So in order to avoid any confusion regarding the time travel mechanics, I will break down what type of Time travel we're dealing with here. AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. This calls into the question of the existence of free will in the world of Attack of Titan. The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past? Well, he had 3 perfect conditions: 1. ⁠He had the ability of the Attack Titan 2. ⁠The ability of the Founding Titan 3. ⁠He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke. After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. They were freely able to view the past as if it were through a one way mirror. Now if Eren had any other Titan other than the Attack Titan, he would only be able to look. But since Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that he's currently experiencing in real time. So this mean that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually recieving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time. Also Note that everytime, Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always standing behind his dad. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, it is from actually due to the memories from Eren's POV Another comment : Basically, Since Grisha has Erens future memories, what Present Eren is doing in present time is altering Grishas memories of Erens futures memories. So when Eren was telling his dad to stand, its basically erens future memories that was in Grisha. The timeline is fixed that means everything is supposed to happen is fixed and nothing can change that. When Eren kissed Historia, he unlocked his dads memories which also included his own future memories and that is why he was shook. Eren basically sees fragments of his own future but not all of it (shown when Eren was surprised about Porco sneak attack, underground. But not Pieck when she pulled a gun at him, bc he knew she was not gonna shot him). Same with Grisha, he only sees parts of Erens future in fragments. [Yes, this is a copy and paste comment(s)]

Remember that for Zeke's perspective, at no point did Grisha show he loved him. And at every point he was sacrificed for the cause. And even then, he wasn't going to betray his parents. The old Beast Titan, don't remember his name, was the one that gave him that freedom to protect himself and his grandparents. Had he not done that, all of his family would've been turned into titans or executed. So yeah, don't blame him for hating Grisha, Grisha was a shitty father to him, but it does seem like he learned from his mistakes

Grisha hates the outside world with every fiber of his being because of what happened to his sister and his wife. So imagine how bad Eren's plans have to be for Grisha to ask Zeke to stop Eren.

Looking back, only Attack Titan owners are the only ones that see future inheritor's memories. All Titan Shifters can see past inheritors memories but only the Attack Titan owners were able to see future memories like Kruger seeing Eren's memories and saying to Grisha "To save Mikasa and Armin..."

Eren kissed historian’s hand and changed the entire trajectory of this show.

In fact, what many people don't realize is that the Attack Titan in itself is nothing special. But what allowed the manipulation of history to become as we know it was that at some point in the future something happened: - A carrier of Attack Titan + Founding along with a person of real blood entered the Paths together. Zeke making it possible to enter the memories made Eren able to influence the past and all the Attack Titan holders, who could only see the future because Eren was in the Paths showing them. Therefore, the only really special Attack Titan is the last one. The one from the future. It is a time loop and a paradox. The past only happened because someone in the future wanted it to. And that was Eren, the will of the Attack Titan who in all ages has always fought for freedom.

That shot of Grisha looking at adult Eren he held out the key for kid Eren at 10:45 is freaking legendary! To think Isayama thought about it all the way from episode 1 (chapter 1) on how everything else connects is some insane story writing! Also just to clear up the confusion here, technically Grisha didn't see adult Eren directly here, what he saw was himself from Eren's POV (think of Eren's eyes as a camera and Grisha seeing himself in 3rd person with that camera all in present time) but Grisha knew 100% he was looking from Eren's POV (Grisha saw the future memories of Eren when passing the Attack Titan to him but ONLY what adult Eden wanted him to see) at everything including when he saw himself hugging Zeke (Eren was "kind" enough to point and stare at their direction).

So since season 3 eren knew what he was gonna do he already knows the ending of the show 🤣he knows what’s gonna happen and everything that’s about to come that’s why greisha said “eren will win he will always get his way”

I have to say, having the attack titan’s power basically boiling down to “Dr. Manhattan’s view of time” isn’t road I ever thought this show would go down, but I have to give them respect for it.

A couple of points of clarification that are important to remember, the First King of the Wall’s Will and Pact of Non-Aggression didn’t always constrain the royal family members who possessed the Founding Titan. Said pact/will was only relatively recently made a 100+ years ago when the Walls of Paradis were first created. Before that there was no Pact limiting the Founding Titan, whereas the Attack Titan has always had the power of seeing the memories of its future holders, and Grisha is speculating that the point of that trait was to act as a counter balance to the Founding Titan in general and to lead up to the defiance of the First King of the Wall’s will. Also if it wasn’t clear from the visuals, this episode indicated that Eren in the final episode of Season 3 (episode 59), the moment when he was kissing Historia’s hand (during the ceremony commending the Scouts’ success of retaking Shiganshina), was the exact moment when he unlocked more of his father’s memories, specifically the ones in this very episode where he saw Grisha being egged on/told by Eren’s future self to kill the Reiss family and steal the Founding Titan. Hence why he had such a disturbed expression after kissing Historia’s hand.

Eren the villain confirmed. I was always confused when I watched S3 reactions to why Grisha would pass his titan powers to Eren since he seemed like a good parent in Paradis.

I still believe that the future memory ability is only possible because of the founder titan powers, it’s not really some Attack Titan trait. It just happened that Eren is the Attack Titan, also got the Founder Titan and Zeke brought him to that place, where it was possible to send messages to past inheritors. While Eren Kruger and Grisha thought it was some ability, it really was just Eren messing with the Attack Titans memories through the founding Titan. I think If Reiner as the armored titan ate the founder and touched with Zeke, he could have done the same thing.

I guess now the reason why Eren did not mourn about Saschas death is, because he have already known that she will being killed, which honestly concerns me about Armins and Mikasas future. I mean Erens cold behaviour towards them could also mean that he knows that they will be safe at all, so he does not actually care acting so rough with them in the present, but I'm really worried that he might just being prepeared for everyones death in order to fulfill the future he maybe already has been seen. Especially after seeing how he's acting with his father (although this probably had to be done, because he can't change the future).

The Attack Titan's real power was about seeing future holder's memories, but his power can only be displayed and controlled fully due to the Founding Titan and Royal Blood, you have to think the attack titan never had the active of simply seeing future memories or see the future overall, because it never did, the founder probably nerfed the Titan with something like the Vow Renouncing War, and then someone slick enough bypassed the nerf and took that shit off.

Think of it like this, the attack Titan can see its future users memories hence the future, that would imply that his dad, the Eren before him, and all the ones before him could see all the way up to Eren. And Eren is so influencial that the attack titans "motto" is to "keep moving forward" which Eren has quoted a lot in the manga/anime. At least that's how I see it, he is the attack titans will from my perspective, great reaction

As i understand erens power, he can see the future which is a specific power of the attack titan. All titan shifters can see the memories of the previous successors(just one prior), however they cannot interact with or affect the past, neither can eren. However, he had conditions set in place that allowed him to do so. The conditions are that he has the founding titan power as well as zeke's blood touching him, allowing full control. The attack titans power to see the future that we witness in this case is not eren using his power, but grisha using his power to see the next inheritor(eren) memories, like the wall destruction, and also what eren will do next. Eren was able to show him only the parts he wanted to, which he could due to the conditions met. As for when eren found out about all this and saw everything in the future, the showed a precvious scene of eren kissing historia's hand, thats when he learns everything. Its evident, u can see thats when eren completely becomes souless in season three.
