YaarAnād Virtual Baiṭhak Series Mēlā - Season 1, Episode E102 with Sanju Sahai
Rāñgalī Satth (Virtual) Mēlā 102 with the torchbearer of the Benaras Gharānā of Tablā, maestro Sanju Sahai (Vishnu Sahai), hosted by Bhai Baldeep Singh, who is also the head of the Sultanpur Lodhi - Amritsarī Bāj (circa 1490 AD). Sanju Sahai will be joining live from London, United Kingdom, from 6:00 PM (India), or 1:30 AM (PST) onwards on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.

About the series:
As an extension of the World Music Heritage Series conceived and produced by maestro Bhai Baldeep Singh for Anād Records, the YaarAnād Virtual Baithak Series aims to celebrate excellence in the field of music, arts, dance, theatre, and literature. The YaarAnād Virtual Baithak Series marks the 550th birth anniversary of Gurū Nānak Dēv, the first Gurū of the Sikhs.
Il maestro:
Sanju Sahai-also known as Vishnu Sahai-is a UK-based torchbearer of the Benares Gharana of tablā. He is the son and disciple of Pandit Sharda Sahai, representing the sixth generation of Varanasi’s tablā tradition. By age nine, Sanju made his debut in Benares. At thirteen he earned a bachelor’s degree in music, and at eighteen received a master’s degree in music. Sahai has performed in twenty-five countries, including at top stages such as Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Sydney Opera House. He has accompanied many of the twentieth-century legends of Hindustani music, including Pandit Birju Maharaj, Samrat Sitara Devi, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Samrat Girija Devi, and Ustad Sultan Khan. He is an A-grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan and has collaborated with non-Indian traditions including flamenco and jazz. Sahai has performed before the Queen on several occasions, as well as for Prince Charles. For over two decades, Sahai has been teaching tablā at SOAS, and he is presently touring with Anoushka Shankar.
