A lot of what you say about Romancing SaGa 3 can be said of just about any SaGa game.

I know it won't happen but I hope they add some of the cut content and such back into the game for the port.

Agreed! Seems like a lot that was planned for the original game had to be scrapped so this would be awesome to see.

Actually very happy the 2 games are getting re-mastered for the PS4 as I never played them but did hear about them thru other friends.

I remember when I first heard about the Romancing Saga 2 mobile port, I was playing Romancing Saga 2 on emulator on my phone lol

I came because I learned this game is releases on the Switch remastered ver. I never even played or heard about this game when I was young because their other games like Chrono Trigger & FF3 on the SNES overshadow news about what other games where around. So I was always playing them games. Now last night after I saw the trailer to this game of the remaster I was like omg FF3 100% & was like yup I need to play it now. Part 2 I don't know if I will get it since it does look out of place but I'll wait until it's more down on price before picking it up. Anyway great review bruh!

I also just realized, new game + can be done any point in the game =O. This is probably the fastest way to get max out on everything.

I never played the first 3 saga games (final fantasy titled ones) or any of the Romancing Saga games. I have only ever played Saga Frontier 1 and 2. I'm thinking about getting Romancing Saga 2 and 3 on the Switch as they do look quite cool

There are 2 very good hack version for this game: the AAB version which finished in 2013 and bokuno version which is still under updating. They both add tons of events, skills, controllab characters and enemies as well as tweak the balance of all most every aspects of this game. This game is amazing but suffering from unfinished contents and lacking of polishing, but these two hack offered by fans are more than enough to completing it.

I usually prefer playing the original SNES versions over the cheap remasters Square likes to pump out, but in this case I'd say, go with the remaster on PC. The original Japanese game is already pretty unpolished, and the best translation patch out there is not entirely complete, has some technical issues (font, etc.) and the translation job itself isn't all that great honestly. I will also admit that I'm just not a massive fan of any of the Romancing games. I appreciate what they were going for with the non-linear style, but they just never managed to pull it off all that well. In fact I'd argue there aren't any good examples of JRPGs that have well implemented non-linear styles from this era, unless there's one I can't recall right now. And the leveling system is just a huge pain. However I DO kind of like Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song for the PS2. I can't quite explain why I enjoyed that one more (since its a remake of RS1), but that's just how it is :)

I tried multiple times to get into this game but I hated its interface and the fact it's so cryptic and non player friendly. I love non-linear JRPGs but this game just required too much time to be invested simply to understand how the game works.

Wait... the death eclipse wipes out everyone on the planet except for one person. 10 years later people.. yes I repeat people are waiting to find out if the only survivor becomes a devil king or a holy king. Where did these people come from. How is it possible that there are people there ten years after everyone on the planet was wiped out?

Its only the newborns that are wiped out, anything more then a year old (or something like that) is safe.

The soundtrack was definitely my favorite part of Romancing SaGa 3. My favorite theme is the Final Boss theme. The mood fits so perfectly and I feel as it never gets old. I’m so excited for the remake. It is a shame this didn’t get released outside of Japan back in 1995. It deserved to be released in the West over Chrono Trigger. That game is overrated and too easy.
