The funniest part was a solder asked an oriental looking reporter "where you from ?" The guy was trembling and replied "Hong Kong". The solder said that doesn't sound American, and shot him dead. I think HK was carefully chosen by the producer, or director, because they could not use Korea or Japan, it would cause a lot of resentment when showing the movie in these US ally countries. They probably didn't want to use China because that may cause diplomatic tension. So they choose Hong Kong, a place most people can relate to but too insignificant that it didn't matter if they got offended or not ! I wonder what reactions they got from Hong Kong audiences, lol.

I don't think so, it simply means that the producers think HK is no different than any other parts of China. Even the soldier repeated the word "China" after he shot the guy. The film is not afraid to utter the word "China". They just thought HK is China. Nothing more, nothing less.

I am from Hong Kong too... Perhaps the director want to express white supremacy still exists in US society nowadays. The soilder (with red sun glasses) killed two guys without hesitation based on the nationality and race (one guy look like red Indian and other confirmed he was from Hong Kong)

蘇聯分裂後俄羅斯是否更強大? 有分裂的基石會令國家更強大的說法是攞黎講的廢話。

Good Cantonese commentary about the film. Really discussing the details and values of the film. The director purposely vague how the civil war was broken and open for audience discussion. I am not understanding > the scene of the soldier (wearing red glasses) treatment with the corpse. He spreaded some white powder (lime) on the corpse > what is the purpose. Also why so many civilian was killed and scretely buried the corpse? It is one of the most shocking war film I even seen. I watched "the killing field", "the full metal jacket". But only "civil war" able to put audience situated at real battle engage scenes between two troops.
