In this video, the Y- Parameters of the two-port network are explained and the condition of Reciprocity and Symmetry for Y parameters are derived.
By watching this video, you will learn the following topics:
0:00 Introduction
0:22 Y- Parameters of the Two-Port Network
5:26 The equivalent circuit of the two-port network in terms of the Y-parameters
6:54 Condition for Reciprocity for Y- Parameters
9:41 Condition for Symmetry for Y- Parameters
Y- Parameters (Admittance Parameters) :
In the two-port network, there are four variables. (V1, I1, V2, and I2)
Out of the four variables, the two variables are independent variables while the two variables are dependent variables.
For Y- parameters, I1 and I2 are dependent variables, while V1 and V2 are independent variables.
And I1 and I2 can be expressed as
I1 = Y11*V1 + Y12*V2
I2 = Y21*V1 + Y22*V2
The Y- parameters are also known as the admittance parameters because each parameter has the unit of admittance.
In the video, after the discussion of Y- parameters, the two-port network is represented by the equivalent circuit in terms of the Y-parameters.
What is the Reciprocal Network? Condition for Reciprocity
A Two-Port network is said to be a Reciprocal network if the ratio of excitation at one port to the response at other port is the same if the excitation and the response are interchanged.
Condition for Reciprocity: Y12 = Y21
What is the Symmetrical Network? Condition for Symmetry
A Two-Port network is said to be a Symmetrical network, if the ratio of Voltage to the current at one port is same as the ratio of the voltage to the current at the other port, with one of the port open-circuited.
Condition for Symmetry: Y11 = Y22

Sir, why did you take I1' and I2' directions in the opposite direction of original I1 and I2 ??

In two-port network terminology, I1 and I2 are the incoming port currents. While here I1' and I2' are short circuit currents, which are flowing through the short circuit at the particular port. (Its the response due to the excitation, which is flowing away through the short circuit). I hope it will clear your doubt.

If you go through the two port network playlist on the channel, I have covered some of the examples. But yes I will definitely cover more. The examples are usually covered on the second channel. It will be uploaded there.

why we short circuit in y,z parameters but open circuit in z parameter

In Y parameters, to find Y11,Y12, Y21 and Y22, we are setting V1 and V2 to 0 (Please see the equations of Y parameters). Which is effectively shorting the port 1 or 2. In case of Z parameters, to find Z11, Z12, Z21 and Z22, we are setting either I1 or I2 to 0. which is effectively open circuiting the any one of the ports. I hope, it will clear your doubt.

Condition of symmetry at Y parameter Is (RATIO OF CURRENT TO THE VOLTAGE THAT IS I1/V1 =I2/V2 THAT IS Y11=Y22 ) But here it is V1/i1 and v2/i2 , is it right !

The network is said to be symmetrical, when the impedance measured at one port (keeping the second port open) is same as the impedance measured at the second port (keeping the first port open). Mathematically, it is V1/ I1 (when I2 = 0) is equal to V2 / I2 (when I1 = 0). In case of Y- parameter, the condition for symmetry is Y11 = Y22 (as proved in the video). I hope, it will clear your doubt.
