Her voice changes over the years from the song initially released. However, this give the song a different flavor. While the song initially released and when she sang it, it really felt like she's in love with her first love. Now, when I listen to this version, it sounds like she's all grown (which she really does) and she's sang it with memories of her first love she once had, fill with all kind of emotions of joy, sadness and regret.

@@kyusadanagreed, the best vocalist aren’t the best artist. Most contestants from modern singing competition have better vocals but they aren’t artistic or can connect with an audience other with than a pitch perfect sound. art connects in a different way

This song got so big in the Philippines! The early 2000s, 2010s, and up to now, most of the children and teens at the time know this song. It's a staple of computer shops and videokes here, even though as non-Nippon speakers, we butcher the words 😊 But that's the beauty of this music, it transcends language barriers and connects the listener through the heart and the melody of the song. All we know is that this song is about first love, and the fact that we've all gone through the bittersweet stage of it, we all can gather around and relate to this masterpiece.

I was surprised to hear this song again on Spotify, because of that Netflix series i guess. I still have, and listen to Utada's CD's. Some songs are just simple yet so powerful, they are just waiting to be rediscovered. Lots of good memories from working way back in Yokosuka Japan.
