At times revealed, hidden at times
کہیں ممکن ہوا کہیں واجب
کہیں فانی کہیں بقا دیکھا
At times a possibility, at times imperative
At times ephemeral, at times eternal
یار کو ہم نے جا بجا دیکھا
کہیں ظاہر کہیں چھپا دیکھا

At times revealed, hidden at times
کہیں وہ بادشاہِ تخت نشیں
کہیں کاسا لیئے گدا دیکھا
At times in the beloved’s attire
He was seen throwing up His charms
یار کو ہم نے جا بجا دیکھا
کہیں ظاہر کہیں چھپا دیکھا
I saw my beloved in all I saw
At times revealed, hidden at times
کہیں وہ در لباسِ معشوقہ
بر سر ناز و ادا دیکھا
At times in the beloved’s attire
He was seen throwing up His charms

Eternity exists only with Allah and those who earn his pleasure. Those who love each other for His sake will be under the shade of His eternal mercy as is mentioned in the prophetic narration. Love is intense and real only when our souls are connected with each other i.e when a spiritual connection exists between the lovers.

I agree, it just has to be! Having originated from not only Farsi but also Arabic and Sanskrit and, later, Hindi...it has to be the most expressive language in the world. Probably there is nothing one can't express in Urdu. And I love the script to pieces!

Urdu poetry loses its death if translated word by word without a core of true emotion, ‘Ashiq Niaz ki surat’ it should be ‘as a yearning of a beloved’ Niaz is a Persian word that means ‘desire’.
