking up in their songs (TEAR)? Or that they're afraid of losing their love for their craft (BLACK SWAN)? Or knowing that someday the applause will fade and they might still want to hang onto their dream (YOUNG FOREVER)?

I FRIGGIN RELATE with the gym thing lol I be running on the treadmill having cramps and sweating profusely but then they go "DASHI RUN RUN RUN" or if I hear J-Hope or Yoongi aggressively rapping its like a motivation to keep going. I also relate with the kpop only thing. I loved music but now I REALLY love it because of the crazy diversity in sounds and bangers that just get me going through life in a more fun and crazy way. Kpop helped me see things more positively too. I was arrogant to being open to rap but now I love some of it and can appreciate it for what it is. Thank you for your sincere reaction and backstory ^^ you are now my favorite reactor youtuber. (Also you're really funny lol)

This reactions illustrates the paradoxical experience ARMYs had after realizing the song was written abt the group almost disbanding. Like, the song is a certified bop and it makes you wanna get hype n shake some 🍑 BUT then you pay attention to the lyrics and want to cry bc they’re over here talking abt destroying each other mercilessly 😭😭 I’m convinced there is no greater juxtaposition than the song “Outro:Tear” 😂😂

The 3 rappers emotions we can feel it. 3 of them wrote it this song. Suga wrote his verse first and then RM and Jhope wrote it. Its co- produced by themselves

I think he’s partly talking about himself as a person and partly his job and his image as an idol. They weren’t angry at each other when they wrote this, they were just really struggling with all the fame and pressure and it was hard for them to remain happy.

This song is even deeper than it seems. I really appreciate how you pay so much attention to EVERYTHING. And you just don't take it seriously, you like it too, and music is just for that. At the beginning of 2018 they struggled really hard with the intense pressure of suddenly being far more famous than they could ever have dreamed of. Some members thought they should disband. The lyrics talk about how hurt the other members were. In the end they decided to just focus on taking care of each other and staying true to themselves.

i’ve loved this song since it released but i’m only now noticing when hobi says “the moment the words left your lips, our focus becomes irregular” - like damn. that shit hit me because anyone who has ever been in love knows you can go so long trying to fix something but the moment someone wants to quit, it feels like the world is ending. you don’t even know what to say sometimes so you say the worst things possible. it’s so hard to explain, i just know i felt that. lol

Someone else might have said this already but if you peep the themes of each of their verses, “tear” takes on 2 meanings in this song: RM discusses the tears he shed during this time alongside his regret and disappointment (so during the chorus he sings “you’re my tear 😢”) Suga talks abt rather having his heart ripped to shred and set aflame than having to experience the heartbreak and betrayal of the members disbanding (so during the chorus he sings “you’re my tear- as in to tear something apart- 💔” And Hobi’s verse obviously focuses on the fear and anxiety he felt during that tumultuous time (and a fear that he’ll continue to experience such painful “partings” in the future)

LY Tear is one of the most beautifully written lyrics out there. This is legit a story of BTS, the BTS who started getting bigger that what they really wanted at first. The story of worries, confusion, doubts and how they worked things out

you should see bts' mama 2018 speech of them winning daesang. Their disbandment was brought up there, it was really an emotional one. Tae broke down when it was mentioned, hobi... oh i wouldn't go in there,,, everyone was basically in tears. This speech is really special to me, to us, it just showed that bts are humans and this speech showed their raw emotions as artists, as humans.

This song hits different live, they pour their feelings while their preform. The ending part when J-Hope raps is breathtaking, if they perform this song live ever again, all ARMY would be in TEARs. The song also resonates with any breakup, their songs are in another level.

Just found your channel and I had to check out your reaction because of Outro Tear. This song is in my Top 3 faves of all BTS' songs. It's just too emotional, it really hits different. And I cry, I get teary each time I hear this song. The rapline here is in another level. IThis song is precious though I'm sad that they had to go through sad, tearing times for them to come up with this song but at the same time really really happy that they are still solid and strong up to now. As much as the rapline is fire here.. you too are! ♥

YESSSSSS I WAS JUST LISTENING TO THIS SONG!! I was literally thinking this might be my fav rap line song out there…. It’s ✨ImMaCuLaTe✨ and it’s been a minute since I’ve heard a BTS song AND your reactions, so the fact that it happened in one day was definitely a miracle. actually that time was when their 7 years contract is almost come to the end. That's why they discussed a lot about continuing or disbanding. I can tell a part of their mind want all of this to the end . But the love they have on us ,ARMY and the music is so big that they are willing to have that pain.

Everyone has given you the backing info, I see. Always late to the party, that's me ha! This is my favorite rap line song. The emotion, the beauty of the music behind it (Min Yoongi KILLED IT), the lyrics, it all adds up to a masterpiece of a song. I, too, beg you to watch the Wembly performance, it is an example of art so beautiful it breaks you. ps. your hair and fit today is dope, really awesome. I hope that is ok to say. OK. I just stumbled on you. You just popped up. I love you do research.... so many just assume what the meaning is but with BTS is so many layers and in some it follows their universe and the ir story line. It's not always what it seems. THANK YOU I will share you with my ARMY friends

To give a little context: (Paraphrasing from RM said in his vlive album review) LY is a whole series about realisation that kinda has a theme of fall in love, realise that you’re not being yourself in the relationship, breaking up and realising that in order to be in a working relationship you need to be ablt to love yourself. Tear - is the breakup song. So the rapline is saying what break up would mean to them. Namjoon - tear (from your eyes) Yoongi- tear (as in to tear paper) Hobi - fear To add: The emotional delivery seems to come from a time when they contemplated a disbandment of BTS - ultimately they decided to stay together

Omg the live performance of this, after we found out how it came to be, hit so damn hard. Army and BTS both get so emotional when they perform this. It hits different.

Outro: Tear is by far my favorite rap line song. It is so emotional. I get chills and get choked up watching them perform it. And Suga admitting the lyrics were written while they were considering disbanding. Ughhhh. Right to the heart.

This song is one of my all time favorites. Yes, K Pop is on another level. I'm like you I literally don't listen to western music anymore. BTS music just fills me up, makes me feel so good😁💜

Omg I can totally relate with your reaction to this song. You should watch their live performance of this during their tour. It's fire!!!! It's unbelievable. Each of them wrecked this song. The passion and the delivery is unmatchable no matter how many times they perform this.

I loved your reaction, and completely agree. And I hope all Army can as well. We all know that deep down that the boys want to stay together and make music for a long time, but the reality of it is.. it's a lot.. just like you said. And I hope everyone will be able to support the boys decision in whatever they decide to do in the future.. and that goes as far as the military as well. I just hope everyone will be there to support them as they should be! Thank you for this reaction/ review, looking forward to next BTS video.. 💜
