As a woodworker myself I have huge respect and admiration for Japanese woodworking...true artists. As for the guy filming this...he should never be allowed to have a camera in his hands ever again.

Maravilhoso, é inacreditável que uma obra desse porte seja feito sem uso de um prego sequer e sem nenhum reajuste de peças durante toda a obra Mostra a grande capacidade profissional desses carpinteiros , meus parabéns a eles

This is very interesting and fascinating to see the timber frame come togather and the joinery is incredible. I have a few questions hope someone can respond to this in english. 1) How does one design the precision into this frame. Is it on a CAD software or traditional methods are used? 2) How much does a house of this size and design cost to buy. Thank You very much for sharing these videos :) Venkat

Is that entire house built out of Cedar? If that joinery is open to the inside, it'll not only look, but smell, brilliant.

Very impressive. I'll bet that's an expensive structure.

That depends on what expensive means to you. This is a traditional and like you said an impressive way of how traditional houses are skillfully built here in Japan. Unfortunately, these methods are being replaced by quick easy to make modern wooden structures by big companies. The cost for this house will vary depending on the type of wood and how many square meters involved but I'm estimating that it cost around $300,000 (USD) or 30,000,000 yen to build. Finally, keep in mind that in Japan, the price of houses do not go up like how they can in the US depending on market factors. In Japan, home value gradually depreciate; just like a car.

300k? wow that's less expensive than house around here(500+ is about average) and that's going to be a beautiful house.
@KumidiaWebHD8 жыл бұрын
Don... its about $300K to pay for the materials and labor only. Cost of land, furniture, piping, electrical wiring, and etc. are not included in that estimated $300K. This video looks like it was taken somewhere in the countryside of Chiba prefecture so land isn't that expensive if you compare it to buying land in the city.

This is basically Gunpla, but for architecture. :-) Or perhaps that's where Gunpla got its origins... ;-)

A wonderfully jointed structure using only traditional methods & tools such as wooden hammers, dowels, chisels, hand planes & hand saws. Oh ya, and a 100' crane... Ahh, to capitalize off of the quirks of a culture. I would have flooded that site with tea-serving, kimono-wearing, barefooted, beam-negotiating geisha. I'd pump enough sodium into that tea to make a whale thirsty. Then when them boys showed up the next day with blistered and chapped lips, I'd sell them carmex.

i understand the beauty of tradition and such.... BUT REALLY? SAFETY SHOES MUCH
@claxtondaniel8 жыл бұрын
Considering the size of the lumber they are using. If something falls, steel toes aren't going to be much help. They are more at risk of falling off the structure than anything else. Having shoes that are more malleable and can wrap around the wood will provide more purchase on the structure.

What are the name or brand of the shoes they are wearing? Aren't they suppose to be steel toes?

Don't you think that the sound of people working is more lively and relevant as opposed to the shit elevator music that you impose on our ears and minds ? Try to think, for once !

Me too. It is a very sad thing to be imposed an international mash they call music that is essentially made by a machine with no feeling at all… and which doesn't relate to what they show on film. Very sad.
