Yes this is pretty much the 'standard' response from most, if not all, HK banks... I too had a credit card fraud (a transaction for a purchase overseas department store). I filed a fraudulent alert to my HS*C back, they sent me some form to fill out.... said they would investigate the instance. A few weeks later they responded in writing that my fraudulent claim has been denied and that I would be responsible for the entire amount. They even included an image of the credit card charge receipt, which the 'signature'...which that signature (looks like someone scribble arabic, 8 centimeters long!!!!) that clearly NOT the same as mine (my bank should have my signiture, not to mention the signiture I signed on the back of my cc didn't match what the frauder provided). What kind of 'investigation' did my bank did that was 'thorough' and 'act to protect their customers'!!! I fought back.... They said the charge was done by card swipe / in person... I asked my employer to write a letter stating I was at work, in the office, on this date and time.... which there's no way I could be physically in that country performing the purchase / transaction! HS*C finally backed down and reverted the charge.... I usually do not sign on the back of all my cc, just because when I present my cc to make a purchase, the shop employee would see there's no signature behind the cc, would ask for my id to verify that I am the card owner.... that's a way to 'protect' myself.... but one time I tried to make a purchase at an apple store in HK, the apple employee saw my cc wasn't signed, I then presented him my ID which matches the name shown on the cc..yet he still refuse to allow me to use the cc and demanded me to sign it!!! That's stubborn if not dum 6. Even the manager at the store demanded I sign the cc.... anyone can learn your signature man!!!

I always locked all my credit cards, to prevent fraudulent transactions. It’s kinda hassle but it’s worth it.
