At the year 2013 was discovered The Progressive Growth of Money Supply Principle, which say you how the Money Supply must growth, i.e., the quantity of money that market needs: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n897pZCalZiWnY0.html If we increase the money supply by an amount equal to the sum of interest generated by the financial system during the preceding period, the market interest rate will be the natural interest (Wicksell) Thanks to the Progressive Growth of the Money Supply Principle we know today that it is impossible to return to the Gold Standard. The Principle will force Central Banks to change de monetary policies.

Does that mean a government will never aim to increase their long-run aggregate supply of money? Key word being aim.

Question: If expansionary monetary policy increases inflation and lowers interest rates, that would mean that interest rates can become lower than inflation. Then, when banks loan out money, they are actually losing money in terms of its real value. Why then would they loan out money, instead of looking for more profitable investments elsewhere?
@afifzainurin
@afifzainurin 3 жыл бұрын
Probably because whatever it is they are getting from giving loans, benefits them more than other forms of investments in the short term?

How does contractionary monetary policy reduce current account deficit?? If the exchange rate is strengthened due to contractionary then surely imports become cheaper which leads to more leakages, and then surely the current account deficit worsens???
@inderdeepnatt6096
@inderdeepnatt6096 2 жыл бұрын
As it reduces growth within an economy via a reduction in aggregate demand which means a reduction in incomes, therefore less spending on imports which can reduce an current account deficit. But it can also worsen it by a stronger exchange rate meaning imports are cheaper but due to lower incomes and an increased interest rate, there is more of an incentive to save rather than spend.
