I wrote a poem that is heavily inspired by Rory an Jess’ relationship. A Certain Romance Looks like she still lords summat over him; like he remembers her risky ringlets on the linen as some light silver lining, aligning lies and vulgar bribes to bring him myriads of mayhem that just may be her. Dreams of when she learned that ‘last laugh lane’ line, or of when she lost her poise after that pretentious toast, and kindly suggested to those knuckleheads to add kool acid syrup and a carbon candle to their capitalism cake. She used to always have rebukes for all his off-kilter cigarettes, but in something they agreed: how could someone eat their ice cream with a spoon? There wasn’t anything for them like the oral history of punk, so obviously they needed cones, to eat their ‘Guns of Brixton’ love that looked a lot like broken björk with the rawest side of coffee. And for all his gelled defensiveness, for all his smart garlic comebacks that hid his denim eyebrow scars, she could get him to say more than seven sinewy reluctant words. Now he buys a staple remover avoiding the self checkout, and avidly tells the cashier: “it’s not a metaphor, it is just a maimed memory.” He mulls over that marginalia he couldn’t marginalize cause even eleven emblematic coin tricks wouldn’t embolden her evening laugh. He did earnestly tell her that Ernest would find her lovely, but no compliment compared to eating caramels together. No G.E.D, nowhere to go and after all he still became a book editor, glad that she does what she said she would. She follows Christiane Amanpour. And once their dance of puckered epigraphs and heartbreak motels that spanned about a decade decides to decimate their debts with each other’s mess, they head back to Hollow Halls and wedding calls of people they once knew. And when at the reception their gazes finally find their meeting place besides the town’s lake, they artfully avoid the irking need to share their last ‘book tease’ smirk.

What about the moment that Jess convinces Rory to go back to Yale! That scene really showed how much of an influence Jess had on Rory. Her own mother couldn't convince her to go back to Yale. But Jess did!

Jess was the only one. He was always the only one.

Pretty sure that nearly all GG fans wanted her to be with Jess. He was always my favourite because their connection was so real and pure. I wish they stayed together.

She is the queen of making bad relationship choices

Their love was so pure, and real. He was real and he loved her effortlessly.

I kind of feel bad for him. He ran because it was all he knew. He was afraid of being in love with Rory and being emotionally vulnerable with her. He didn’t know how to properly discuss his emotions. When he realized he loved Rory he ran because he was afraid of his feelings not being reciprocated and his fear got ahead of him so he ran. I wish she would’ve met him after he got his crap together cause then he most likely would’ve been endgame. He was the only one who knew Rory. He loved books just as much as she did. He pushed her to be her best self and she did the same with him. They were incredible. In my head they got together

Ok I love how he just... softens when he's with Rory. I have no better word for it. Like with the hi, hi, scene. The water sprinkler scene. the swan kiss scene. When Rory went to New York. Those are expressions and smiles he has only for her.

Their chemistry was incredible, the fact they dated in real life at the time almost makes up for the awful ending they had in the show!

Jess was not perfect. However, he was perfect for Rory. He challenged her and called her higher. In a way that Dean and Logan did not. I credit Jess for challenging Rory to go back to school. He enlightened her.

If we ignore the reboot, I think they would’ve ended up together a few years after she graduated college and it would’ve been fine. A Day in the Life was supposed to give viewers some closure and all it did was show that Jess turned his life around completely, becoming a really good person whereas Rory became unbelievably entitled and immoral. The reboot actually did something I didn’t know was possible and made me think Jess deserved better.

Why am I torturing myself by watching this? 😭❤️

I can NEVER watch A Day in the Life again. I was so disappointed that Jess and Rory don't end up together that my heart will always hurt over it. Lol.

I love this, but I need to add, "This isn't you, Rory!" and that whole speech. That was probably my favorite part of the series; Jess turning into the voice of reason.

Actually I‘m pretty certain, the writers wanted or still want jess and rory to be endgame. It is kinda implied in literally EVERYTHING in the whole series. Richards mother dislikes Emily a lot, same with Luke. And Lorelai got along with Rorys boyfriends except for Jess, she almost hated him. Also he appeared a few times after they broke up (which they technically never did) and played a very important role in her life even if it only was 5 min, he always brought her back to the right path and was the only boyfriend who actually matured and became decent and had a nice character developement. But ok I mean the fact that a Jess and Rory series was planned way back then is just a confirmation, that Jess was so much more than just another boyfriend of Rory. There‘s so much more and I‘m sure she would have ended up with him, which is also hinted at the revival series, how he looked at her from the window. This just shows his true love for her, even after so many years.... I just wish we could get a series which would only be about them/ Rorys love life. *Edit: And all the people who say Jess is too good for Rory now, do you still remember who helped him and saw the good in him when everyone in town disliked him? A good relationship is not about being worthy of each other, it's about encouraging each others personal growth and that's what they've been doing throughout the whole show.

the writers screwed with our feelings in the reboot. I was looking for closure after all these years and didn’t get it! so here I am rewatching season 2&3 because those were the good days 💔

Her first time should have been with Jess and NOT with MARRIED Dean. Just imagine how different her life would have turned out IF only she would have ended up with smart hard working Jess and not that spoiled entittled Logan. Just saying, Jess made her THINK he made her want to be better and do amazing things. Logan was and always will be a distraction, his influence made her question herself in a negative way. She dropped out of YALE!!! Why? to be a screw up?? ONLY Jess was able to talk some sense into her. It makes me sad that the writers of the revival could not give Rory a better future. She's still where she has always been. . . Lost

Jess was the one for her

I think that the role reversal of Jess and Rory from Gilmore Girls to A Year in the Life does show that Rory and Jess need each other. Rory has been a major influence in Jess's life when he was struggling and flunking out of school and inspired him to write a book and become a better person. So, when Rory is struggling with who she is, it's only natural that Jess is the person to inspire her and do the same thing for her that she did for him. Personally, I think that no matter how nice of a guy Dean is or how much fun Rory had with Logan, Jess is the only person that has been truly good for her.

so what logan got her pregnant. jess is her true love and we all know it, well most of us (cause jess is the best(in my opinion)) but christopher got lorelai pregnant and she ended up with luke!

I think they're repeating the story. Rory's pregnant. Things couldn't work out with her first love (Dean) just like happened with her mom and dad, they couldn't end up together. And so there's Jess, he wasn't the first one but I think he'll always be there for her just like Luke did with Lorelai, until they decide to try it again

the fact that throughout their relationship in the series the two actors were actually dating in real life makes their relationship that much better. they were actually in love when they filmed this:) makes me happy

In my opinion, she doesn’t deserve Jess. Yes he wasn’t perfect, and needed to be a big more mature, but Rory’s character was horrible. She toyed with Dean’s emotions, and hurt him a lot. Later on, Jess professes his love to her, and she picks Logan.

“I couldn’t of done it without you” MY HEART. They were a perfect match together, Rory had a major influence on Jess becoming more mature and into an even more amazing man. Jess got Rory back on track and she went back to Yale. It should’ve been them from beginning to end...

Jess was clearly made out to be 'the bad boy' stereotype but it's interesting how Rory was both a people pleaser and very self absorbed. Characters aside, Milo and Alexis' chemistry was off the charts!

I never liked Dean. He always got so mad at Rory and anytime she would talk with another boy, he would yell at her. I personally think Dean was a little clingy.

Jess was in love with her but thought he was not good enough, so he left became a stable, successful man. Then Rory goes with Logan even though Jess and her were both clearly in love. She made the wrong decision they are meant for eachother.

Their chemistry is so real! Rory‘s different in front of Dean, who seems to be more of a brother to her. When I first watched the show I felt Jess was rude and unacceptable but now I totally get him. Sometimes you love a girl so much you have to let her go.

I love watching milo ventimiglia go from playing jess on gilmore girls to playing jack on this is us. They both find the women of their dreams to love them and be with them and are happy together and are just perfect together.

There's no point to see this, the writers ruined the only chance they had to continue their love story, Logan Was fine in college, but that was it , how can you call love if you are the second Woman? In the Revival Was more potential for Jess or Even Tristán, I felt like the writers wanted to fit in the new generation and totally forgot about the ones that followed the show, the revival Was the worst fan service Ever!

People always say that Jess was just as toxic as dean, but the difference was Jess and Rory had a true connection, they were equals. Dean and her just had a juvenile relationship.
